Yeah, it's like ITV, Channel 7, Channel 10, and BBUS all rolled into one. The constant music in the live shows is even giving me BBCAN / European BB vibes.

I personally don't dislike it, but it's definitely not the OG BBAU we were promised.
 
I thought tonight was a great ep. even though the editing isn’t favourable, i still think there’s a lot of elements they’ve nailed. house and stage looks great, housemates are awesome and so is mel.

initially i was fully against them adding in music to any edits. surprising to me i actually liked the music they played while mel was talking, it made a fun vibe.
i was also fully against any music in the daily show, however, i look back and honestly some 10 era daily shows felt slow and unbearable at times. i think music is fine at the start of ep and transitions or maybe during some funny light hearted moments to add a funky/bubbly vibe, but i don’t like when it’s used to convey emotion like when colin was crying or to make moments more tense like when bb was telling the task. that’s for me when it feels overly edited and manipulative and takes away the authentic social experiment bb feeling.

but the live show felt much better tonight then the rushed edited launch.

Fair argument, I feel like it’s better off left out completely. I want the daily shows to feel like simple scenes captured on camera that were eavesdropping in on.

Scenes in the diary room should absolutely not be treated as retrospective confessionals nor should there be any production interference trying to sway us to think positively of a housemate. That should be organic.

But I can understand your point about sometimes the old school daily shows feeling slow.

Problem with the music is it’s a cheap copyright free music and the first track they found.

I really don’t feel when someone is crying you need to play a cheap snob song to make the audience feel something.
 
agreed DR should not be used as confessionals, feels very un-BB.

don’t get me wrong as an OG fan, i would rather them not play music. i only think music is somewhat okay during transitioning scenes or at the start of the ep, however never when moments or actual footage is playing out, apart from the once in a blue moon light hearted moment. Rn it feels like it’s played during 40% of the daily show footage, however i think it should go down to 5%.

i think that’s a good medium that helps modernise the format against all the highly produced shite on TV.

Sadly this forum isn’t like it used to be. It was filled with proper super fans who brought great insight and not as immature. Nice to see some familiar names with clever comments.

You’re honestly a fucking troll. You were here hyping the 7 era and here you are again… I don’t think a single one of us OG BB fans truly expected to see a carbon copy of the 2000’s series but we we’re sold a series that would carry the same DNA. That “DNA” is authenticity… I saw none of that in the first daily show.

You also say that there’s no production interference? Excuse me? The entire first to last task is nothing but production interference. Taking away HM’s luggage… Production interference. Giving someone access to clothes but not allowing them to access their own…Production interference.

I also don’t know how you can say that OG BB “would work” in the modern era when no one has even tried. It’s quite honestly a cop out. BB isn’t going to be successful again by imitating the shows it inspired. Its success is going to come by focusing on what makes BB different from these other shows. Like I said above it’s authenticity that sets BB apart.
