Big Brother Australia 2026 rumours

Pedestrian insiders told Behind Big Brother that 9 out of 10 Pedestrian employees are dumber than drunk baboons. The rest work the reception or vacuum the carpets at the end of the week.

But them bringing back Colin for something next year is indeed their most believable claim yet with how much production has been fawning over him. At the end of the day, it might only be Mike Goldman spreading it as a rumor, hoping that people react positively and 10 picks up the show.
 
Having Colin co-host a BB companion show (ala Fitzy) is so realistic right now that it’s almost scary - but it’s also a surefire way to turn off many, many viewers. The idiot is not the legend they think or tried to make him out to be.

Sadly, if they’re really angling for a Mike/Fitzy commentary duo and leaning into that childish humour, then Colin is unfortunately the right fit. If that’s the case, I won’t be tuning in.

FNL is a relic of its time - and only existed because it was cheap to produce and Ten needed to fill a quota of Australian-produced TV hours. In 2025, when you can watch that sort of shitty competition content (if it interests you) on YouTube whenever you feel the urge - no one is going to give a flying fuck about it.
 
Oh dear dog please noooooooooooooo. I hope I am right that they have neither the space nor the budget to start that crap again. And they could barely manage to produce live eviction shows, imagine FNL stretching over two hours, how painful that would be. There's not enough wodka in the world to make me sit through it.
 
Exactly. I do feel though the Friday night show did need something - as I said during the series the "dinner of the damned" might have worked better filmed for rhe Friday show.

I personally can sit through them (as I'm binging a season of BB right now). Friday Night Live takes me back to the days of good old Aussie telly, featuring games and live performances - similar in some regard to Hey Hey It's Saturday.
There's not only games but also some commentary insight from the hosts about the housemates, and audience interaction sprinkled in. Plus it's only on once a week, it's not like it's on every day of the week. 4 Daily Shows + 1 FNL + 1 Eviction + 1 Noms worked well imo.

The Gen Z'ers (many people I know) and Boomers (like Terri or Facebook parents) both look at FNL rather fondly. And it will be back eventually for the nostalgia factor.

I don’t mind them depending how quickly I’m binging. Sometimes they’re an easy skip, other times they’re a welcome change to back to back daily shows. FNL is an OG element that I don’t think would translate well to modern TV. Event TV doesn’t exist these days. It would be expensive to produce for the viewers it would get.

I’d rather them put the time and effort into producing a decent season of Big Brother but it seems like that isn’t gonna happen.

They really were for the kids. Pegface was a fun enough segment for like a one off episode....they literally did it for an entire season, it was absolutely dire just as one example of how repetitive it was. So much filler with just Mike, Bree and Fitzy talking absolute rubbish as well whilst they set up all the games.

Furthermore, Friday Night Live is a great way for Big Brother to reach the kids, and by extension their parents, and pump up Ten's Friday night ratings.

And yet, during the YouTube marathons, everyone was saying that because FNL was playing they could walk away for 90 minutes and do real life things and not missing anything important/that they cared about.

If they start pandering to the Colin's of Australia, the show is going to go off the deep end very quickly.
 
I never liked FNL, but I do recognise it was a big part of BBAU's success back in the day.

In 2026 it's unlikely to work unless it's heavily cut down to be much more rapid-fire. 90 minutes is a huge ask of people's attention spans these days. I also don't trust the current production crew to be able to do this live.

Plus, didn't Channel 7 era end up phasing out the physical challenges? Cos if people want to watch Survivor they will watch Survivor?
