Sonia Kruger is on Ben Norris’ latest podcast episode of ‘TV Reload’ talking about BB.

Ben says he wasn’t asked to be on this year, and while disappointed is still a massive super fan. He has watched the first 3 eps and love it.

He asks Sonia if it will ever be live, she said you can never say never, maybe after the uncertainty of covid is over.

She is looking forward to the live finale.

There’s a new show runner whose name is Keelie something.

He asks her whether when Sonia does the interviews is it her own or the producers in her ear. She says it’s a little bit of both, she has Keelie in her ear. She says it is fun to interrogate.

Whilst the royalty have a target on their back, Sonia says they do have an advantage of having the EQ to navigate the show.

He asks whether Sonia has any input into the format. She said she does brainstorm with them, but that’s not really her job.

Ben said he talked to Gretel about BB. Gretel was very gracious about Sonia as the host. Sonia said Gretel has been very supportive to Sonia throughout. Sonia said she isn’t in the same level of intelligence as Gretel.

She says some of the stuff with Tully and Drew makes MAFS look Disney.
So turns out the new EP Keely Soontag who is the same EP from Australian Survivor. Basically accept a lot of purple editing, missing context like how certain relationships are formed, big characters get bigger edits and a lot of OTT dramatic music and moments like it is in the last few seasons of Australian Survivor (which lets be honest this new big brother format is basically a copy of "Survivor in a warehouse" and Sonia pretty much confirmed she's just a puppet for the producers like she always is). Pretty much from Ben Norris to Rob McKnight and others in the industry say Big Brother is good (and have always repeated that line since channel 7 reboot) but won't criticise the format problems etc

Having read everyone’s posts about how they would like the game to be played, might I suggest this:

We create a new reality tv show and name it something like little sister. Put 20 or so people in a house, take away any connection to the outside world for 3 months, and they vote to evict residents until 1 is left standing and takes the prize money.

It’s clear channel 7 are never going to create the version you each want them to, so we create our own version/web series. I’m sure we could crowdsource production costs, and never mind about copyright, I’m certain it won’t be an issue. 😂

I have found that Podcasters are loathe to criticize or even speak too much of their feelings, as they have a reputation to uphold and if they are going to receive guests and special access, they need to be highly respectful of those things, so they toe the line and will focus on the positives. They hate this kind of discussion..

It's all about saving face then. It's good that at least Sonia has been pushed with questions such as asking if there will be a return to the live format, which is one of the most essential points for this production.

Ugh this is awful news. Definitely less excited for this season now.

Not so fast actually, she also has been producer on masterchef, as well as being a supervising producer on big brother 2013, as well as AP Big Brother adults only (12 episodes). She has a lot of experience and is relatively diverse. See Imdb

She may have constraints in which to work in… Lets give her a chance ay?

I'm trying to watch from the UK, have the 7plus app and ipvanish but it's saying technical error when I try to watch channel 7 live. Is there any other way was hoping to watch it as it airs

Reggie is just so damn loveable.

With the next season less than an hour away (for most of Australia) and just to keep things tidy, please move further discussions to one of the following two threads, for tonight's episode discussion see Episode 1 discussion thread.

For discussion about promos and other news there is also a thread for that, too.

Thank you. :)
