There's a rumour that Paul McGann might be cast as The Master

...wow... that would be weird eh?...although it would be good to see Paul McGann again in Dr Who but I loved John Simm as the Master and was hoping to see him again as him... you what I'd like to see?... I'd like to see the new Peter Capaldi Doctor bump into/ and crossing paths with Paul McGanns Doctor throughout the new series... perhaps collaborating with each other and Clara in fighting against various foes throughout the next couple of series... now THAT would be cool!...

WHAT THE FUDGE??!

Paul McGann being cast as The Master?!?!? Really?!?!?

Only if Joanna Lumley gets to play the next Doctor ;)

...lol!.. that would be so awesome!... I so love her!... funny as... cheers.

...it looks like a great series ahead... although I'm not a great fan of the 'Paternoster Gang' to be honest but I guess that it makes sense to include them in the 'Victorian-London-Jack-the-Ripper' type of storyline though... speaking of which...

...I did a photoshop of such a scenario a while back of David Tennant and Billie Piper in such an enviroment for a bit of fun...

I really like the Paternoster Gang, though l had to warm to them. And Strax's comic relief can get silly, but it is generally well down. Looking forward to seeing them all again, and can't wait til the season airs.
Thanks for all the info.

Doctor Who: David Tennant's departure left future of show in doubt, says Steven Moffat

David Tennant left in 2009 but Russell T Davies demanded a new lead be cast

Fans of Doctor Who were almost left without their favourite show when David Tennant quit, showrunner Steven Moffat has said.

The Scottish actor, 43, departed the sci-fi drama in 2009 after first joining four years earlier. He helped take Doctor Who to new heights by establishing a dedicated following, leading BBC producers to doubt the series’ future once he left.

“David owned that role in a spectacular way, he gave it an all-new cheeky, sexy performance and became a national treasure,” Moffat told the Hay Literary Festival.

“He didn’t do it instantly, he did it over time. So the idea that Doctor Who could go on at all in the absence of David was a huge question.”

Moffat revealed his suspicion that there were “plans maybe to consider ending it”, noting that Russell T Davies, who led the show’s 2005 revival, was the driving force behind its continuation.

“I didn’t realise how many people though it wouldn’t succeed at all,” Moffat added. “That was quite terrifying when I found out about it later.”

Clearly Davies’ insistence that Doctor Who cast a new lead under Moffat’s tenure proved fruitful. Matt Smith took over from Tennant to be welcomed by fans and soon, Peter Capaldi will take the Time Lord’s reins for the eighth series.

Doctors past and present reunited for 50th anniversary special The Day of the Doctor last year, which picked up the Radio Times Audience Award at the Bafta TV Awards earlier this month.

...apparently the teaming of Jenna Louise Coleman and Peter Capaldi is really working out according to this website here...

...they're saying that the chemistry between Capaldi and Coleman is 'sizzling'... it sounds like we're in for a treat methinks... here are a couple of photos from another website they may back up their claims... cheers.

Dr Who is coming to Sydney
Following on from last year's global smash-hit 50th anniversary, BBC Worldwide announce a major global publicity tour to launch the new series of Doctor Who and introduce Peter Capaldi as the new Doctor.Doctor Who: The World Tour will begin in the UK on August 7 and finish in Brazil on August 19.

The trip will see Twelfth Doctor Peter Capaldi, on-screen companion Jenna Coleman, and the show’s lead writer and executive producer Steven Moffat*(*Due to production commitments, Steven Moffat will be unable to attend to the entire tour. The cities he will join the tour for will be announced soon.) visit seven cities across five continents in 12 days, where they will attend fan events and media interviews, publicising Series 8 to a global audience.

Cardiff, UK
The tour kicks off in Cardiff, the home of Doctor Who since its 2005 revival, and also the location of a notorious rift in space and time.

London, UK
Capital city of the United Kingdom, and the location of the very first Doctor Who adventure- not to mention Clara's workplace, Coal Hill School.

Seoul, South Korea
A nation not (yet) visited by the Doctor on-screen will get to see him in real life! In 2009, South Korea named Doctor Who as the Most Popular Foreign Drama of the Year, and last year joined in the record-breaking global simulcast of The Day of the Doctor.

Sydney, Australia
Australia: birthplace of companion Tegan Jovanka and theme composer Ron Grainer. The new Doctor will visit Australia's largest city Sydney on The World Tour.

New York, USA
Yes, yes. We know. The Doctor can't land in New York anymore. Not after that sad business with the Ponds. But a little temporal instability isn't going to stop Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman from meeting American Doctor Who fans!

Mexico City, Mexico
Originally called Doctor Misterio when transmitted there in the 1960s and 70s (watch a fantastic archive clip here), Mexicans have been enjoying the adventures of the Doctor ever since.

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Having been so welcoming to series writer Mark Gatiss recently, Doctor Who will be returning to Brazil this summer.

More details of the itinerary and fan events will be available soon.

WOW. Bet it won't be cheap. How funny that Tegan is our main claim to DW fame. With so many Aussies in the UK, it's a wonder that we haven't featured again since then.

Hey - would say theme composer is our biggest and best DW claim to fame, lasting too.
I know I got a bit excited as a kid knowing an Aussie wrote the music:)

Anyway, not in the least interested in seeing Moffatt, nor either of the 2 new leads really. I like them fine, but what would seeing them live do for my DW enjoyment? Nil, he is as yet still shouty swearing man, and she is cute and all, but who cares?
Sounds like they designed a junket on the way to the world Cup.

Not too long to wait for episodes, yeah!

Matt's movie is a flop, ryan Gossling directed and it got hugely slammed at Cannes, and elsewhere, I think matt's performance isn't the problem though:)

...I saw this episode (Journey's end) on Dr Who tonight on Foxtel and I believe it to be one of my most saddest gut-wrenching moments on Dr Who... Catherine Tate's performance in the first 2:35 minutes at the beginning of the clip is beyond comparison... it almost makes me choke and mist up enough to cry... the part where she tells David Tennant's Doctor...

..."I was going to be with you... forever... the rest of my life... travelling... in the Tardis... the Doctor Donna... I can't go back... don't make me go back... Doctor... please... please don't make me go back... "...

...she rips me apart with that scene... what a brilliant performance... it moves me every time... that's probably the reason why she's my all time favourite companion I guess... (Tennant is my favourite Doctor of all time)... them together is the magic for me... her impression of Tennant is brilliance...

...the saddest part about Donna's words in that scene is that it is probably the true situation for all of the Doctors companions in the long run... no matter who it is... they would probably all think the same thing... but it will never happen... none of them will ever be with him forever... that is their pre-destined fate... that's also what makes this show so great... it will always change no matter who or what the situation is... long live Doctor Who... cheers.

Oh god yes, donna and her granpa are glorious - and it's that bitter sweet stuff that makes the Doctor so unmissable, repeatable, beloved, and the best and most brilliant TV show ever:)

At times I would argue with myself who I loved more, or wept more over, Donna or Rose - and then I decided, doesn't matter I can just love it all.

But there has never been a better episode than the adipose/donna searches for the doctor one, hilarious.

But I came here to note, does everyone know - ABC 2 is running DW again Saturday nights 7.30pm, followed by one of the 50th specials, yeah if that is every saturday.
Tonight it's that giant wasp thing, cheers!

Oh Doctor Donna. My favourite companion of all time. And she came as a package with Wilfred, it couldn't be more perfect.
And @kxk l agree, the Donna/Doctor search scene is the funniest DW scene ever. It never gets tired.

I'd forgotten it was an Aussie theme. Didn't an Aussie 'invent' the TARDIS too?

Sad for Matt having his movie tank.
