Big Brother 2006 on official YouTube Channel (Live-streamed 26-28 Sep & 3-5 Oct)

I fell asleep early last night, what info is missing? The voting graphs? If I recall correctly we didn't see the official voting graph in full with complete %s until the week 7 eviction. The first eviction showed a very old school computer generated looking graph and then the next few showed the evict and save bars with only the evictee's % being revealed.
So it seems the feed that these digital masters came from are missing any overlay graphics that were created on the fly during all live episodes (voting percentages, nominations tally charts, nomination timer, etc).

Not a biiiig deal at the end of the day - as a fan, it’s cool to see the “behind the scenes” auditorium footage (although not sure Gretel would say the same, lol).

But from an archival perspective it is a shame.

Any onscreen graphics that were added in live, ie nomination tally boards, eviction tally boards, the "LIVE HOUSE" bug etc.

We're seeing extra house/Gretel footage when the graphics were fullscreen.

Oh wow that’s actually interesting to see.

This "cover holes in the tank with your hands to stop water flowing out" is an interesting idea.

Would be a neat idea for Big Brother USA as a take on the pressure cooker competition. Since its essentially the same thing as pushing a button constantly.

Okay, it’s crazy how nostalgic for BBBA rewatching this season is making me.

I was an on-and-off poster here in 2004-2006 but forgot my original password, created this account in late 2006 (the Theorist was reborn!) then lived and breathed these forums in every season since. I’m remembering so much from this site at the time. 🥹 It’s wild that we’re all watching and discussing it again in realtime.

Did the last segment of FNL just get completely skipped?
Tape team are apparently looking into it, according to BB.

We finally get our first marathon since the 2002 season with no damaged tapes, but so far it’s been plagued with a bunch of other issues instead. Typical, haha!

Interesting details here:

They are being digitised 4 at a time and fed into a stream for review and QC to log any issues
So if there is an audio issue that does not fix itself they just skip the rest of that tape
We would have to recover the audio from other sources as this is our only archive
The tapes get cleaned and tried again before we look to replace anything

I wonder if they will splice in the missing live graphics from the TV rips, or just leave them as is?

More info about their digitising process:

BB: “All episodes are one betacam tapes and some tapes have multiple episodes. They are being digitised 4 at a time and fed into a stream for review and QC to log any issues. So if there is an audio issue that does not fix itself they just skip the rest of that tape. We would have to recover the audio from other sources (to fix it) as this is our only archive. They allegedly already did that with the first episode of 2003’s The Insider, so are not opposed to doing this for other episodes. I imagine dubbing in certain sections of Mike’s narration in that 2002 episode which was missing it, and things like the missing graphic overlays in 2006, would be a bit too fiddly. Not impossible but they’d probably weigh up whether it’s worth their time.

And regarding the 2003 finale: “We have a lead for someone else who digitised the master before it was damaged for a DVD but have not received the digital file yet to confirm.

David has been in the chat for the last half an hour. Giving some great insight into how he felt in the house, and his time since.

I’m kinda surprised that almost every HM who’s popped up over the last few weeks has never watched their seasons before. Surely you’d be curious, but perhaps that’s just me. lol

Just stumbled across this Tweet. How absurd and completely unfounded. Simply untrue. Unless I’ve missed something, they have absolutely never alluded to such a thing. Ever.

The only thing I've seen is the exact opposite - that they don't have the tapes and are likely at "that network".
Exactly. They’ve literally never said anything of the sort, both in the chat and social media comments.

Looking at that account, they know nothing. It’s so wrong for people like that to have fan accounts, amass followers and claiming to know insider info or report inaccurate information.

Its also extremely dumb to think they'd be streaming old seasons while the new season is (supposedly) starting up.

And that they'd stream episodes that are filled with references to a competing network than what the new season is airing on. 🤦
