Is anyone else surprised at how many celebrities take naked photo's of themselves? And more, that they also take photo's of themselves having sex? Is this just a regular thing all people do, famous or not, and I have missed the train?

I'm not that surprised. I would say more people take photos like that, of themselves, than not. At least of the younger generations.

I think maybe when they are famous and travelling the world it's harder to maintain intimate relationships. So they probably do this for their significant others. Maybe. My guess anyway.

At 23 you would think I would not have missed this trend.

Makes sense, but you would think they would have learned from all the ones that came before. Someone needs to tell them about SnapChat.

Possibly it's just a trend you've chosen to ignore :p Snapchat's not so safe either, to be honest if I was in any way famous I would be pretty careful about taking any photos like that, no matter who for.

Probably. I have not got the request and I don't feel like I need them for my personal photo library.

SnapChat's not safe because of screen-grabs or some other reason? I agree, its better to take the Emma Watson approach.

I don't actually have the app so I can't say for certain but I think you can screenshot and it just tells the other person, and there's even a third party app that does it without telling?

I know about the screen shots, but as long as you are sending them to your SO they should not screen shot them. Anyway, its probably best to just avoid that whole minefield and use your memory.

Sorry this is a bit all over the place.

Be careful, some one may come here accusing you of victim blaming woman. We're meant to accept this as being complete normal behavior that should be encouraged and not question any aspect of the fact they have so many nudes. The only angle of looking at this is how horrible and disgusting boys and men are for wanting to see these.

Someone on facebook posted a link to some long article about how horrible Ricky Gervais is because he made a tweet saying, 'celebrities, make it harder for hackers to get nude pics of you from your computer by not putting nude pics of yourself on your computer.' There's been a bunch of articles on this around.

Now I don't know if it's a male perspective, but my first reaction was why would they risk this? After how many leaked videos and pictures certainly you should be more careful. As I read some one some where say, 'if you're an attractive celebrity, it should not be surprising that people want to see you naked.'

I don't understand why saying that any of this is a problem. Yes their privacy shouldn't have been breached and all that. It is not victim blaming to say the chance of this happening isn't exactly out of the blue. I shouldn't have to lock my front door or my car. Doesn't mean it is not a smart measure to do.

As to why they take them, I think there's some normalization of behavior and proliferation of cameras. With famous people though I think the simple fact of being a young attractive celebrity makes you extra sensitive to how tyou look. So from that point of view, taking some pictures of yourself naked or partially dressed would come from that and is in some way understandable.

People have grown up with cameras always around. I don't understand the whole sexting thing but cell phones with cameras didn't really happen until I was 20 and even in high school most people didn't have phones. So I think there is something where people take pictures.

There also may be an influence of people being more exposed to porn. I keep reading about how every young person is now watching hard core porn. Maybe there is an influence with that, where documenting, taking pictures, videos is in some way considered normal.......... well to some.

Also at younger ages people don't think about consequences the same way as adults, but in your 20s you should.

This to me gets into, if you're famous, it's unfortunate but you should be concerned that this stuff can get out. I don't know, i've never really had an ex send me anything. I could only imagine the reaction if I was asking one to send me nudes. Although I did recently date a girl briefly who for some reason showed me some pictures she was sending to an ex of hers to make him jealous. That's another story for another day though.

I assume a celebrity should know better than to send them. I wouldn't trust or want anyone with nudes of me and no one would be interested in seeing them.

The thing is, when ever we read about the evils of teens sexting, you always have people telling kids not to take these pictures because they will get out and stay out for ever. Yet for celebrities having pictures out there, you're not allowed to say that.

cant seem to find a link to the video but Daily Show with Jon Stewart did a good segment covering it..
anyone else have a link?

Just for some context, I'm a 20 year old woman and I wouldn't call what SES said as victim blaming (I know you wouldn't either, I'm just reiterating). I agree that if you're a celebrity you should be more careful with the photos you take, of course your photos are going to be sought after (by both men and women). I don't think they should be ridiculed for taking them though, there's a lot of reasons people take nudes, not all of them good reasons, but there shouldn't really be any shame in it. People in the public eye should definitely be much more careful though. Everybody who takes them should, really.

I find it odd that people take selfies or video themselves having sex if I am going to be completely honest. Like how can they really have been in the moment and can it have been that good, that you needed to pause and take a pic? It's strange for me in that way. plus it's a personal moment for me, I couldn't understand it from my view. But I'm not against them doing it either. Whatever interests them and works for them- go right ahead, but be cautious. The thing is though, even if they did have these stored on their phone and they were being very careful, I find the fault is with the hackers. It's an invasion of privacy and I can't fault the stars of this at all. So yep it's weird that this is a thing now, but I can't blame them for the lack of caution if you know what I mean.

In saying all this, I have taken the part naked selfie before. I'm slightly older and wiser and I still think it was fun at the time. Actually, I even admit I still sometimes will send my hubby pics now and again. It's just fun and I like to keep it interesting. I trust him to know that the pics are deleted and I do the same immediately. That's what it comes down to in the end, trusting the person your with for many, and ensuring that pics are removed to reduce the risk that they are not forgotten and end up with the wrong person.

New thread, post your naked selfies!

The pics weren't really that. Like people hanging out on beds taking pics of each other. Not really engaging in sex. Posing and so forth.
