Blue front door of course, tee hee.....

And aww, Cpt jack is ready/willing/able :)

JOHN Barrowman is on standby to leave his hit US show to make a comeback for the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who in 2013.

John, who played Jack Harkness in the series and its spin-off Torchwood, said he’d be “disappointed” if Jack wasn’t involved.
The actor, currently starring in TV smash Arrow, said: “I haven’t been asked. I would love to if they ask me.
“Andrew Kreisberg (creator of Arrow) has already said if they want me in the 50th anniversary, he will give me the time off to do it. But it’s not up to me.”

So...if Moffat fails to bring jack to the party.....I'm gointg to hate the bastard
Oh looky, Arrow hu? They have been plugginh that thing haven't they? Show us some Jack next promo.

...I'll be surprised if Moffatt writes him into it because as I said in my post earlier on in this thread...

...I really do believe that he is systematically distancing this current series of Dr Who away from when Russell T Davis was writing it ... he's changed the interior of the Tardis twice methinks... changed the Daleks... killed off the Ponds (not sure if they were part of RT Davis's era though)... will probably change the Cybermen.... and would most likely not include Captain Jack just to further sever the strings in my opinion...

...hmmm... I'm guessing Torchwood is now finished for good if John Barrowman is in 'Arrow'... I found this article about the future of Torchwood on this link... (it may be re-quoting what you have already said kxk)... it doesn't sound good for its future...

‘Torchwood’ Creator Says Season 5 is in Limbo, May Debut in 10 or 20 Years

Torchwood Season 5

When we previously brought the news that series 5 of the BBC’s hit Doctor Who spin-off Torchwood was being placed on indefinite hold, we promised to keep fans updated on any info that might arise.

Now, according to showrunner Russell T. Davies, the news is… exactly the same.

Appearing last Saturday on comedian Graham Norton’s BBC radio show, Davies chatted mostly about his current television project Wizards vs Aliens, but also touched upon the status of Torchwood, saying that the fan favorite sci-fi drama, while not quite “dead,” is in television limbo:

“I loved making it over there [in the USA], and I would have carried on if circumstances hadn’t brought me back to this country, so it’s kind of in limbo for me at the moment. I’m not working on it at the moment, I’m only working on ‘Wizards VS. Aliens.’ When I get back to work one day, I don’t know, it’ll be old news to the BBC!

“It’s not officially [cancelled], it’s in a nice limbo where it can stew – those shows can come back in ten, twenty years time.”

On the one hand, Davies’ recent statement isn’t exactly the most reassuring thing for eager fans desperately waiting to see more of the continuing saga of the immortal Captain Jack Harkness – on the other hand, it’s also not a “no” as to whether or not series 5 will happen. Despite a few mixed reviews, last season’s Torchwood: Miracle Day – which took the series across the pond to the USA in a joint effort between the BBC and the Starz Network – was highly praised for its ambitious storyline and casting choices.

With the ever-growing popularity of parent show Doctor Who and Torchwood: Miracle Day’s strong ratings, Starz has maintained interest in making a series 5 whenever Davies is ready. Starz CEO Chris Albrecht added to Davies ‘maybe someday’ statement by saying:

“You know, Russell is so busy. Obviously, we’re in touch with the BBC all the time. We told them, we stand by ready for any news, but I think it would be a while before Russell came back to ‘Torchwood.’”

Even Captain Jack himself, actor John Barrowman, hasn’t given up hope on once again donning his trademark military peacoat. Currently starring on the CW’s superhero drama Arrow, Barrowman expressed interest in a Torchwood movie should a season 5 not happen. Barrowman said:

“I’m not going to talk about the future of ‘Torchwood’ beyond where we are, but if I said I wouldn’t love to have Captain Jack on the big screen, I’d be lying”

So there it is again: Everyone is down for a Torchwood series 5 if creator Russell T. Davies can find the time. While it may be some time before Torchwood comes back to earth, disappointed fans can hold on to the hope that Captain Jack Harkness will make an appearance in the big 50th anniversary episode of Doctor Who, which is expected to start filming next spring.

...I think that it is a damn shame if Torchwood is finished because Russell has lost interest in it but I'd rather see it die than have Steve Moffatt take it over... who knows... perhaps 'Wizards vs Aliens' is going to be better than Torchwood?... we can only wait and see I guess... Russell T Davis is a bloody genius when it comes to writing TV series... cheers.

You get the impression with RTD that he never sleeps - so much creative stuff comes out of him, awesome, maybe one day he will come back to Who.

I just discovered this -
http://www.abcwhovians.com/

The website was founded in March 2012, after the ABC closed it's online forum (known as Have Your Say or HYS), as a new place for members of the ABC site to continue discussing things relating to the ABC. Although it was originally set up for the regulars in the Doctor Who thread on the ABC's HYS site, it soon became a refuge for former ABC message board users who like to discuss other programs as well.

'Tis very nice place for oz who fans, and has Who news too. And I do belong to the big Aus Who fan site too. But never visit, they are way too historical and obsessed canon knowledgeable for me.

This is just a nice ABC offshoot that will keep tabs on broadcasts and so on.

And are you guys reading all the tidbits around about Clara?
IE birth day and death date....refs....and links to DW
Oswald....and you know what happened that day when the TV show began:)

And are we going to have a cyber party for the 50th:)

I think they stuffed Torchwood when they took it to America. The last season, with the exception of a couple of the actors, bore no resemblence to the original couple of seasons anyway. It was like a totally different tv show. And I'll never forgive them for killing off Ianto. :(

I love Torchwood & didn't mind the last season, but it's hard to imagine where it would go with Captain Jack, Gwen & Rhys as the only link to the original.

lxk, what is the Australian DW site you mentioned? The only one I joined was Gallifrey Base, and I find it way too much (too big, it takes half an hour just to navigate your way around and each thread is like 1000 pages long).

...kxk...great find with that website... a cyber party for the 50th sounds good... I saw Foxtel advertising that they were going to show the '11 Doctors in 11 months' each Sunday on the UK channel at 4:30 beginning with the first ever show... that should be interesting to watch for me because as a kid in England I was brought up on Dr Who from the beginning... the Daleks used to scare the shit outta me whenever I saw them... I was 9 at the time... can't wait to see it... cheers.

...I agree 100% with what you are saying wynter... I'm just hoping that Dr Who isn't going to go in the same direction... if it does then we can kiss that good-bye too... Ianto should've stayed as should have Owen and Toshiko... as soon as they started killing them all off that's when it died in the arse at the same time as taking it to the USA... **sigh**... I'd rather watch repeat episodes of Torchwood than watch all of the main characters die off... cheers.

I was glad they killed Owen and Tosh, they sucked and he was walking dead anyway - I just do not likethat actor.

But re Doc Who - UK will never let USA takeover Who, they would rather declare war - or just kill the Doctor, they view him as 2nd only to the Queen in Britness, notice they share Christmas Day:)

...I didn't particularly like Owen all that much but I liked Toshiko... I just don't think that she got enough air time to develop her character far enough... her character was way more interesting than Owens... anyway... I guess that point is moot now...

...'notice they share Christmas Day'...

...lol!... funny as kxk... cheers.

I agree about Tosh. She was just starting to get interesting and transforming into a stronger character and they killed her off. It made no sense.

Re Barrowman, is it likely they'll bring him back for the DW 50th anniv. with David Tennant being gone? I don't think there would be quite the same chemistry with Matt as there was with David. I hope they do because I'd like to see it and I love Jack but I'm not sure they would be keen to do it without David Tennant. Likewise I've been wondering the same thing about River, whether we'll see her again now that Amy and Rory are gone. I have the feeling that we won't.

...sadly wynter you are most probably spot on in both accounts... as I said... Moffatt really is slowly changing Dr Who completely... so you're probably making a sure fire prediction in my book... cheers.

I don't want to say too much (SPOILERS!) but I'm pretty confident that River will be back next series.

Not my main source, but even in TV Week this week, where Alex Kingston is interviewed for Upstairs Downstairs, she talks about River as an ongoing character.

...well that's good to hear Meglos... I think that with Clara and River being in the show together the onscreen dynamics between their two characters would be great to watch... with both of them in the show the Doctor will find that he has his hands full in trying to cope with two such outgoing characters as both of theirs... perhaps interesting times ahead after all?... cheers.

If Moffat doesn't bring back Cpt Jack - well then I will know he's a prick and not a big kid like RTD.
Cpt Jack is one of the kiddies most favourite characters, Moffat is a big fat spoil sport if we don't get a whiff of Jack for the 50th.

There are all kinds of great mysterious things with clara.
Date of birth - 1st Doc Who episode; date of death last Doc Who before the dead years; so her lifespan is exactly the same as the first Doc Who before the hiatus.

Oswald - as in Lee Harvey president killer. Doc Who first screened the day after JFK was assassinated.
