Big Brother 2025 starts November 9 (Sunday) on 10

It’s clear we won’t know for sure til the season premieres, I get that. But there has been zero indication in the last 24 hours alone that this series isn’t going to be any different to BBUK, right down to the style of social media videos and graphics. There’s no originality and they’re not building their own identity - something BBAU has always done, even when they were stealing twists from overseas.

If they underscore Daily Shows with pop music, I bet even the most basic of casual BBAU viewers will be turned off.

That’s kind of exactly the point of marketing…

And you’re sooo right, it is giving Richie Kirsch. Someone you thought was appealing and had the right intentions… then turns around and literally stabs you in the chest when you least expect it.

So you reckon a seemingly copycat ITV version is acceptable after their (very good) promotional campaign up until just a couple days ago? It was never going to be exactly the same as what it was. It was going to be modernised. But this is just becoming laughable.

While it's not exactly perfect, I don't hate the ITV version and believe it's much better than anything we got the Nine and Seven eras (and if I'm being completely honest, the later 10 series' as well).

These shows follow a best-practice blueprint to some degree, which does evolve over time - not least because they need to appeal to new audiences.

As they say, the proof of the pudding is in the eating. I'll wait for the premiere on Sunday night, and then see how they run the live streams and the live nominations and live evictions and so on. People condemning this new incarnation of Big Brother based on the promo ads - that seems prematurely dumb to me.

I don't know why, but the last few days I've kinda been feeling the hype fade away a little. At this point I think I was more hyped for the YouTube marathons before the 2001 weekend than I am right now.

100%. They’ve set themselves up for disaster at this point. The entire pre-season campaign has been completely undone in a matter of days.

It is feeling like what they've marketed until recently was something entirely different and better... and it all started around the time the amazing eye logo was switched out for something more CH9&7esque.

Oh, agreed. I'd take ITV over what 7 put out, but even then ITV is lacking on so many fronts. 7 took it to Survivor 2.0 and ITV has taken it to Love Island 2.0 bar the coupling off. I didn't even make it through the first week of ITV's latest season.

As @the Theorist said, where's the originality? Following a best-practice blueprint is one thing, but to more or less completely copy their format down to the bedroom design, DR chair, colour scheme and social media output is a little cheap and misleading. Borrow some concepts but make it your own.

I will put my hand up and say I'll be watching the launch and hoping for the best, but I'm just not interested in watching ITV Lite. So they might lose me as a viewer. Big deal. I expected modernisation but I don't even know what this is. It'll make me happy to come on here and apologise for preemptively mis-judging.

Tbh they’ve made good use of the space for the house. And I actually love the stage, the roller coaster in the background screams dreamworld.

I will reserve judgement for Sunday night, but I can understand why some are losing some hype. The level of excitement I felt on announcement day last year is bucket loads larger than it is now.

I still want to hope for the best, once we get into the swing of things I’ll be sucked in. I cannot wait to live stream BBAU for the first time in my life, I’ve taken Monday off work so I can spend the day watching lol.

I’m so excited to see Mel in action! And even if there are some things to complain about I absolutely love how every single time there’s a reference to being back on ten every promo or media person says “where it belongs”. The shade thrown at seven has been my absolute favourite thing.

Someone else at 10 said no and gave the project to a new team who weren't nearly as much as OG superfans. Henceforth the branding change and other less than amazing decisions. Let's just be grateful that Ten are giving the franchise another chance, and from watching this afternoon, the promos for it are in every ad break.
Also, while Gretel will always be the original and the best host, I think Mel will do a decent job too.
I just hope they've got right the casting process for the housemates, that there is some diversity in terms of age and background, I'd hate to see all instagram models or wannabe social influencers.

Yeesh. Didn't even consider that. Though the tone of their marketing only changed in the last couple days as the house was being revealed and with the ramp up to the launch on Sunday. I prefer to think they didn't swap their team out so late in the game.

I think we are all just a little worried because it’s finally here in less than 50 hours and we are scared we are going to be disappointed again, and it doesn’t help with some of the Channel 7 / ITV vibes. Though I think the house is just what modern Big Brother houses look like now (though the shed roof being visible and having no ceilings is terrible )

I would be very disappointed if it was just a direct copy of UK BB. I hope it has some Australian originality to it. If they are going to put pop music on it like Love Island, then that is a step too far and I am out the door.

I hope we are all worrying about nothing and this new series will exceed our expectations.

We won’t know until Sunday, but fingers crossed it will recapture the OG spirit, but I totally understand the pre-season nerves, we just need this to be good. We have practically been waiting since the 2008 series ended for a proper reboot.

What we as viewers need this time is some compelling stories, whether it's potential romance or a controversial character in the house, in other words a narrative or two that they can run for the next few weeks.
As someone who still fondly recalls the glory days of Big Brother on Ten 2 decades ago, I dearly want this 2025 version to succeed and to rate well for Ten and to create buzz all over social media and in the streaming world.

The stage does look better at night, I'll admit. I'm curious about evictions and such - it's gonna be tight on that stage with a couch.

Won't it still be daylight though with evictions done by 8pm?

Oh I love being able to see the coaster in the background, that's almost worth the trade-offs of the current park location.

We all do. Trust me. However after what we’ve seen over the last 24/48 hours has me questioning whether this is what they plan to deliver or whether they’re more interested in delivering a photocopy of a photocopy of ITV’s homework. It’s lost its originality.

100%. I think most of us can agree on that. When Dreamworld was announced I think we all expected a new structure to be erected somewhere in the park vicinity to house the show. Nail it down to it being a rushed season? I'm hopeful (and not entirely convinced) that if this new season rates well then a bit more effort will be put into the 2026 season, including a possible purpose built structure and some originality. Shutting down rides for x duration moving forward doesn't bode well for Dreamworld. I also stand by an earlier statement that the amount of money being invested into this reboot is a fraction of what was spent on it's original run.

The sun actually sets super early in Australia and pretty much year round. Between 6 - 7 is pretty typical.

My theory is that somebody or multiple people are not trusting the OG format, getting cold feet and are now chickening out... the show got cancelled for a reason, it's 2025, not 2001 anymore, everyone around the world is doing it, yada yada whatever. So the presentation got updated etc.

I've seen it multiple times with several shows.. not just with Big Brother. But we kinda also saw it with ITV's version. While it didn't launch on C4 levels and had its issues, there was more than solid ground to build on. But then half way through, they suddenly panicked for whatever reasons, meddled with the show and continued to do so to this day.
