Yeah this is what we need to accept tbh. It was the 2000s/early 2010s and people still watched TV as families and people discussed television shows at work/school/social events. The world has changed and so has the way we consume media.
Absolutely. I said it elsewhere, but a genuine reflection of our society includes people who are - to some degree - public personas. We all have platforms and are capable of controlling our own exposure within our comfort levels. Raw unexposed talent that is capable of making good TV would be even harder to find these days.

People should be cast on the merit of their personality and their intentions, not excluded solely on the basis that they're media literate or comfortable with attention. We easily forget how the OG casts - all the way back to series 1 - had fame whores among them too. Some of them were even pretty popular.

Did you see yourself on TV @BB12?

I couldn’t help but notice this very cute guy by the stage. 😍

I don’t recall anyone comparing Mel to Gretel. Mel has had non-stop praise on here since she was announced.

I agree with your post though. I think the disappointment of the closer similarities to 7 and the current BBUK models compared to the original 10 model are echoed pretty much by most on here. Some high up producer somewhere thinks the UK version is the model template for how the show should be produced. As many have said, a little more originality would’ve gone a long way.

The house is a whole other rabbit hole. They can’t do anything about the piss poor house decisions now, but they can certainly tweak some other stuff, such as the editing style.

It’s a promising start and I hope some effort is put into refining their product.
Yeah to be fair I only saw one post comparing Mel to Gretel. The consensus has been overwhelmingly positive.

Regarding the BBUK thing. I’m worried if this is the template the producers are following, as appears to be the case, does that mean any hope of a longer series next year is dashed? BBUK is 6 or maybe 7 weeks max I think? Happy to be corrected on that.

In his intro video, Vinnie gave me Blair’s intro vibes.

I think the “quiet” people will be the first to go. It’s vote to save. You see it in “I’m A Celebrity” the invisible ones go first.

What are you on about? What you’re referring to in terms of being public personas and “media literate” is more or less what justifies consideration for celebrity big brother, which in all fairness hasn’t really cast legitimate celebrities in years. It’s prime for influencers and other reality show participants. Not to mention the heaps of comments over the last 12 months or so since the reboots announcement specifically saying that no one wants to watch influencers. It’s on just about every comment thread about the show.

This is civilian big brother. It’s for your day to day no-name civilians.

Is it weird that I actually saw this shot last night and thought he/you was cute?
This is genuinely the only shot of the crowd that stood out to me 🤣

Although to be very critical the crowd seemed so boring and unenthusiastic.
I've been watching the UK version the last few seasons and the older seasons before that and they seem to have great crowds!

I think it would be really cool to have one of the current UK housmates be evicted and come directly to the Australian BB house for a week or so just to liven things up in the early days.

Having a a social media platform doesn't make someone a celebrity. Influencers are not necessarily celebrities. People that have audiences are not necessarily influencers. It's not that linear. And this is where I believe intentions are more important.

Holly is the only one in the house who I question at this point.

I actually think it will be the opposite and the "quiet" people will stay because these days people are just fed up with the loud ones they could watch on other shows or just social media in general. Colin and Vinny are just people i could go onto youtube and watch, there are so many people like them online and a lot of people just want to see people that are different and that are/very different and aren't as easily accessible online.

He is the one person I really wanted to get to know more but now I can't stand him and I couldn't imagine having to live with him. Unfortunately the "underwear boys" will be a main feature of what is shown on TV. I hope that the group wont last long because seeing stupid 20 year olds isn't entertaining and you can view that kind of crap on youtube. I want to see more of people like Allana, Emily, Mia and even Michael even tho I wont agree with a lot of his views.
I find it very odd that they chose a group of people where the youngest would obviously form a group that would get together and outshine the others.

At the momebt It seems like Vinny, Colin, Bruce, Holly and Coco are the group in charge and are only minutes away from a gangbang
The whole dynamic has been thrown out because of poor casting.
Well said. The casting has completely missed it with the names u mentioned. I often wonder what goes through producers heads. I'd rather watch a 40yo aussie farmer or truck driver then them lot

its just that, as other people have said, despite the huge hype/lean into the OG BBAU format, the vibes felt... off for a lot of the launch night.
We are long time fans and where promised a return to normal people and the og big brother and thats not what we got. No the launch wasn't terrible but not as they promised

Im so pissed that farmer didnt get in who had his video uploaded on YT in one of the first lots. He seemed like a real character

I'm happy to be proven wrong, but let's check back in a few weeks and see exactly what "the people" really want. 😉
