If not a Celebrity edition, I think 10 should find some other way of filling the 4 weeks with new BB content that doesn't result in a rushed series.
For instance, how about inviting younger (adult) family members or close friends of former housemates to enter the house and use this as a platform to reintroduce the concept of live BB to Australia. Have those former HMs interviewed during live shows to get their opinion on what their family member or friend may be thinking or feeling, or what they would (or did) do differently, speak about the thrill of eviction night and Australia embracing them live etc. Think of this as a prelude to a full and proper 2026 BB season.
Perhaps they could even play into this a bit by having parts of the house look as though they are not quite finished yet, I don't know
. As I'd presume there wouldn't otherwise be that much of a change house-wise from 2025 to 2026.

If it was a shortened season of former housemates playing for a charity for christmas or something, and a new proper run season in 2026 I would be fine with that given the circumstances now. I think rather something like that than all new people for only a month.

The record is 4 seasons in one year.. happened in Portugal a couple of years ago, when they had two 2-months celebrity seasons and a 1-month all-stars season back-to-back and then a regular 4-month season later in the year.
But I think even they are aware that it's not ideal and for the last two years, they tried to fill their schedule with a more diverse lineup of Big Brother-style shows. Don't think it worked that well though, because they're back to doing more Big Brother.. even though there is at least some variety in there by using the Secret Story format as well.
The year started with an all-stars edition of Secret Story, followed by the glass house twist being turned into its own Big Brother warm-up kind of show and then this year's regular civilian season of Big Brother. Which will immediately be followed by a summer edition of Big Brother, which relies on celebrities, influencers and regular visitors (similar to the German civilian season, I guess). I don't think they've made an official announcement for the last quarter of the year yet, but I guess it will be another run of Secret Story.
So depending on how people want to count seasons and spin-offs, it might be up to 5 seasons of Big Brother by the end of the year... even though I wouldn't count it as 5.
How annoying that Channel 7 already did that Back to Win season in 2022. An All stars for Ch10 would have been the perfect solution for this scenario. The 2022 season didn't rate well, but it did well enough to render another All Stars redundant 3 years later.
Although in saying that David, Reggie and Trevor would not be necessary for a third appearence. If this really is the case then TEN should consider contacting their specific alumni for a small returnee season. A four week series would be really unfair to both the audience as well as the cast.

I know, right? That's what led me to the idea to have past HM family or friends enter instead, and leave those past HMs to get involved in different ways. Otherwise if it is too same-same as 7's All Star season (cast wise) then I feel like it could remind potential viewers of all the wrong done by 7, leaving some to either not become as invested in 10's reboot or not bother with it at all ... no matter how well 10 pulls it off.
Exactly, this is a really frustrating stalemate for fans. I like the idea of cast member's families or something along those lines. If Masterchef wasn't so much locked in for April-July then Ten could have just used this one month to air something as prep for a proper season 6 months later.
Furthermore it makes no sense to air BB against MAFS in Q1, that would kill its chances of optimising its fanbase grab. So Q4 seems to be the only place it can logically fit in. TEN would have been better off delaying BB till Q3 2026 and probably also doing two 24 episode seasons of Survivor to compensate for 2025.
I understand Survivor AU vs The World was already being finalised and that this holdback would have caused headaches, but a one month civilian season is one of the weaker decisions to go forth with IMO.

That actually sounds like a great way to bring it back (restrict it to Ten-era Housemates; remake the BB03-BB04 opening titles in HD; really push the nostalgia factor as hard as possible)...
But it almost feels too straightforward for a TV exec's brain to latch onto. Like, I bet they're thinking of something way more unnecessarily complicated.
Yeah something akin to BBUK's Ultimate Big Brother would be such a better way to make use of the short run. Specifically TEN era only housemates. There is still a big pool of people who probably would be down to do it, and like I said there is no need at all to have Reggie cast for a third time. Even some lesser name housemates would be perfect for this. It is just so unfair for the cast to go through everything to potentially only spend a week or two in the house. And how tf are we supposed to really connect with the group and excite ourselves to crown a winner after 4 weeks? Yeah you are right. Which is also probably why CH7 kind of had their hand forced into including mostly CH9 era housemates so that younger viewers would have reason to watch.
There just doesn't seem to be a completly safe way to go about this, other than a celeb version which would just be so lacklustre after all of this build up. Why can't BB fans just have nice things?

It is July next week. Surely they would be able to come up with something for a premiere date in October for at least an 8-week run? Or am I just really naive? If they can’t hold ordinary auditions this year, then could they go through the Endemol Shine casting of people who have auditioned for their other reality shows, like Survivor? Can they set up a temporary house on a sound stage somewhere? From memory, the Channel 7 series houses were set up and taken down pretty quickly. I thought they could at least come up with a series that would run for 60 days even with the holdback? Then next year they can make it bigger and better with more time to plan.
The big question mark at the moment is we don't have any clarification on when the last remaining shows before Big Brother actually air. Masterchef is about to commence week 10 but there are no signs of the finale airing anytime soon. I would guess that at the earliest Masterchef would finish by the last week of July.
Survivor is said to be next but there is no word on when that is actually premiering, the only thing out there is that Cirie (from Survivor US) has stated it airs in August. I went to a survivor watch party hosted by Jonny Fairplay and Kirby (Survivor AU contestant) was there and somewhat hinted that it is airing in August (Jonny Fairplay said he believed it was airing in August but Kirby didn't specifically confirm or deny it).
We also have no idea if Amazing Race (the supposed last RTV show to air before Big Brother launches) is airing after Survivor or if its airing alongside it on differing days. We know Survivor AUvThe World has been said to be 10 or 11 episodes, and Amazing Race will likely be the standard 12. Both could air together from Sunday/Monday-Wednesday/Thursday or maybe they're being split over a 10 week period. Who knows?
Until Masterchef finishes there isn't much we can do other than speculate. And unfortunately Masterchef is the biggest show on Ten in terms of duration. Unless the holdback is ending on a specific date such as July 1st and we actually get confirmation we have no confirmed details other than what shows are airing in Q3.
I think they're getting ready for casting! I've been checking the (old) application link every day and for the past months there hasn't been a background image loaded. Today it's been updated with the "please try again at a later time" removed. Idk why they removed that sentence specifically but it shows there's been updates to the casting page hehe

@Zcsund1234 10 is relaunching with a fresh look on Monday. We might get a Survivor promo that night. Surely MasterChef doesn’t have that long until it ends? As you said, it might be the last week of July. Even if that is the case, Survivor and Amazing Race will have short runs, and they should both at least be finished playing one after the other by mid-October. In theory, that should give BB at least 8 weeks until the week before Christmas and I have a hunch that BB will wrap just before then. Has the 1-month speculation been because of the job advertisements for the show? Having a 1-month season doesn’t make much sense. Even with the holdback, October should be a reasonable amount of time to come up with something.

Maybe I've spoken too soon then? I'm gonna take a guess and bet that Masterchef is in for a 14 week season. I think you're right to guess Survivor and TAR should be well done by mid October, I was personally of the opinion that when Ten said BB was running through to December they just meant the first week of December rather than midway. But for all I know that could be wrong.
The one month speculation is largely due to the job advertisement from my understanding, but also due to the Masterchef FB page making a post claiming the season is only halfway done, although the more I think about it I may be overthinking that post. And to add we don't know the scheduling of Survivor and Amazing Race.
The airing in December is probably throwing a lot of people off, its a strange decision to air the BB finale outside of ratings but also it could be a one off for 2025 to gain traction for 2026. I have so many deluded theories and so many burning questions for TEN to answer, but we frustratingly have to wait for Masterchef to reach its final weeks before we get more information.
What I find annoying is that the show I am eagerly waiting for to finish is the network's biggest one, and to add insult to injury its also a very slow paced, boring and predictable season of Masterchef. I am holding onto deluded hope that all of this date speculation ends up being wrong, but that job advertisement (and somewhat the Cheap Seat's allegedly 'joke' countdown) is really throwing me.
I am watching Channel TEN almost nightly (which I haven't done since 2020) to ensure I catch any news, especially from Mel on the cheap seats, but we've been at a point for months now we're the same things are being rehashed again and again because we literally have NO OTHER INFO! That summarises my thinking anyway, I probably and way more off than I think I actualluy am, and I really hope I am wrong and we get a season of decent length.

I mean, to be fair, 30 days isn't long, but if there is live streaming so you can access it whenever you want, a month isn't a bad start.
People will be screaming for it to go longer, then Ten will be like "oh well I suppose we can shorten the 2026 season of Masterchef" (for the love of God please!)
