Probably just messing with you to keep you on your toes.Unless they were just testing the site for a casting call launch tomorrow? And more info will be given then? I'm so lost![]()
I doubt it would cost that much. ITV now pay around £10m for BBUK compared to the £60m a year C4 paid at it's peak (think C5 was around £30m). Unlike sports rights the fee would cover production too and with BB at it's peak the price was severely inflated due to it being an attractive property. Now producers have to beg networks to get it made.BBAU costs around $20mil for the rights alone? TEN have possibly bit off a bit more than they can chew with big brother.
It is better than nothing, but they can't promote it as "bigger and better than ever before" because it simply won't be.4-5 weeks is better than nothing I guess. Still really disappointed. I hope this is due to the holdback. If 2026 isnāt at least 8 weeks then Iāll probably just give up on Australian television all together, I canāt see survivor lasting long now either.
This makes sense. What a shame though we'll get a scaled down season though. Thanks a lot, Seven!I assume this means we'll just get a studio-based set or something very temporary.
You must be available for approx. 4-5 weeks for the shoot. At this stage, shooting will commence approx early November 2025.
Filming Dates
If you are selected to be a contestant on the show you will need to commit to 4-5 consecutive weeks of filming in the Big Brother house during the period on or around November/December 2025.
Short Series confirmed then.
You are incorrect, 7 paid $20million for the season. IE full cost of the network was a budget of $20 million. In 2001 10 paid $14 million for the rights.
7 paid between $20-30 million for them.
Wouldn't even say it's better than nothing. No BB is better than a bad BB.4-5 weeks is better than nothing I guess. Still really disappointed. I hope this is due to the holdback. Going up against MAFS could be beneficial especially if theyāre going back to the original, authentic, unfiltered, character driven format. BB is far better counter programming than Iām a Celebrity especially with the return of live feeds.Wouldn't even say it's better than nothing. No BB is better than a bad BB.
Just hold it back to 2026 - if it goes against MAFS so what, it'll still rate better than November. The news today suggests Survivor might be pushed back anyway.
Ehh, it's not automatically bad because it's short. A short, good BB is better than a long, bad BB! (And knowing how bad BBAU was for the "revolving door effect" when they started doing 100-day seasons, it might actually be a blessing...Wouldn't even say it's better than nothing. No BB is better than a bad BB.

You really canāt compare CBB to the civilian series⦠Even if a ācelebrityā is unknown theyāre still coming in to the series with an established storyline.Ehh, it's not automatically bad because it's short. I've been doing more digging, CBBUK has done some comparably long seasons with up to 18 Housemates... Admittedly, CBB does always feel rushed, but 4 weeks is at least enough time to get to know everybody.
As long as it's a one-off because of the contracts, I'm OK with it.
For the record:
Season Days Housemates CBB5 26 14 Celebrity Hijack 26 12 CBB7 27 12 CBB13 27 12 CBB14 26 14 CBB15 31 15 CBB16 29 15 CBB16 32 16 CBB18 30 15 CBB19 32 18 CBB20 25 15 CBB21 32 16 CBB22 26 13
While I think your heart is in the right place in saying a short run shouldnāt automatically be assumed to be terrible but itās definitely not a positive.

Just like the JLP decision if it is about ratings dipping theyāre really shooting themselves in the foot trying to fix the one thing about the show that isnāt broken.
Given the JLP decision Iām less inclined to believe their hands were tied. Different show but itās the same people calling the shots. Iām also inclined to believe there would be nothing stopping them from simply delaying the series until 2026 if the hold back is really the issue. Iām sorry but Iām just not willing to make lemonade out of this lemonā¦No, of course not, it obviously sucks. I'm just saying, let's not fall into the trap of thinking Big Brother somehow "can't be done" in that short of a run.
I don't know about you, but I'm not a "pop culture" person. I don't know anything about the vast majority of celebrities that end up on CBB, so all I have to go on is their entry VT, just the same as a civilian series. Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack was also on my list, and did not have Celebrity Housemates ā it was a really good season, and felt rushed, and I wished it'd been longer, but I didn't struggle to get to know the Housemates just because I hadn't heard of them before.
I think people's Disappointment Level is maybe directly tied to their "willingness to believe the show length is a deliberate choice" Level? Does that sound right?
I may well have missed some insider info, but if not ā I'm still convinced this has somehow happened because of the holdbacks and contract issues. It just makes zero sense that they'd spend this much money and make such an obviously stupid mess of the scheduling. (I know BBAU has a track record for stupid decisions, so maybe I should know better lmao.)
(I don't think you're part of the "postpone it until next year if you can't do it justice this year" crowd, but let me just say: it should be pretty obvious that's a non-starter, especially with the TV industry in its current state.)
