Episode Day 4 (11/09/14) Daily Show

Yes, I think he might have shot himself in the foot, with his antics. Oops :)
I was glad Sam went and apologised to Katie when he found out she was upset but guess we need to find out if he was genuine or not.
I think he seemed mad that girls hadn't originally told everyone their money for coming from the prize money...thought they were being sneaky.

But it's ridiculous to think they were being "sneaky".

I mean, this was told less than 24 hours after the challenge has begun, and they have told them that it came from the total prize money, so how is that sneaky?

Wouldn't sneaky be telling them towards the end of the 7 days? Makes no sense.

But, yeah, was good to see him go and apologise. It's easy to be critical (even when they are being stupid), but they are all starving and have nothing to do but bitch.

I thought because of the NRL finals, that Ch 9 had BB on GO tomorrow at 7 30 p.m. for a 30 minute episode?
They do. But it varies in each state. We don't get the NRL at the same time as you guys (thank god). I believe Sydney and Brisbane have BB on Go at 7:30pm, while the rest of us get to enjoy it at 8pm on Channel 9. :p

Because possibly Sam or others thought they were trying to hid the fact about the prize money part, so the HM's wouldnt get mad about living on shakes all week, when the girls were getting a 'free' $10k each. Priya and Katie said they forgot all about it, which may seem too convenient to the others?

I think some of the HM's would have been even more mad if they found out after the week was up lol but wouldnt have pressured the girls as much to spend it, if it wasn't coming out of the prize money?

Like I said, it's illogical to think someone is being sneaky when they give them information on the first day of a 7 day challenge.

Katie needs to GTFO! She said Priya made her take the money! The second the HMs turned on them she basically said it's all Priya's fault, blame her. Own up and take responsibility for you pr own shit!!!! Get the fuck out of the house Katie!!!!

I can't remember the other pairings, but BB said these 2 WEREN'T a good match. Its starting to show already. I think most of the others were good matches and the ones that BB threw together, were good matches too.

Quite evident that Priya did manipulate her.

Remember when Priya said she used reverse psychology?

I don't blame for what Priya did though, I would have done the same thing to get 10k, although should have been a little more subtle.

I fell asleep earlier and have only just watched the episode.

I can’t believe Katie already caved and bought a coffee. I think it’s funny that Katie wants a security device for her purse.

Travis is going to get on my nerves very very quickly.

Katie annoys me. I feel that she’s trying to create drama – or she’s just a very anxious person.

I like how Priya didn’t chuck a big fit over the money going missing. She was concerned (and rightly so) but she just was proactive and found it. I felt for her vomiting though. Poor thing.

Skye is a funny one. I liked her comment after the diner about N O fullstop. We will see what she has to offer more on.

I do like the drama the money is creating but it annoys me how upset some people are getting over it. Travis is a freaking nong. I can’t wait for him to be evicted. It’s so easy for contestants like Travis and Lisa to say “this is what I would have done” when they aren’t in the position themselves. I wish I could go talk to Priya and Katie and tell them to not spend a cent. Meal replacement shakes for a week isn’t going to kill any of them. I can understand that food in there would be very important but just try to distract yourselves. It’s week 1. I bet they all indulged a bit too much in lockdown the week before. It aggravates me so much.

Travis learn some English. “Youse” “Youse” “Youse”. My gosh.

Katie has no backbone.

Ok ok be positive. I like Priya’s tattoos =)

I can't remember the other pairings, but BB said these 2 WEREN'T a good match. Its starting to show already. I think most of the others were good matches and the ones that BB threw together, were good matches too.

The pairings were

Priya and Katie = Bad
Jake and Gemma = Bad
David and Sandra = Good
Dion and Jason = Good
Skye and Lisa = Bad
Travis and Ryan = Good
Sam and Cat = Good
Aisha and Lawson = Good

Katie has a habit of asking really stupid questions.

She is just insecure and is worried about how people think of her. She's trying to please everyone.

Which makes me wonder who would have been the good matches or if they were designed to have some just be plain bad.

Priya was told one of Katie or Jake would be a good match. Katie is a bad one so that would mean Priya and Jake would have been good. Then Katie would have come to the stage and would have had to chose from Gemma or David (if I recall correctly). Lets say she chose Gemma because that would make sense with David and Sandra being good matches.

Then we go to Skye and Lisa.... Could Skye have been a good match with anyone? (Did Skye pick from Lisa or Travis?). I just wonder.

I wrote this in another thread, but look at it this way. These two girls took $20,000 from the winner. The winner could be any of the other house mates.

So why exactly is it fair for them to take money from the winner? But not fair at all for any housemates to want to take any part of that 20 grand from the girls?
But where does it say that all the money goes to the winner? And doesn't Big Brother reserve the

I thought the bit were BB got them to tell the house it was part of the prize money was pretty unecessary, there was already enough drama with the diner. Overkill.

I think the HM's initially were ok with the girls getting $10k each because they thought they were taking the money to leave, so were relieved when they were staying, plus the novelty of being in the house was still new.
BB does like to mess with the HM's minds..they all thought they were going to have to survive on protein shakes for the week but then find out there is a Diner with very yummy food, and that the 20k came out of the $250k prize money...and so hell broke out lol

I didnt see anywhere, where the girls explained that they had THREE different options. $100.00 each and no loss for anyone. $1000.00 each and shakes for 3 days and $10,000.00 each and shakes for 7 days. To me it was always a no brainer to take the money. Spending it, or letting themselves be bullied into spending it, defeats their purpose for taking the money in the first place. Poor strategy on their part, if they fall for it. As for the diner, its always been obvious to me, that if they were prepared to spend early, the prices would go up. BB wants to get the $20,000.00 back. Then it may, or may not, be added back to the prize money. Dont forget the year when they amassed over $200,000.00 in fines and this came off the winners prize money. I think that was the year Jamie won it and he pissed $100,000.00 away within a month. Neanderthal.

Thanks Kaz, I thought there were more good, than bad matches.

Hadn't seen the episode yet, but here's what I'm thinking so far based on your posts:

ha ha ha stolen money belt.......surely this is why they let them have the money in the house

I knew it! I knew the money would get stolen somehow. That's what happens when you have $20,000 in loose bills around 16 desperate people. It looks like it'll be a mad, mad, mad house this year.

You know the BB house is getting to you when "The coffee was ONLY 30$". That's 30 of your very real dollars honey, you ain't getting it back.

And coffee doesn't even taste that good! It's bitter. Why would anyone want to pay anything to drink it?

How much is the prize money this year?

As of right now, $230K (and decreasing). This is even better than the "$5,000 fine for not wearing a mic" system they had in '05 (of course, they started at a million and it went down, so they had more to lose).

Jake says he would be sharing the money. He obviously didnt learn gameplay from @Timdormer

You can't compare a hairdryer vs. Ben & Jerry's to food vs. $20,000.

Does the money they spend on food go back into the prize money?

I certainly hope so. I don't think it's been this low since 2006 (of course, I hadn't seen that season).

Big Brother better raise the prices!

Oh believe me, Big Brother's going to raise the rates. Either that, or he'll make HMs do stupid things to earn the money back (remember the "spending spree" from '12?).

If the 10k was mine I wouldn't be giving anyone anything. Maybe the odd meal here and there during the second half of the week, to those who have been sucking up to me and kissing the ground I walk on. Let the other HMs fight over who will dote on me enough to win a plate of chips. But not on Day 1. Not to dickheads screaming at me about how this money is theirs too. Not to liars pretending that if the shoe was on the other foot they'd be throwing money at all the HMs and still be happy if they walked out with $100 left over.

The good thing is, next week a new pair will be HoH and we will see who puts their money where their mouth is and who will be exposed as the giant hypocrites they really are. I love it!

If it were me, and I knew that it would be coming out of the prize fund and I wouldn't be eating for a week, I'd only take the $100. I love money, but I don't want the HMs to throw all their nom points my way.

This isn't a million-dollar season (or even half-a-mil like the US version). This is a quarter-of-a-mil, they're on a budget. Tax free, too. Somebody's life has to change in some way with this money.

It never was theirs, it was Big Brother's money and they reduced the prize fund by offering the money to someone else. And in any case the prize money is still plenty, so it's really nothing much anyone should whinge about.

$230,000 is plenty? I'm sorry, I am just amazed and taken aback at the 2004-06 "Million Dollar Big Brother" era. This show used to have a huge budget. Cars for evictees, a huge cash jackpot for the winner, trips during FNL...... What happened?

Realistically I think there was only 1 option - the 10000. What would the point of just 100 be? And why take 1000 just to annoy people for 3 days. The full amount seemed the only option to me. Explaining to people that they could have taken less would not have been a good idea. BB actually forcing them to tell the others that it was from the prize money was bad enough.

I felt that it would have been best to leave a small amount of spending to the end of the week, as that would have helped gain them goodwill then and so not have totally defeated the purpose of taking the money. It was clever of BB to start low with the coffee knowing there was someone apparently addicted to it there.

So not one single scene in this episode was about anything other than the money twist. Boring to the extreme.

For what it's worth if I were in their position I would tell them about the $1000 option and the $10,000 option - and then tell them they could have taken $25k and put the HMs on the shakes for 2 weeks.

Oh I see. Lie about it.

Now, I like to eat. If I didn't have the money, I'd more than likely bug them out of a few hundred dollars. Either that, or take it up directly with BB.

Me: "Big Brother, why are your prices so high? I mean, $100 for a meal, that's ridiculous."
BB: "There is something you must understand. Has anyone ever told you, about supply, and demand? When there is extreme demand for food, and there is only one supplier, namely Big Brother, the supplier has ultimate control. Besides, you are not starving. Big Brother would never starve a housemate."
Me: "Would you drink what we're drinking?"
BB: "Big Brother, will get back to you. Prices will stay where they are. Please, do not take it up with Big Brother any further, as his hands are tied. Is there anything else?"
