Ohh @Kingston, you just made me realise why I couldn’t figure out what the “fan area” could be. That space between the house and the eye stage in the drone footage looked too BOH to place an audience.

There might actually be a separate enclosed studio space for interviews and such (ala, BBUK Late & Live), which would be the main stage.

Interesting thoughts. Tho I do wonder where else a bigger standing room stage would be.

Also noticed the lack of infrastructure for camera and remote control of the house. Unless the control room is on the north end of the exhibition centre.

Anyone have an idea of what time are the upfronts being held at? Hopefully not the middle of the night here in Canada.

I've asked David Knox and awaiting a reply. Meanwhile the site that shall not be named TV Blackbox posted a week ago that it's today: "The network is also gearing up for its 2026 Upfronts presentation on Wednesday".

Blackbox is the only one reporting it as today, everyone else has reported tomorrow.

Park closes at 4pm, so probably anytime after that. I'd hazard a guess for 5pm arrivals/6pm kickoff.

10 has its Upfronts tomorrow and, as we know, will be showcased at Dreamworld with the Big Brother house being centre of attention. Is it expected that Gretel will have to be there as she will be the new host of "The Traitors" next year? I can't predict how Gretel would feel having to go back there and the whole thing being set around her former show. Would she really be happy about that? Though I would love to see a picture of Mel and Gretel together. And maybe if Gretel was physically there, then that makes the chance of a cameo pretty good? Could there be something like a funny pre-recorded cold opening to start the launch show with Gretel giving advice to Mel on how to host?

Gretel might just stay in Sydney. As I recall last year at Upfronts, it was held in 2 locations with a smaller gathering of 10 personalities in another state. It would be surreal if she did appear at Dreamworld, and I am crossing my fingers, though I understand if she wouldn't be pleased with the idea and it doesn't happen.

Like, I don’t know what else people were expecting - perhaps I lowered my expectations (for a change, haha) but this is almost exactly what I imagined they’d produce. And it actually looks pretty decent. You can’t base a full opinion from a distant drone shot in the middle of the day, especially when it’s clear that area is made for a night set-up with full lighting, etc.

I mean, the whole set is literally in the middle of Dreamworld. Theoretically it has to be temporary enough and able to be pulled down and re-built (if necessary) between seasons.

Plus, I’m now doubting that’s the main stage. All signs are pointing to it being the Fan Pit - an entry/exit point for the HMs (i.e. the house entrance archways are even constructed within the eye), with the main event and eviction interviews staged elsewhere. It’s no different to BBUK. Even our main stage for 2025 (wherever it is) was always going to be smaller than the auditorium from 2001 regardless.

🤷‍♂️
You're not wrong. I think the overall announcement and successful build up to the new season has set expectations high, at least among many in this group and some facebook comments I've read. Many are still determined to have FNL. The set does look extremely temporary and a little flimsy compared to the OG run, which I think is part and parcel of how the show is made these days. The garden is separated by a thin piece of plywood...

I'm still optimistic for the show if they stick to the promised OG route, meaning how it's made, edited, type of hm's, etc. My hope is that if it's successful (and I'm banking on it from the enthusiasm I've read) we might get a house built in a more semi-permanent state. I'm not sure how often the exhibition centre was ever used. or if they plan on breaking it down after the show wraps. They have unused space that could've been allocated to a larger garden. Really, the exhibition centre would've made a much better live show set and the house could've been constructed in the adjacent dirt lot and had more space for growth and isolation. How difficult is it to build an empty shed? I'm also hesitant due to the need to close adjacent rides to make the show. Is this feasible if the show gets a longer run next year?

My other thought is that I doubt we're going to get another 8+ season run, so perhaps the exhibition centre is the home for the foreseeable future. I'm glad it's back at Dreamworld, but the general space they've opted for is just a bit restrictive and small. I'm praying we've seen the end of what they've borrowed from ITV.

Oh absolutely, @dasnico. Most will know I was self-acclaimed one of the most critical and negative towards BBAU for the longest time here, so even I’m unsure where this cautious optimism is coming from. 😅 But as you noted, I do think we need to adapt our expectations to today’s standard, rather than the way BB was produced (and constructed) worldwide in the noughties.

What remains to be seen is how this series is produced and edited, and that is hands down the most important factor in whether this revival is a success or not. IMO.
