Episode Day 2 Live Special and 13th HM - 10/11/2025

It’s too similar to what 7 was doing on many levels. Look what happened to that.
Definition of insanity is doing the same thing over again and expecting a different result. We’re now in our third era now where they’ve tried repackage and retool the show in the name of appealing to a modern audiences… This strategy didn’t work for Nine or 7 and 10 reviving the live feed is only going to carry them so far. It’s only going to be so long before the returning casuals realize this isn’t the show they remember. I’m so over being fed crap and being told that if I don’t like it then fuck off.

Definitely.

Also, BB set the foundation for how most other reality shows are produced. Now instead of keeping their footing as “the original” they’re just borrowing concepts from their copycat shows.

im not a fan of the new editing style, the jump cuts between something happening and then the housemates in the diary room and back and forth, I prefer the traditional style of editing. And the therapist big brother giving the pep talks just feels off. But I get it, the original was 24 years ago, people have changed tv has changed.

Not asking for a carbon copy of the 2000s. But maybe somewhere in between?

It’s extremely sad to see. For months they’ve had a captive audience willing to tell them how to build a successful show and they’ve pissed quite a bit of that away. Most of the positives I’ve seen so far are coming from the basic casual viewer not the loyal fans. Watch something happen to their golden boy Colin and we’ll see how many of them are willing to stick around.

I can deal with a slick production value or a house full of Zoomer lingo. What I can’t deal with is a BB that doesn’t trust its HM’s, its viewers, or its core format. People who are willing to write off what we’re seeing as “times have changed” don’t see the whole picture. It’s changed? Says who?

“times have changed”

"times have changed" has always been and will always be the biggest bullshit and I don't know why people are eating this claim up. It's what Nine used when they've killed the live feeds. It's what Seven used when they've killed the live broadcasts. Both turned out to be stupid decisions.

"Times have changed" really is the lamest excuse for changes that you can't explain otherwise.

Can we crowd fund our own BB series?

Start your own YouTube channel now, maybe Banijay will roll out their Creators Lab to other countries. It's an initiative where five YouTubers get a chance to rework one Banijay format each with Banijay supplying some funds and producing a pilot. One of the formats picked is the BB rip-off Dilemme. I'm curious how that one will end up.

The most annoying thing about it is there’s rarely if anything to back it up. If it really has changed and this is the best we’re going to get I’d much rather nothing than another sad attempt to keep BB going. I have way more fun with my delusions of what I think the show could be again and what I’d do to get it there than I do watching it be beaten to death by a team of people who are supposed to be in the business of producing entertainment.

The curse of popularity is it's far too many posts to catch upon but not a bad second show. Could do without the dramatic music behind the DRs but from the comments I saw before watching it wasn't anywhere near as bad as I feared. The "cliffhanger" should have been resolved live though.

Mel is killing it. Next test will be noms - hopefully in week 1 the HMs are given some leeway rather than interrupted constantly until producers get their soundbite.

I think it's hard to find a reality show that has a more basic approach to editing, but I'd refer to other content that are somewhat similar to Big Brother of the old days. Take podcasts.. every idiot launches one these days and most of them have a rather basic approach to storytelling. I don't see why that wouldn't work for Big Brother.

There are also some factual series that do just fine with a more basic approach. I've seen plenty of true crime series that let the images speak and don't need to add sad music to surviving dependants telling their stories.

And for Big Brother playing therapist and interacting with the housemates: Where is the therapist on other Love Island, Love is Blind, The Traitors? With something like that, it makes even less sense to argue that times have changed, because that's somewhat unique to the current generation of Big Brother (not just in Australia)
