Episode Day 0: 2025 launch day taping spoilers and speculation

Anything in the papers about the house and housemates today? I remember back in OG days there’d be massive spreads. I remember because I used to collect the newspaper clippings and made a scrapbook. Talk about obsessed haha.
This is the kind of energy we love!

Was funny when the last housemate (Michael) was convinced he knew all the housemates ages, jobs and where they were from, as he saw the below post on TikTok or Insta just before lockdown. He was curious about meeting a 45 year old student from QLD. Mel said something like "Uhh.. can you read?" And he even reaffirmed it haha missed the whole point of the post that they're all scrambled.

I always thought the point of Big Brother was to have a true cross section and representation of society?

I want to see thought-provoking conversations between people who ordinarily wouldn’t stray outside of their social bubble and live in an echo chamber.

Paul and Merlin was the probably the closest we ever really got to that - and not for the physical conflict, but for the nature of their argument.

I want to see thought-provoking conversations between people
People say this and then it actually plays out on TV and they get turned off completely. Mostly because the conversations are rarely thought provoking it's just two people talking at each other. Then half the audience is pissed off cos their side didn't "win". It partially works in BBUK but Australians in general hate this.

Oh my god. It was dark times
Imagine being selected to go on the show and then be told "hey before you go in the house we need you to dance gungnam style in front of a green screen". I would walk out.

Worse - it was mid season. They told them about the popularity of Gangnam Style on the outside, had instruction videos played throughout the house then set up a a green screen and mini film studio in the house to film the promo during the season!

It's hit the media. Cue the casual viewers' backlash over it not being live...

Sorry if addressed, I can't keep up lol

Talk about sensationalism.

"Audience members who had gathered for the launch episode fled as conditions worsened, despite frantic pleas from producers for them to stay."

Not once did I hear producers "pleas", and we literally just walked out to the lockers area, and tried to get undercover, then Mike made all the games in the gaming area free.

"Witnesses say frustrated producers were overheard demanding that the audience be made to stay – but their pleas fell on deaf ears."

Mike was the one that said we're gonna take a 15 minute break, which then turned into like 90 minutes haha. No one demanded shit.

It might have been something you weren't aware of happening, as someone else that was at the filming confirmed they heard the pleas. Might not have been to the degree the article has made it out to be though.

@jaydee Is there any truth to Rob McKnight's claims that producers were begging audience members to not leave during the pause?

Yes! Only cos it was raining and people left. Lucky there was a RACQ night

Just ignore it. It may not be entirely untrue, but he used terminology and words used by members’ post here (I was the one who merely theorised about the producers “scrambling”) and probably ChatGPT’d a sensationalised article for clicks. I’ve seen other people on social media who were there also calling it out as overly dramatic. Don’t worry about it.

Ahh true, yeah I could have missed that. I know for a fact they were bringing people in from the Fan Pit, and after the rain had settled I noticed people without arm bands coming in, so I assume producers had asked randoms to come fill the empty spaces.

Yeah there were definitely some 'pleas' form the producers but that article makes it sound overly dramatic.

Jonathon noticed my partner and I going to our lockers and asked if we were leaving. He said something along the lines of 'i don't care what you bring in with you, just come back please'. Jokingly referring to the fact our phones had been locked up.

Lowkey felt sorry for him, I reckon he would've put so much time and energy into the build up, and he was stoked to be working on the show again, I'm sure if he had it his way there would've been a roof.

Speaking of Rob again, he went on MediaSpy to deny he turned off the comments for the article. However, if you manipulate the site to still attempt to post a comment on the story, you get this error:

So they have been intentionally turned off.

Can't even report on his own actions accurately. 🤦
Not defending Rob at all, but he is not the only person running that site. There are at least 3-4 other people and one of them could have seen what was happening and turned off the comments.

For those that were there last night, how bad was the rain when filming restarted? Someone that lives nearby but wasn't actually at Dreamworld was saying last night that the rain was still there, it was just the lightning that had passed.

He posted comments on the article himself responding to Behind Big Brother as a whole before they were all nuked. He also claimed to have only learned about the comments this morning. So he's full of shit.

Long story short, sounds like they just wanted someone to be in the house just to be a fucking shit-stirrer!
There is one housemate that is an incredibly risky choice. We’re taking a big risk as TV producers, but there’s somebody who I think people will love and and I think that the risk is more ours as producers and how to make the show work. I sort of say, it’s like if you hopped on a bus and you looked around, it’s like a group of people that you would never see in a house together under any other circumstances. […] Everyone’s got something to them. There’s a young man who’s in his mid 20s, who believes that we should live like it’s the 70s, and women should be home makers, and men should come home with fish and chips. There’s a real cross section of characters who are, I think, all lovable in their own way. But also, there’s some firecrackers.”
