Big Brother NOT getting The Blocks Timeslot

On CBS, Evictions are usually on at 9 on Thursday nights, right after two sitcoms. Of course, this BB isn't as family-friendly as Nine's is trying to be.

It may not be the same as the old Channel 10 days, but I don't think that's necessarily what people want. The old days are often used as a reference point, sure, but that's because there's nothing else to really compare it to, save for international versions and whatnot. Similar to the old Channel 10 days is probably a better way to put it. Honestly, if Nine brought back the show and had proper live streaming/updates, coherent editing and story lines, legitimate adult content, a functioning freakin' website, coupled together with whatever changes and twists they wanted to do that didn't affect the core ideals of the entire format, then the complaining would resume to the complaining these forums have always been famous (infamous?) for. The issue only exists because they literally stripped away the entire point of Big Brother; the entire concept.

You can't say to me, "Well, any Big Brother is better than no Big Brother" when what we're given is pretty far from what Big Brother actually is! What we're getting is a mash up of other reality shows (which would've, ironically, all been inspired by Big Brother in the first place!) all wrapped up in a nice child-friendly bow, and it sucks. And it sucks not just in the sense that it's a shit season of Big Brother, but it's actually a shit show generally speaking. It's terribly put together. It's an actual mess of a television show.

And it's not even just "us" that thinks this either. As I said, usually "we" do tend to get a bit shitty regardless of what's going on, and "we've" been like that ever since the Channel 10 days when the general public didn't really have any problems. But I've spoken to people that have no real vested interest in the show, and I've read many comments on news articles, and I've gone through the #BBAU hashtag on both Twitter and Tumblr, and there's more backlash against the show for the same fundamental reasons most of us are complaining about than ever before.

You've always defended Big Brother no matter what, Goon, but you can't honestly be so blind this time around.

Well said Jake. I agree with everything.

@Goon we are complaining because the show is not reaching its full potential. If the way BB is going continues on Nine they might as well can it. Surely you can see why the fans are turning off and not connecting with the show??

Exactly and this time its not just us complaining, the general public on facebook and twitter are complaining about the same things.

Fuck!

I was looking forward to the show moving to the 7:30 slot. I find that if I am watching TV after 8:30 all I want to do is snack. I blame channel Nine for the 1.5kg I've gained since BB has been on. At least when it is on at 7:30 I'd only recently had dinner and am not hungry. I hate you channel Nine.

Starburst must be kicking themselves for not resigning as a Big Brother sponsor.

LOL you guys make me laugh.
BB has the opposite effect on me, totally lost my appetite.
I think i forgot to eat for 2 days.

I feed everyone else, then collapse in front of TV:)And completely lose my appetite.

Channel 9, are lost.
They have no sensibility for RTV. They have never run any actual RTV shows, and no long running soaps.
9's speciality is smash and grab audience stuff - their longest running shows - ACA, 60 Minutes, Footy show.
Should tell you something about that stations culture & perspective.
The Block - is not RTV, it is based on Melrose Place, and designed entirely as a soap.
The Block is 9's equivalent to H&A & neighbours, but has no way to capture the teen/tween audience, it scores with small kids and mums & dads, so that is what they skew BB toward..

9 seems to me the least tech savvy of all the networks, BB needs the MOST tech savvy station, bring it back to it's most winning elements - ie the multi-media platform/pushing every advance in technology, they should get computer and softwear/techie sponsors to take into the new world.
Get people who will embrace tech, not run away afraid like 9.

Interesting comments made by a few producers on Reality Check, anyone interested in BB should check all the episodes of this show.
The Melrose thing is not my fantasy - direct quote from Julian Cress, Block producer.

Think about who makes slick ratings grabber RTV style shows?
7, rating leader, and H&A producers.
They have a good grasp on pop culture, teens, their viewers, and the oldies love ém too for DWTS and shit.
Note - they cut Today Tonight.
But it is very doubtful 7's RTV has legs for years, ratings grabbers for a bit, but too tricksy to last - MKR is starting to smell.
They have stepped up though with TAR.

And who has made RTV that has run on, and on, and on - serial RTV?
10, BB, MC,Biggest Loser, Idol.
10 is the specialist in lasting substantial RTV, they have a totallydifferent perspective.
They understand embracing international audiences too - Neighbours & MC are still running mostly on overseas sales.

All the time I watch BB on 9, I have a creepy feeling Eddie, Sam and the entire Footy show vets the footage.
There is a dirty old man vibe about 9 and 9's BB, no matter how they try to skew it to families.

Well that's the issue in a nutshell, really. Channel 9 have more or less tried to build Big Brother from the ground up, when it wasn't at all necessary. And not only that, they've tried to build it in this made up fantasy land where technology and the internet don't actually exist. They needed only to expand on top of what already existed, and then take it to that next level. It honestly could've been fantastic had they not been so keen to distance themselves (in the complete wrong direction, mind) from the old days, but alas, Nine is made up of old media luddites. At least there's the satisfaction that time is running out for them and their backwards FTA network(s).

The BLOCK was a disgusting lier programable on the day of the big brother opening gala. The block promoted that they would had shown the australia a tour of the big brother house... Did they really even show any of that or was it a lie for telemarketing to make you think they where on it but mainly force you to watch the block thinking they where going to give you a a tour of the bb house.. Did they bloody even did so or was it a lie ? because i can';t stand that show.. so much tradie this and that...[DOUBLEPOST=1412433941][/DOUBLEPOST]The BLOCK was a disgusting lier programable on the day of the big brother opening gala. Also why bother having big brother show during the times of the BLOCK programe ? what do they tempt to do ? ratings? well they fail to do so. Have you seen much of the big brother promos lately ? i hasvnt.. it seems that channel 9 is more focus directly on the actual the block show instead. Hmm the while idea of bb doesnt match up... theres something odd that i dont understand..

The audience are dull and the housemates are almost like secret actors because they dont seem to be that shy against the cameras or anything like that since preview years housemates in the bb house was more intimated.. shyness because they know they are been watch.. this year is almost as if the housemates been living in the bb house for more then 100 days and it only just just begun........

Update... While Mondays remains at 8:30 , Tuesdays are moving to 7:30 (as suggested by the ticketbooth show times) from October 14 according to Foxtel. Wednesdays will probably be 8:30 still (again, based on the times listed on ticketbooth for audience members). Thursday and Friday are mysteries.

I believe this thing about the change of the times for the big brother show is getting like a circus... even the show is badly design because the producers of channel 9.

Some coutnries overseas shows the big brother programe late sometimes 10pm. Why always in aus the meaning for everything has to do with 7pm or 830pm ? does it matter if its on at 9 or 10 pm ? its not the end of the world.. Its not as if you must go to bed quickly. But aus with the used to watch prime time early and then go to bed well before midnight.

I believe channel 9 has made this thing like a circus.

Correct the things if they wanted to bring back big brother with the so much effort and so much work to be done for it to secure another session og big brother 2014.. then why do they end up having logical problems with the actual time each night for the daily shows.. I was wondering channel 9 should of had this done correctly well before the show had started. And stupid enough not a good thing to have multanius reality shows such as the block follow by the big brother. Also they should stop with the marathon double episodes of (the big bang theory) which i never watch it.. and they expect to put 2 episodes one after another and yet they know they have 2 programes ahead the block and big brother show.. expect to make the programes late ?

Also they make it out 840pm for big brother show to make it sound as if the show is longer then 2 hours straight because it finishes at 1010pm and it makes it out as if the show is very long when... its actually not. the number on that time is what is tricking your mind... nice try channel 9.

the news 6-7pm then ACA finish it by 730pm how about big brother on that time and not just waste our time by providing us american episodes of the big bang theory... a double episode and yet they know they have big brother comming up.. so why would they take that extra time for.. expect to have big brother really late and making it sound as if big brother is a lenthy programe when its not ? seriously everything your watching is nothing up to date... all 24 hours ago and badly editing design in that ridiculously year 2014 that ones was.

Know we have this stupid thing about the changes and times each night on channel 9... i knew channel 9 would never get things right.. They made a huge effort to bring back big brother show and knew that the show will be telecast each night and yet just yet they stuff things up with the actual clock time for programe for big brother...

Before they began with the show... i would say look at it carefully the session and whats on and all to avoid any delays or hickups... but instead they are typical the same just like last year.. and instead they wanted to shove in big brother show with the block programe.. WHY not have both programes in a diferent time of the year the block later in the year and big brother all for the early start of the year rather then clashing both sides... yeah i can see the publicity stunt.. wanna be high ratings. I believe its failing to do so.

Also remember you folks not getting enough out of big brother show.. if the show runs 30minutes think carefully due to the fact there are bombarded commercials every 5 minutes which then commercials last for a good 3 minutes before the show begings again which means the actual big brother show only lasted 20minutes for you.. but because there is commercials every 5 minutes... the show feels like its 30min but its not. Just 20 lazy minutes for big brother ? and yet sundays they have nothing ? and saturday nothing at all then why have big brother show in the first place ? and expect to see HIGHLIGHTS on a monday stuff that is well indeed outdated ? wake up channel 9 nothing is new in your station.

Yay!!!!!!!!

Finally I get to watch in real time!

Get your moderation stick out, because I am ready for a spanking!!!

I would have thought that Big Brother is Better than No Big Brother, but I guess not.
People throwing out that line are only thinking about the here and now because a shit Big Brother ultimately means No Big Brother - though I think everyone here agrees the best hope for BB Australia to have a future is for Nine to axe it in the hope Ten pick it up again.

Sadly though due to the petty attitude of the Aussie networks I suspect even if Nine don't want it they'll keep it just so Ten can't have it.

This isn't BB anyway, this is some unrecognisable mutated atrocity that needs to put down to end our misery.

That's good re: the Tuesdays but I hate the erratic scheduling. It kind of reminds me of what all networks do with shows they are trying to ditch, soon it will be on at 11pm and then 2am where all shows go to die.

But I'll be positive; hopefully the 7:30 show rates really well and gives it the boost it needs and hopefully makes production and nine reevaluate things.

My understanding is that Nine have a three year lease, as it were, for BB from Endemol. So if they don't renew the licence, it won't be axed, per se. And I somehow doubt Ten will want to pay the huge amount necessary to take the licencing back on.

PS: I am appalled at the news it may not be returning to its usual, earlier timeslot when the Block finishes. I am finding it difficult to engage in the later slot, and it screws my sleep schedule up badly - too much excitement on the forums, ha! - as does the return of freaking Daylight Savings. I've been holding out for after the 12th. Really disappointed.
