Big Brother back in 2025 on 10! AND LIVE!

This is why quoting your source is so important - otherwise it just looks like the mad ramblings of a President.

Guessing Gretel being on The Amazing Race is part of the Big Brother build up but could backfire if it just leads to calls for her to host it again, even though I suspect she isn't the slightest bit interested in doing so.

Is a TV Blackbox story about a revival of Millionaire on Ten but no hosting details. Seems a bit odd too as yesterday it was announced Seven had picked up the UK version.

Is pretty much my thinking. Banijay probably had to pay some penalty fee for breaking the agreement to Seven, and Seven agreed to end it there provided the rest of the clause period was observed as originally intended. The reports at the time said the clause ran until "mid 2025".

If it does air this year, its going to be a rush job. I'd rather they waited until next year and do it properly rather than race to get it on the air for the sake of having it on the air sooner.
As I’ve stated previously it does not take a year to get the show off the ground. We’ve seen franchises launch with a matter of months. TBH a “rush job” might not be such a bad thing considering how much executives like to overthink the tiniest of details. That said reports of what the “hold back” entailed didn’t actually stop Ten from moving forward it just limited them from doing it publicly until it expired.

Calls for former hosts to return are going to happen regardless. Three series in to the ITV era and I’m still seeing calls for either Emma or Davina to return.

I think we’re in good hands with Mel and having her announced as host from the jump has been pretty positive vs months of speculation.

You’ll start to hear news about big brother soon… look out for the 2nd half of Masterchef.
If you’re going to statements like this, at least provide some sort of rationale or reference for the claims you’re making… Or at very least state that it’s merely your opinion. It’s very clear you are not an insider and making claims you can’t back-up just makes you look like an asshole.

Feels like there was a lot of truth to those reports of a lockout clause before 10 can seriously get moving on this, though don't think it's too long now till it would expire. Casting details should be the next major announcement.
It has been over 6 months now since the announcement and also the holdback, the only update we have had since is that according to Dan Monaghan, "Senior Vice President Content & Programming", on the programmers wrap was that he would "have much more to say in a couple of months". We're almost into the 2nd quarter of the year so its only a matter of time until the holdback ends.

10 have kinda already set the expectation on what their revival will look like, I think the lockout clause has actually been a blessing for them. 7 kinda told us too much when they revived it, sullying the waters between fans of the format and the show itself.

I’m assuming casting this time around will most likely be virtual auditions with in-person meetings held at hotels, it would be awesome if they did the live auditions tour again at a Showgrounds in each capital city just to drum up anticipation for the format - but also to see how much interest there is in person

That would be great but I think commercial TV is too lean and mean for that kind of thing any more.

it costs too much money to book out venues, and hire security to keep all those screaming teenyboppers under control, to make it worthwhile.

That always happens with these sorts of things, even if the former host has said black and blue that he/she/they no longer want to fulfill the role.

Even at my Autistic Adults Social Group, there were years of calls by some members for the former host to return, even though she clearly quit.

Having Gretel on TAR would mean she'll be on The Project and maybe The Cheap Seats. So she'd no doubt be asked about BB, unless part of her agreement was that she doesn't want to discuss it? She could be somehow integrated into BB, be it a narrator or even behind the scenes, but who knows, could just be a marketing strategy to get the viewers nostalgic.

That was my first thought as well, Reggie being on I’m a Celeb and now Gretel on TAR both seem to me as BB hype up.

Although it could just be coincidental, I would argue that the use of BB alumni is a good sign. Channel ten are probably doing this deliberately. If the hold back was going to prevent the series from eventuating we would have heard by now.

The less we hear until it’s over the better. The holdback period is probably just running it’s course until it’s lapsed.

Agree the holdback has been a blessing - over promotion is a huge problem in Aussie TV and it often feels like one reality franchise only exists so they can use it to promote the next.

Casting is a good way to get some early buzz though by running casting ads - but then ideally it needs to go quiet again until about 3 weeks before the premiere. Feels like a less is more approach is better for this.

Ok… everyone questioning me about hearing info about bb 2nd half of Masterchef, it’s because the holdback runs out in June and there will be a casting call around then.

Why are teenagers at auditions when it’s 18+ in the first place.. do you even think before you type or are you so deep in this grandfather-esque persona that you can’t rationalise anything anymore? Don’t piss me off right now

It’s so sad but so true, although tbf the quality of housemates progressively got worse and worse each year since they started doing them (from 2005-2007?), 9 didn’t fumble too badly until 2014 at least
