Big Brother back in 2025 on 10! AND LIVE!

There's no point having these clauses in contracts unless you use them. Maybe 7 wants to use it to damage 10. Maybe they'll just flex a bit to get something they want from Endomol shine. Only time will tell as we know nothing beyond they sent a letter outlining their contractual rights to a hold back.

The rivalries of the past between networks have died down. It wasn't that long ago you wouldn't see Networks sharing talent. Things have cooled. It benefits all the networks, production companies and the industry to have good relationships.

It does explain the lack of speculation leading up to the announcement. 10 knew full well what they were doing was wrong so kept it under tight wraps with zero leaks. So well done to them for that, I guess.

So why did they go public now? Did they need the hype to bolster their Upfronts? I'm thinking yes.

The fact that neither 10 or ESA seemed to give a shit leads me back to my theory.

I agree with what @Kingston is saying. It’s nothing more than just a “bump in the road” I’m sure some settlement will be reached. Seven are just being petty but also just acting on what they’re entitled to.

But what a way to alienate a whole range of viewers within the fandom. I couldn’t imagine any big brother fan would look favourably on seven for this at all.

If they do bring back Uncut I hope they actually do the one thing Seven were sensible about and keep it off the linear channel to avoid inviting the criticism that Ten got for it in the first place. It worked much better as an online extra. That said the Seven version was a much more mature version of an "adults only" show, rather than never getting beyond who got what out in the shower and sex talk.

Any Uplate should ideally just be a block of streaming from the house - not sure a hosted version with call and lose games would fly nowadays.

Uplate is probably redundant in 2024 for a number of reasons.

Uncut is probably the best thing the show can do. Not only does it signal that they aren’t trying to run from their past but it also gives the show some edge. Let’s be honest the biggest criticisms of the past two revivals has been how sanitized and whitewashed they’ve been. It’s also a point where the ITV revival has struggled.

I’d also say that I don’t think 10 have much to lose by allowing this series to walk the line considering they’re already on the edge of extinction. Taking a calculated risk with BB might put them on life support for a few years at least.

I wonder if putting it on one of their secondary channels might do the same thing.

Also something to consider is the societal shift that’s happened over the last 20 years. The things that got Uplate/AO in trouble in first place simply wouldn’t happen in 2024 and/or are easily preventable through casting/eduction/duty of care.

I agree they are taking on BB live again is probably a make or break decision for them. If they can convince the viewers who have bemoaned both Nine and (especially) Seven's versions that they're going to do it right then yeah, the audience return should be good. But after Seven's dire ratings it's hard to imagine they could get above 1m viewers again. But then again, The Block still (inexplicably to me) enjoys massive ratings, so giving people what they want is probably just what BBAU needs. Hopefully all the Gen Xers like me will return.

If ITV’s reboot series could exceed expectations I can’t see why 10 can’t. Especially when they really have absolutely nothing to lose.

I’m really intrigued to see the casting. I have a feeling they’re going to go right back to the roots of casting every day Australians. Survivor’s casting has been pretty good in terms of casting the net wide(Still some Insta, fame hungry models) but overall survivor has found some really interesting characters. Expecting Big Brother to cast some absolute weirdos which is what the show needs.
