Big Brother back in 2025 on 10! AND LIVE!

Random, but does anyone think that Ten will do any specials like a throwback episode to when it all began? Or a "Where are they now?" type show? Or do you think they'll just have a clean slate? If they were going to do something like that, do you think they would reference any of the 9 or 7 era's? Or just reference the original 10 run?
I suspect they'll just have features on The Project and the news and completely ignore the post-Channel 10 era. The recent UK revival only ever references the housemates of the original era, overlooking C5 completely other than the odd reference to Emma and Rylan as hosts who unlike Sonia are generally looked upon favourably.

True, I wasn't aware how the UK revival handled the past series, so thanks for that. I'd say 7 would be completely wiped haha.

I just hope we start to see something soon, when does the clause end again?

Honestly if they’re going to do anything “special” let’s go back to basics and recap the story of getting the very first series off the ground or even better what went in to getting this series off the ground.

They did something similar in 2001, Big Brother Revealed, showcasing what went into the making of the house and the housemate selection process. But I agree, it would be interesting to see how the entire process has changed now that technology has advanced a hell of a lot since 2001. It was such an amazing and mammoth production to set up.

Yeah I was about to say this. Here it is, it's very good:

Yeah they use voice-to-text to transcribe conversations and I believe they use AI to note or mark footage of interest somehow. Automated or remote controlled cameras instead of camera runs for the most part. But it would be interesting if they showed the differences between then and now for sure.

As fun as it is to revisit past series I feel like the launch shows on Ten and Nine already did that every single year. I’ve lost count how many times they’ve rolled the clips of Ben, Reggie, Trevor and Jamie winning on launch.

It would be better to see a special focusing on big brother itself and its worldwide success. The Australian lore is already referenced to death, and the more the show rehashes Sara Marie and Reggie the more likely we all are to compare too much.

Love the idea of a special focused more on production of the show vs just reliving moments from the past… This really goes back to earlier comments about this revival needing to be treated more as a reintroduction of the format rather than a continuation of and 10 needing to give the show a full and proper treatment. Not only has the pomp and circumstance of the show been lost in the previous two eras but I also think starting from zero is going to help pull in a new audience. At least more so than attempting to modernize the core format.

Yeah I don't think we're talking about that but rather the production of the show itself.
yeah I just think that that’s the likely direction they’ll take if they were to do a special. Even if it’s production focused they’ll no doubt weave in previous series clips.

To be honest I think they largely just need to get on with it - leave the nostalgia to the media reports in the lead up and for the show itself concentrate on it being a show for 2025, not a hit in 2001.

There should be the odd nod of course (BBUK used the tagline "the original social experiment") but I think you just know the audience that cares knows the nostalgia anyway. I do think there can be references in the promo campaign and opening of the launch to Big Brother "coming home" to 10 which may lean into the nostalgia a bit but keep it playful rather than self congratulatory.

You also have to remember for the show to be a hit not only do they need the old school fans they need the viewers who aren't old enough to remember the original Channel 10 version.

I think the format and rules etc. will be pretty much on par with 01-03, given Peter Abbott seems to be at the helm, and I trust he'd do it right. Does the UK or other versions allow nomination talk? I've never watched a single episode of any other BB bar Australia 😅

I don’t think Peter Abbott lending his voice to the sizzle reel means realistically anything about potential involvement with the series, let alone being the EP.

I’d love if they brought him on with a consulting producer role but realistically he was already in his mid 40s when producing 2001-03 and is probably retired now.

The UK doesn't and is very petty about it which makes for a worse show.
