Looks awesome.
I will cry heaps when Matt leaves, kind of felt he needed one more series.
His 1st being all new everybody/producer etc, just felt that was a bit of a lost series, and I have come to love his sensitive face and 2nd viewings of episodes always amaze me with nuances he brings.
Tennant time felt right for his departure, Matt's feels a tiny bit too soon.

And I will be jumping with excitement for the re-gen.
 
I'm going to really miss Matt too - I think he has been excellent as a Doctor.

I thought he might be too young to be believeable, but I was so wrong. Moffat said in an interview recently:
"I think he does old Doctor better than anybody else. It’s not an accident. It’s something he very, very consciously thought about. Because he was the youngest Doctor Matt said, ‘he’s only got young skin. Nothing else is young.’ I think Matt makes you think very believably that he is this ancient being." I totally agree with that, I could have watched him a lot longer.
 
Yes I agree with that. Tennant, excellent as he was, felt like he had completed his time. Smith, like Davison, would have had at least one more excellent year in him. There's a feeling stemming back to Troughton about only doing three years, but I think four or five is the optimum.
 
Oh I do agree Matt does old, & weary/&tortured too, perfectly. Oh and fragile.

I would love his incarnation to enjoy a little time purely happy at the new history. His time feels to have flown, and feels incomplete somehow.
Tennant I was in love with, and bereaved but simpatico with his leaving and living.

Capt jack is supposedly going to be coming back sometime; I hope Jenny will turn up and find a cranky old Dad.

I love that they were so adorable together, described by somebody, as Laurel & Laurel, Hardy never turned up.
And Moffat says the two of them devised a Doctor Plan, each would do 7 episodes, or something or other......it's somewhere amongst all the celebration stuff.
 
So it sounds like at least some of us preferred Smith to Tennant as a Doctor. It's true for me anyway, I just think that the depth of Smith's acting is vast, even though as Meglos says, Tennant was amazing, but - to steal a line from Hitch-hikers - Smith was amazingly amazing.

This contradicts the online polls where Tennant is overwhelmingly people's favourite Doctor, followed by Matt. But much to my surprise, I'm in the Matt camp. Tennant was charming and cute and funny, which was fine by me at the time, but Matt is wise and angry and conflicted, while still being silly and child-like. Such depth for a Doctor.
 
I think Smith was one in a million. I remember seeing him on the cover of Doctor Who Magazine when he was announced and thinking "WTF?", and not in a good way. He seemed too young, too awkward looking, just not RIGHT. It took about 30 seconds at the start of The Eleventh Hour to kill all my doubts (fishfingers & custard!), and by halfway through that episode I knew we were watching a classic Doctor. I trust that Moffat knows what he's doing, so although I can't *quite* see it now, I hope I get that moment where Capaldi's Doctor clicks for me & I realise why he was chosen.
 
...my own personal favourite is David Tennant... I really didn't like Matt Smith at first to be really honest because he was too 'flippy floppy' so to speak for me... what I mean by that is in the first season he seemed to do a lot of flaying around like a man made of rubber... but as time went on he seemed to get right into his character and we then saw multi layered facets on his take of the Doctor... all credit to him for that from me... but still... I think that David Tennant was better... especially when he had Donna with him... they are my most favourite coupling in the Tardis to me...

...I am looking forward to seeing what Peter Capaldi brings to the role next... and Captain Jack is back?... great!!!!... I can't wait for that... I must admit... I am sooooooo over miss 'hello sweetie!... spoilers!'... I really hope that River Song doesn't come back to the show... I'm so over that character... it's been flogged to death imho...

...by the way... did anyone watch Paul McGann on the 'Mornings' show on Channel 9?... I saw him in the Saturday re-cap show this morning... it was great... cheers.
 


...that really is truely fantabulous up_all_night... it seriously is... I've had a dabble at rotoscoping but it is a bit too beyond me... this guy is a genious at it... brilliant stuff indeed... have you seen this one by the same guy?... cheers.

I don't know if it's genius or the definition of too much time on ones hand.


The video rotoscoping i've done has been so crude. In photoshop I may spend ages, but yeah... There's people who's job is just rotoscoping for major motion pictures. I think I once read that a lot of grunt stuff like that is often out sourced to Asia. Which actually they did with TRON. But I think even today that do it.

Bonhams' entertainment memorabilia sale will be held at its Knightsbridge auction venue on Wednesday 18th December, starting at midday, with viewings taking place every day from Sunday 15th December up to the sale.

Out of the 417 lots in the sale, 55 relate to the two series, with items ranging from scripts and artwork to costumes, props, and a signed postcard from Patrick Troughton while he was the Doctor.
