They should take some inspiration from Twitch. Let people clip scenes directly from the feeds. Host these clips on your website, let people link to these clips, let them embed them on their websites. You can monetise all of that. Use the monetisation features on YouTube when people share clips of your show. There are so many possibilities to make extra money from viewers doing the work for you.
Partner with TikTok and Instagram Reels. It’s being done with the music industry so I can’t see why the something similar can be done here. For a franchise that so desperately wants to find younger viewers and bring back those who may have left it behind I really can’t think of a better strategy to do it. Even if either platform is only offering peanuts as compensation. The show was built around the water cooler and in 2025 social media is our modern water cooler.

I’ll take it over that 7 era imitation creep of a BB “I have been watching you” like the guy gets off on watching people take a fat shit 😳
One completely inconsequential thing that grated on me was how the 10 era ended with Leon-BB saying, "This house has never belonged to Big Brother, or even the Housemates. It is your House."

And then the first thing 7-era BB does is call it "my house" and get into an argument with Angela about how it's his house, not hers. 😅 (And I'm still pissed at ITV for trying to copy that voice and intro. 😒)

--

Seeing as Leon had literally the last word of the 10 era ("Thatisall... for now..."), I wonder if they'll give him the first word this time.

[the lights slowly flicker to life in the Diary Room]
"Theeeuuuss... isBigBrother. Uhstralia. I told you I'd get back to you..." [cue titles]

This isn’t necessarily making a lot of sense to me. Wasn’t one of Sara-Marie’s most iconic moments (cooking fish sticks) when there were only 3 people left in the house?

They’re definitely undercutting the fact that some of the most entertaining and real moments from this show come from monotony and boredom. If they’ve done their job and the cast is as strong as they say there shouldn’t be a worry about how many HM’s are left in the end or whether a handful of them will be entertaining.

Also don’t feed me the “modern audience tastes”/“short attention span” fallacy BS. The audience will make an investment if the investment is worth making.

Absolutely - I've never bought the argument more in the final week makes for better viewing. The show needs a beginning, middle and an end and the house winding down is a huge part of the experience for both viewers and housemates. We're probably going to be looking at 8 housemates left with a week to go - and then I'd guess another double eviction at some point in the final week with it then probably being 6 to 4 on the Sunday and 4 in the final on the Monday (although if it runs later into the week we may get 8-6 on the Sunday, 6-4 on the Monday then the final on the Tuesday or Wednesday

Like where you’re going with this but they should almost replay that ending montage with Leon’s final words and then pick up with something like “welcome to your new house” with the lights flicking on in the new Diary Room.

The 2018 series of BBUK is the perfect example of why too many in the final weeks doesn’t work. The latter of the series felt extremely rushed and the low ratings aside it didn’t make much sense. IMO the cast could have easily gone another week or two had they been allowed to.

I also feel the 2023 series had really only just started developing before the rapid fire evictions started. Which is precisely why I lost interest at the half way point… The stakes just weren’t there yet and if with 11 more days 2018 didn’t feel like it came to a full conclusion there was no way this series was going to.

We’ll have to see here what they do. In the age of streaming is summer/Christmas really that big of a deal anymore? Would it be a disaster if they ran until the 21st? In my mind if they’ve done their job properly building BB back up as an event ending so close to the holidays could actually be a benefit. But maybe I’m overselling this series 💁🏼‍♂️

As if I couldn’t love her even more. I can’t to see how she executes this strategy. She’s obviously going to have a much younger vibe I don’t necessarily see the way she envisions herself in the role as being too far off the energy Gretel had in those early series. Gretel was very much “large and in charge” while Mel I think is going to be “tiny but mighty”. No carbon copy but definitely “complimentary”?

The way she says she watched "a lot of" Sonia's seasons, and then describes herself as a superfan in the same breath. She's all of us. 😂

I’m working on a really nice Christmas present for Queensland, but I can’t confirm it yet.
What on earth is this part about, though? 🤔

I see what you did there 🤣 But I mean that’s kind of how I’ve always seen the role of a BB presenter. In a way they’re an extension of us. Her knowing the good, bad, and the ugly (cough, cough 😷) is exactly what I’d expect.

Not exactly sure what she’s getting about Queensland but I think it’s about timezones? If the show is airing live from Queensland they won’t actually be able to watch it live because they’ll be an hour behind due to daylight savings. Could be wrong 😬

Spot on regarding the time zones. As someone based in QLD I completely forgot about this… really disappointed I won’t be tuning into the “live” evictions in real time…

Duration/weeks not confirmed!
Housemates in lockdown 5 days before premiere films.
Might see showers in the live feed
Oh my goodness, reading that article nearly made me cry. That is one incredibly promising interview. My genuine excitement just peaked. They touched on everything we’ve questioned here - from the cast to the house, the Dreamworld noise spill, to why they pre-record Launch, the intent of live streams, lockdown, previous iterations of the show, FNL, and even hinted that the series might be longer than we think.

From that article alone, the new EP sounds wonderful and fresh. I love her transparency.

Oh boy, I’m getting high hopes… this is not a good sign. lol

I think we're trying to read between the lines a bit. Until we see what happens the final week we can't really say.

Though, they'd be taking another page out of ITV's book if they have too many people in on the last week.

Totally. I’m completely expecting this to be the case for the final weeks, unfortunately.

Having at least 3 HMs in the finale, and therefore sometimes 5 in the last few days, is even a precedent Nine started back in 2012.

What about the Live Stream?
Sarah Thornton: “The livestream will commence following the linear premiere….. It is on a delay for moderation, we’ve got to watch it for defamation and classification. The live stream is an offering for super fans, but also for people who like to watch things that aren’t over-produced. To get to know the cast in a more intimate way and watch some really riveting content overnight.

“I would be lying if I didn’t say I spent a lot of time in planning for the live stream. We’re really being careful about what the offering is. We want it to add value for fans, but at the same time, we can’t offend fans. We need to protect the housemates as well. Obviously, as I said, there’s, huge defamation implications. So it’s a very refined process, and I’m confident it will be positive.”

Sooo it’s going to be moderated and on delay…. I’m not surprised but kind of worried they’re going to cut out more mature conversations/content. Again seeing nudity or not doesn’t really fuss me, they can blur it if they want. It’s cutting out of whole sections of peoples personalities that I don’t like. Hopefully that’s not the case and it’s only delayed to prevent things like Belindagate and turkey slap going live? Guess we just have to wait to find out..

That is normal for any livestream, I wouldn't worry about it.

Until we see with our own eyes what exactly that means we won’t know.

Based on her straightforward and very candid answer I’m assuming despite the delay and moderation they still want to deliver live feeds people will actually watch. She’s simply not trying to sugarcoat things.

Also unlike BBUK’s limited window the feeds are running 24/7 so statistically the impact of any censorship is significantly less.

The point of the feeds isn’t that you’ll be glued to them 24/7 although I’m sure there will be people who are but that there’s always someone watching.

I’m not a huge feed watcher if at all but I love the feed recaps and in the days before instant high quality streaming (ie. YouTube) reading pages of fan dairy/LFU’s.

I’d also say that BBUS has been very heavy handed with their feeds in recent years there’s still quite a bit content that comes out of them.

That is normal for any livestream, I wouldn't worry about it.
I figured that’s probably standard that it’s shown at a delay just wondered about the extent of what they won’t show especially when they’re advertising it as “unfiltered”. I have no experience watching livestreams of BB other than vague memories of poor quality on my slow internet as a teen in a regional town in the 00’s haha. So I’m really excited about this aspect of the new season.

There’s always been censorship as far as I know. As for the term “unfiltered” I’m reading it in a broad sense. Think of it more as “unapologetic”, “honest”, or “raw” while obviously being something they both legally and morally have to handle with a degree of care. It’s kind of more of a philosophy than a direct literal statement.

Depends if it's "this is defamatory and we're not allowed to air it" censorship, or "we want to save this juicy conversation for the daily show" censorship... the BB06 "Premium" feeds were 24/7, but I feel like I remember them being awful, with some sort of "top 10 moments" loop running for hours at a time. 😬

Luckily I don't get that vibe from Sarah Thornton, so hopefully it'll be fine this year:
Will journalists be able to file stories from Live Streaming before they have broadcast, and if so, is that a good or a bad thing?
Sarah Thornton: “I think that’s true. Do you think it’s a problem, though?……I sort of wonder if, in the era of streaming and the world being so flat internationally and social media, whether it matters so much, I don’t know. I feel like maybe it doesn’t. I know it doesn’t matter to me as much. I often like to bank my streaming shows. I wait till they’re all there, and I often get spoilers, but I still want to watch it.”
And I was pleased to hear there might be dick-slips

Yes! And I never miss an opportunity to rub the ol' trusty E4 "gaps in sound" PSA in everyone's faces, so here:

I assume it all applies to this year's BBAU live stream, apart from the watershed part.

BB03 (the Belinda incident) is a perfect example of why moderation on the live feeds is important. That was messy, and it would have be abused to no end with today's technology.

I always found the house boring once it got down to 6 or less. You might get the occasional TV-worthy moment, but it was otherwise a lot dead air. That's a real risk for them now with how audience engagement works. Give me a final 6 any day.
