Basically. Everyone is born with one year's worth of time on their hand watch thing.
When they turn 24 or maybe 25 I can't remember, the time starts ticking down. So then yeah, to continue to live they have to earn more time. Instead of money they pay with time etc.

A super 'time rich' guy who had lived for 103 years got over living and so gave all his millions of hours to JT
