Big Brother house talk topic *Spoiler Warning*

nah cant do fixed cameras, then the HMs know EXACTLY when/what/who is being watched at any given time, defeats the purpose, they shouldnt have a clue, it'll make them behave differently if they could always see them.
and yes i know theres a couple in the yard.

the house is a lot smaller than it seems on tv due to the camera lenses, was definitely my first impression on visiting the house.
all two way mirrors look the same.
fluro lighting is the best and easiest tv lighting, that wont change.
tacky, if you say so.

looking at the pool island and how its looking pretty stripped out, i reckon theyre gonna turn it into an actual island, just chuck some sand in around the palm tree and presto! :P

more practically and realistically though, put grass around it and HMs can lie around on it, still being able to talk on it, and wont get sand in the pool ;)

Everyone is being watched all the time - and the fixed cameras emphasise the purpose, not defeat it. To my knowledge BBAus is the only version not to use them - and it's stupid not too. It's not as if the HMs don't know there are cameras behind the mirrors.

Personally if it was a choice between fixed cameras only or two-way mirror cameras only I'd opt for the fixed cameras.

but why?
what good would emphasising the purpose do?
i dunno about you, but if i saw a camera watching me, i might not behave the same way, if theres multiple people in the room, theres no way of knowing how closely youre being watched, but youd know with fixed cameras.
i dont see any benefit to fixed cameras....

The fact is HM's already know they are being watched and can hear the camera operators within the camera runs regardless... I don't see how fixed cameras would suddenly change the HM's behavior even if they know a camera is pointed in their direction... Almost every HM that I've ever heard from has said there is a point where you forget they are even there...

I agree with Brekkie that the point is emphasis the purpose...

BTW will there be pictures of the house pre-launch this year? Or will it spoil the twist?

I am pretty sure they had som last year in the house. But they were really high up close to the ceiling. But I agree. I think I makes it more unique.

I agree with Tw2gon this one. I see no benefit from using fixed cameras nor do I see a reason for a need to emphasize that they are being watched. I think tw2g was also right about acting differently with fixed. Seeing a camera turn and focus on you may make some people hold back somewhat and be reminded that they are being watched every second of the day whereas the mirrors are just always the same. Again, what are the pros of having fixed?

Of course fixed cameras would change their behavior! The reason they forget about the cameras is because they cant see them. If i was in there and saw a camera focus on me I'd probably double check what i was saying.

I see a lot of "emphasising the purpose" and not a lot of reasons of WHY fixed cameras are better.
HMs forget the cameras are there BECAUSE they can't see them (duh)

Remember, BBAU 2001 when they used to talk to the camera and get it to move?

IIRC, the decision was made to do away with them since they broke the "contact with the outside world" rule.

Mind you, that rule has since been bent all over the place.

That was Blair, IIRC he was squirting water at the mounted camera in the garden, whereupon the windscreen wiper would be activated. That first season they used a mix of hidden and visible cameras. Anyway it had nothing to do with contacting the outside world.

in 08 I remember they names the yard cam binky/blinky because they interacted with it, (windscreen wiper and nodding/shaking when they talked to it. that's not bending the rule, it's fucking broken.
