confused about Ben

I don't know hey, Ben's been through so much in his life, one disaster after another. I don't think he can exaggerate the fact he is on centerlink, his family being poor, losing his sister, losing the family home...those type of things just bring a tear to my eye. If those kind of things are acts then what he's doing is inhumane in my opinion

I've never heard anything about losing the family home? Could be possible but he owns his own home so even though he's unemployed at the moment he's not exactly poor
he was a flight attendant who i think has thrown it away to pursue comedy but it's a hard long process to get your name out there [that's where BB fits into the equation) that's why he's on unemployment benefits

I saw on his mums' FB page that his sister is overseas's in the UK i think and she watches him on youtube

See, the thing is. I get the impression most people just feel sorry for him. Want to mother him.

Yes he can be entertaining, but it's such a tiny part of the show. Most of him is him being a sooky baby man, or speaking to photos and other lame ass non entertaining stuff.


The show isn't a showcase for a comedian to come in, do their own thing away from the housemates to win. He is doing nothing to deserve to win.

Tim and Tahan bring the most to the house but i don't think either of them deserve the money
Ben can be funny but i think he's got himself a career out of this so probably doesn't deserve it either
mikkis tantrums and Eds nothingness really don't deserve it
And no way do the two love sick puppies deserve it

I've come to the conclusion that Ben is not being 100% genuine in the house, but really other than the housemates in season 1 who has ever really been genuine??
I'd still not be upset if he won

Just to clear up any confusion, when you say "wonderful people", you mean internet stalkers, yes?

Have some of you never heard of a multi-dimensional personality? Moods are meant to be interchangeable, it is not a diagnosis for bipolar, it is normal behaviour. Some of you people in here must have personalities that are as bland as porridge not to understand this basic fact. And as for being 100% genuine, apart from Jesus, who is? I for one can tell you, when I say I am happy to see you and I ask how you are, I really am not happy to see you and I don't give a fuck, this = non genuine! Welcome to the real world.

This whole loss story is pathetic. I don't want to make it personal but it really bothers me that Ben gets centrelink and is a man fully capable of working when my father who is legally permanently disabled from the back from a court case cant get centrelink for a stupid technicality(it is unbelievable what they have in the fine writing). Its frustrating that money is going to him and he is spending it on blue-ray.

That aside I don't think Ben is being sincere, and i always notice a shift in behaviour when he talks to Tim.

NO! He doesn't deserve to win because he has been pushed unfairly by BB production with all the favouritism. If not for that I'd say ok, but I think he would have been so much more entertaining being his (apparently) funny, witty, acerbic self. I don't find his current "role" very entertaining most of the time & he has actually shown himself to be quite a selfish & self-centered person on top of all the other namby-pamby characteristics.

There is definitely more to Ben than he lets on and we are all picking up on the glimpses of it as evidenced by comments in various threads. I think he is a smart guy, and he is exaggerating a side of he personality as it might support his goal of wining BB. He has provided some funny moments but I don't think he deserves a win or has provided entertainment as much as Tim or even Tahan, andBB has definitely favoured him which is unfair.

As an aside when Tim was asking various 'friendship' questions of Ben the other day, 'would you let me sleep on the couch', 'would you let me borrow your car' etc, Ben's semi fed-up response of 'ok then would you lend me your kidney' was very funny but also showed once again he has smarts and strength of attitude he can pull out of the bag when he wants.

He has been pushed unfairly but that isn't his own doing it's not fair to judge him badly based on that
Whatever he's doing i find him more interesting than any of the others and i guess that's what it comes down to, who you're happy to keep watching and who you just want off your TV lol

Well, I guess you can just look at Ben and tell that he's had a bit of adversity in his life...

I wish he had learnt how to deal with them in a more healthy way and live a better life.

And I wish all the strength to people going through tough times. I, too, have been through a lot of serious stuff and I can still power through! There's always hope.

Yep, that did it for me too. It was very Reggie-esque too, but that's for another thread. But to be fair, it must be such an adrenalin rush up on that stage, your mind would race and you wouldn't necessarily speak from the heart. Maybe in a future interview he would be more forthcoming.
