Big Brother back in 2025 on 10! AND LIVE!

I wonder if the 11ish-episode season of Survivor would lead to a weekly broadcast over a multi-day. We might find it running simultaneously with TAR, leaving more room for a longer Big Brother run at the end of the year.

I haven't looked at the upfronts schedule in a while though so it may fly completely in the face of that.

We honestly dont even know how long BB will run. They may do a UK copy. I hope not but it wouldn't surprise me if they ended up doing it.

Is it possible for Big Brother to run in tandem with another format? Could we possibly be getting a 30-45 minute daily show between Monday-Wednesday to be a lead-in for other reality programming, then hour-long daily shows on Thursdays and Fridays?

If only there was some news & current affairs program hogging up the 7pm slot that rated terribly, we could possibly trim a little fat there.. 😛

That would be terrible, it needs at least 10 weeks.
I’m personally in the same boat of wanting a 10 week season but I’m also pondering if current viewers of TV can support a 10 week run without a lapse in attention?

I think 8 should be the absolute minimum but 10-12 is the sweet spot. Also hope they don't overfill it with housemates - 16 is way too many for the 6 week show the UK do now and it suffers as a result. I think they'll want to do at least one double eviction and want to do intruders and have at least 4 in the final week.

Yes. I think the problem with most long running stripped formats is the filler. Viewers want consistency and for the storytelling to follow a natural progression so keep the format simple and practice restraint when casting so we have a cast size that accommodates for the appropriate length of the series.

I think best case scenario is Survivor Aus v The World is stripped across the week along with TAR. Have Survivor Sun-Tue and TAR Wed-Thur like the Bachelor used to be. If that were the case then that would open up an extra 2 weeks for Big Brother to claim. An even better outcome would also be for Masterchef to run a 10 week season rather than a bloated 12 week duration. I wonder if since it's an All Stars season if that may lead to a shorter run as it would be hard to get alumni to agree to such a long schedule. But since it's currently in production we'll have to wait.

I would guess a final 3 is very much locked in and also is a double eviction the night before finale. That way the show could get away with a 16 person cast if they throw in a double eviction somewhere in the later weeks as well. I'm interested to see if the intruder concept will return and also if Week 1 evictions will become the norm as opposed to them starting in week 2.

If it's shorter than 10 weeks it will really compromise it in terms of the number of HMs, or by pushing a lot of extra/double evictions through and making it feel rushed. Or go for a finale with several HMs remaining a la BBUK I suppose.

I expect this will probably happen regardless.

Yeah you're right, we all agree that we don't want a season thats going to be dragged out towards the end, but we also don't want to see everything so rushed is the last quarter like BBUK is. 10 weekly evictions with 1 or 2 doubles, 2 intruders with only one staying and an eventual final 3 would be perfect for a 16 person cast. I guess all we can do is hope that theres more room in the schedule than we think.

But how exciting that we're getting closer and closer each day! The details we get about Masterchef will paint a much better picture for us to analyse. Slowly but surely we're getting there!

slow and steady wins the race.

literally could not think of anything worse than a slow and steady reality tv show

Shove it up your ass, gayspie mawma

Big Brother itself is already a slow burner in most seasons and really peaks in the middle two quarters. If it's too long then it slows down again in the end, which is what I really do not want.

What are you talking about?
If BB runs for too long then the season feels like a drag but if BB runs for too short then the season feels rushed.

There has to be a happy medium/goldilocks timeframe/sweet spot, which i would say is about ten weeks duration.
