Big Brother back in 2025 on 10! AND LIVE!

Would they really be that scared of The Block? It’s in its 20th season now, has been on air non-stop for over a decade and hardly rates like it did in its prime. Also, it’s pretty poor for a TV network to bow down to its competitors if there is tough competition. That’s exactly when they should be trying to take down their rivals and give people an alternative. I don’t want to watch a renovation or cooking show. I want to watch Big Brother. There was a time when My Kitchen Rules was a juggernaut in the first half of the year, but then 9 put MAFS there and came out on top. You can't put the white flag up in these times.
The block still rates 1-2 million, so yes! Especially with BB being a huge gamble with 10.

For a 4 week season to finish in the ratings year it would have to begin on the 2nd or the 3rd of November, running until the 23rd or 24th.
Wouldn't that be 3 weeks?

TBA the way Aussie TV works starting on the 2nd November whether it's 3 weeks, 4 weeks, 6 weeks, 8 weeks or perhaps even 14 weeks it is just dead on arrival.

It’s not
It really is!
It’s $20 million.
It’s in the 4th quarter.
10s viewership is lower in that period.
Not a lot of people know who Mel is (she’s a gamble… she’s no Gretel)

The project (I know it’s not the best program) but it runs all year round.
I picked a random date from 2024:
January 29th - 606,000
December 20th - 223,000
That’s the difference of viewership from the start of the year to the end of the year, it drops significantly.

You realize that Gretel wasn’t a household name in 2001 either? Or how stupid you sound suggesting that 10 should relaunch one of their most successful franchises with their tail between their legs 🙄

I know she wasn’t a household name. But if you compare the 2, you can tell Gretel was already well seasoned in the first season.. Mel isn’t quite there.

They are gambling with BB anyway with making it only 4 weeks. How is it supposed to gain any traction? If it’s not a success, will they bother renewing next year? Is it even worth running an expensive show for such a short time? What happened to 10 being bold and taking risks? I would say 10 has rated lower in the last part of the year because they don't usually provide any competitive content at that time. Last year that last month was filled with Dog House clip shows and a Meghan & Harry documentary series. And the year before, the Bachelor franchise was on the way out.

If it is only 4 weeks a $20 million price tag is grossly inflated.

A four-week series isn’t going to let Mel have much time to grow as a host either. I have faith in her though and am willing to cut her some slack. She will need to find her feet. Sonia Kruger is a household name, but she wasn’t much of a BB host. Gretel grew into her role in Season 1 and the show kept building towards the end of the season.
