The first, full trailer for the forthcoming series of Doctor Who has now been released by the BBC.

..."Clara tell me... am I a good man?"...

...I... don't know!"...

... hopefully we're going to see a darker side to the Doctor... who better than Peter Capaldi to show that side to us?... I just know for sure that I'm going to like him as the Doctor... I just know it!... did anybody else pick up the line where he says...

..."I'm the Doctor... I've lived for over 2000 years"...

I always thought that he was supposed to be around the 900 something years old up until now?... I went to this website...

http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/The_Doctor's_age

... and Steve Moffatt after being asked for the umpteenth time as to what the Doctors age was supposed to be he states...

"The thing I keep banging on about is that he doesn't know what age he is. He's lying. How could he know, unless he's marking it on a wall? He could be 8,000 years old, he could be a million. He has no clue. The calendar will give him no clues.Steven Moffat, SFX, May 2010 "

...well I guess that answers my question doesn't it?... lol!... thanks for posting that tickytoc... cheers.

I think the 900-ish figure was pretty consistent back with Eccleston & Tennant. But with Smith, Moffat did a couple of big jumps forward. One was after Amy left, and the Doctor was parked up on the cloud above London alone for years and years. And of course there was the last episode, with the Doctor staying to protect that little town for hundreds of years. So I guess with the new Doctor he's passed the 2000 mark now.

...when you put it into a timeline like that it kinda makes sense doesn't it?... thanks Will... cheers.

Yeah, wasn't it fun doing the movie! They should give us more of that sort of fun.

Just popped in to say - if you like Capaldi, or want to get a geek at him, whatever, catch him on SBS, inside the Mind of Leonardo Da V.
On right now, Capaldi is doing dramatisation bits. Interesting doco anyway.

Doctor Who will not be flirting with his young companion
  • The 56-year-old says: 'It's not what this doctor's concerned with'
  • He added the hit show will have more 'gravity' than previous series
  • Capaldi also admits he didn't say yes to part immediately

'It's going to be a bit different from what we've seen over recent years. A bit more gravity,' he said.

'Some situations are more sombre and I think there are more rooted dramatic scenes. Over the past two or three years, which I've loved, there has often been a breathless vigour; we still have that attack, but we have another level of drama, another tone. And the scenes are longer.'

Capaldi recalled how his agent called him to tell him he had got the part when he was filming in Prague, and he spent the afternoon wandering around the city humming the Doctor Who theme tune.

'I just didn't think it was something that would happen to me,' he admitted.

But the Glaswegian actor did not say yes to the part immediately.

'I didn't want to be Doctor Who in a Doctor Who I didn't like,' he said. 'I had to be convinced the show was going in a direction I was interested in.

'I had to think carefully about the level of visibility. My life was blessed, but as soon as this happened I had paparazzi outside my house. People spoke to me before and recognised me, but nothing like this.

'I had to decide if I was ready to live with that, because once that genie is out of the bottle, it doesn't go back in.'

Doctor Who returns to BBC1 on August 23.

...hmmmm!.... it looks like the same interior of the Tardis that Matt had so far... hopefully it will change in the near future... I really do hate that version...

So, who's going to Sydney to meet Capaldi and Jenna and watch the first episode??

http://www.tvtonight.com.au/2014/07/doctor-who-full-trailer-2.html

I'm prepared to spend a lot of money to be in the same room as Jenna Coleman ;)

...it looks like the tickets sold quick pronto for it... it's fully sold out!... I wasn't able to get any... did anyone else manage it?... just curious... cheers.

I didn't bother trying for tickets, but am sooooo going to the premiere at the cinema. Fun.

Sounds from the article that kxk posted that Capaldi is going to be an interesting doctor. I'm so sick of the doctor/companion romance angle.

...I so agree with you there nutmeg... I would like to see a more gruffier type of Doctor for a change... I know that when Ecclestone revived the Doctor character he was quite enigmatic and kept information about himself to himself and could be quite moody a lot of the time... when my favourite Doctor Tennant came along he brought a more younger zesty freshness as a Doctor and that was good while he was in the role... when Matt came along he did alright in the role but he was way too 'floppy' for my liking and was like a kid that had drank too much red cordial for me... I will be looking forward to a more maturer Doctor with a bit of old fashioned attitude and less comedic flopping around... cheers.

Just looked online at my local Event Cinema (the same place I saw Day of the Doctor). They have 3 sessions on the 24th - 10am 4pm and 6.30pm Mon 25th, Tues 26th and Wed 27th all at 6.30pm.

Looks like my local cinema only has one session, though they may announce more, like they did for DOTD.
Best I book quickly.
How exciting.

Ooooo, getting excited, it's listed as screen time 98 minutes, yeah.
And DW fans should all make sure you get your arse to this and any other DW cinema releases/screenings.
Send the message, the fans/crowds are there paying to see what comes for free, now get it together and make us a great big fat budget DW MOVIE.
Though that might be a bad idea, they might then take it away from TV?

Oh, and if your not watching the repeats on saturday night, 2 episodes every Saturday - the 50th episode is next week.
Name of the Doctor last night, if you want to catch up.

You know I would quite like a TARDIS coffin for my funeral, kind of a nice concept for a send off too.
