Big Brother 2005 on official YouTube channel (Live streamed Sept 12-14 + Sept 19-21)

I honestly feel bad for the social media person who has to sit through it all
Yeah, someone new came in and started telling Lachlan to shut up - and the social team stepped in and basically said to either block or ignore, because many users may have disabilities or neurodivergences. Reading some of the comments, especially late at night / early in the morning, the team have had to deal with a lot over the last few weeks…

I think this marathon is proof that 100 day seasons weren’t necessary even back in the show’s heyday. The last 2 weeks have consisted of so much filler.
The extension was mostly due to sponsorship revenue in the show, not for the content. 10's mandate to Southern Star Endemol was that they needed to increase revenue on the show. Naturally Noble's response was to extend the show and pad and fill with stunts.

Probably in their best interest to stream the rest without having the live chat enabled, or at least disable the ranking system. Would make things much easier to moderate and we wouldn't be getting self-appointed MOC's.

I didn't have any issue with most of the chat conversation I was reading, but Lachlan (bless him) is just irritating and a block was necessary. I don't need commentary on the colour bar beeps and what post production company's countdown sequence was being used.

The social media team probably aren't getting paid enough to deal with randos on the internet.

What I do love about the live chat is that it’s been a way to directly speak to production, give feedback and also get some insight (they’ve been very generous with information, imo). It’s also been a great way to slip in suggestions for the new season because they’re definitely taking notes.

I hope the executive producers are taking feedback from the social team seriously. It’s one thing to pass feedback along, it’s another to see it put into action..

Ok sounds like I missed more chat drama, how utterly bizarre. Unfortunately I can’t watch the finale live, I do want to know though if Lachlan is still commentating.

I’m sure there’ll be some input. I hope.

I’ve casually mentioned a few things we’ve discussed or suggested on here. Just in case. 😆

I don't think they were around when I suggested using Nobody Does It Better for a highlights reel package/promo. But I hope they noted that.

I feel they were trying to shock them as much as possible with the 10 News recap during the finale, there’s almost no positive news at all

I seem to recall them mentioning they're taking feedback. Their interactions with viewers has diminished over the last few weekends. Season 1 they were polling who would be evicted and interacting a lot more with viewers. This season in particular it seems they've been mostly quiet. I noticed their IG hasn't had any polls as of late. Would LOVE an update on the house.

Excited to catch up on the final live stream when I have time.

The news recaps is hands down one of the best ideas introduced by Aussie BB. Glad it became a mainstay from 2005 through 2014. Really hope they continue the tradition - it’s a beautiful little time capsule, even to rewatch decades later.

Actually, I’ll go as far as saying the production of the BBAU Finales was easily the best in the world. As far as I’m aware no other country has done the finales like we have been accustomed to. Some might consider them over bloated and a lot of the recaps and interviews unnecessary, but for a show like Big Brother (particularly after the investment that gripped Australia during these early years) was a wonderful little conclusion and reunion of the whole “journey” and best moments from that year.

I don’t think a disability is an excuse for poor behaviour AFTER it’s been clearly communicated that the behaviour is unwanted, annoying, problematic, etc. Especially in an online setting.

Completely forgot that some people ran on stage right before the winner announcement.
I’d forgotten about that one too. It happened so many times over the years - 2001 and 2006 also come to mind (I think Lisa and David’s evictions respectively, if my memory serves me well).

I swear BBAU is like the sole reason they stopped doing live television in Australia, lol.

Yep it was David's in 06. He was in complete shock
