I agree 100% nutmeg.

I think Matt Smith is awesome. I thought David Tennant would be a tough act to follow, but Matt brings something really special to the role.

I love Matt too. I like that he is kinda daggy and dark, not cute and clever like DT (but I always like the current doc).

Glad they cut Confidential. I don’t think it does fans any favours to see the actor behind the character. Actors are usually wankers. Can be a bit disillusioning to hear the 'real' them.

You're the first person I have read that has said that.... I kind of like all the behind the scenes stuff sometimes.

I thought I would like Confidential too. But in reality I think that DT and MS come across as wimpy and actory (if there is such a word) when being themselves - which is not how I like to see my doctors. A bad incarnation, or something.

Maybe if Confidential just stuck to the technical stuff from the production crew - that is often interesting. And someone like Amy doesn't seem different on or off set so she doesn't burst any bubbles. PLUS we get the cut down version - bet they cut out all the best bits!

I kind of agree that Confidential is not essential. Sometimes it is a bit of a pain watching it right after an episode when my head is still reeling from something amazing, & then you see the actors being all actorish & it can break the illusion. Save the behind the scenes stuff for the DVD's, to watch in your own time.

Confidential did help me work out some things that confused me, but mostly I find it a bit dull and won't really miss it.
But I don't like the sound of 'budget cuts' ...........is that why this series is less spectacular/huge/wild....and more intimate/stuck in small sets? Lots of this series has felt like they had budget issues and were doing the cheap episode, they used to have some cheapos to save cash for the finales.

Anway - finale night tonight!

I thought "the wedding of River Song" is the finale

Oooohh yeah! bring on next week! It was quite sad when he was talking to Archie saying that he is old, so very, very old. And Craig was an excellent choice too.

That was a really lovely episode, Matt was very touching ....and I love Craig too. Loved the Confidential Craig/Matt mini dalek movie:)
Cute Amy bit.

I thought there were so many lovely moments, including the way he decided not to involve Amy & Rory again because he wants them to lead a safe, normal life.

LOVED the end bit where we saw the prelude to how River ends up being the impossible astronaut who "kills" the Doctor. Loved all the "I'm so old" stuff.

Lynda Baron who played the shop lady was in old skool Doctor Who.

Now I know where I have seen her before also, she was the MUM in an old pommie sitcom with sid James and 2 teen kids.

And yep, our new Who is getting much more heart and more of his own sweet history -allmakes my who viewing more satisfying.

I thought the episode was good, not great, it was just the setup for the final act with River and eyepatch lady..... That was the best part of the episode. Everything else was filler..

Yes there was the great lines "I'm so old" and all but that's how I feel. For me the last act was the best.

I think we need the "filler" episodes to balance the action-packed & emotionally fantastic finales.

It was more than a filler to me, I found it very enjoyable and moving.
