Big Brother 2005 on official YouTube channel (Live streamed Sept 12-14 + Sept 19-21)

Not sure I understand what all the whinging about Lachlan is about. Seeing people come to the conclusion that he was exp farming and not actually maybe just a little bit socially or mentally disabled is quite amusing in itself. It takes a whole of 5 seconds to block somebody for the crime of shitting up your chat - even if they have multiple accounts.

Terri was worse. But the Logans deal was poorly planned from the start. If/when they got busted in the first two weeks, they should have had them compete against each other in a challenge for one of them to stay and the other to be evicted (obv they couldn't let the HMs or viewers decide because they wouldn't know which was which and viewers wouldn't be able to distinguish them either). Having them remain together for so long gave them too much of an advantage. If anything, forcing one out when they finally decided to do it was actually better than their original plan, but it was way too late.

Terri’s favouritism is infuriating but something about the Logans really annoys me. Possibly just the culmination of the gross boys club this season. It was just so poorly executed with constant changing of rules and no steps taken to mitigate the huge advantage they constantly had, even if they tried to somehow spin it is a disadvantage.

Yes not sure with Lachlan, maybe best to assume he is on the spectrum or has a delay, but what is he like in the new chat without any rankings? I currently lack the energy to venture into the chat but maybe it’s not so bad now.

The thought had occurred but I blocked him. Glad to hear they have turned off the rankings though.

It did make the boofy boys' club worse... but that was an issue with this season's entire casting. It really appeared as though the casting process shown in the S1 pre launch Big Brother Revealed special had been thrown out the window.

I’ve blocked a few too many people bc now the chat is dead for me lmao.

That AFI character seems to like having a go at everyone

To be fair, it doesn’t make him any less annoying.

Yes so much is wrong with this casting, that S1 special was so insightful, I would love to see a comparison of this season’s process. Hard to cast singles for romance without getting absolute gronks but they had to know what they were doing.

The chat is unhinged! But I feel like it seemed ok in the first season but maybe I was just so excited by the entire experience I didn’t notice. It scares me slightly now and so much random pointless chit chat too that surely no one cares about.

P.S. Was it still just Vote to Evict in BB05 or had the Save/Evict been bought in by now?
2006 was the first year of the Hybrid Save/Evict vote system that carried over to 2007. 2008 had its flipped Viewers nominate/Housemates evict process for like the first 5 weeks then went back to regular nominations and vote to evict. 2012 went vote to save only following on from BBUK's lead on Channel 5 presumably.

I will be honest, I never really understood the evict/save hybrid. Please no one try to explain it either, my brain just… cannot.
Basically they cancel each other out and the net result is what counts. Like it's a scale and what side they end up on determines how far ahead/behind of each other they are. I'm pretty sure Gretel has a go at visually explaining in next Season lol.

Hmm yes I’m too dumb for this.

From what I read, for this season the only remaining damaged tape is the FNL finale. But not sure about other seasons.
Oh no, that’s a huge shame. It’s a big one.

I do recall them saying there was three more damaged episodes for this season last night - we’ve had the others so was expecting one more to pop up. Bit annoying it’s that one.

I suspect there’ll be a few more before the end of the run. I’d love to know exactly what kind of damage we’re talking about, and how much it affects each overall tape/episode.

It’s wild that, although probably best case scenario, 2001-2003 escaped completely unscathed (excluding the latter’s finale) considering they’re the oldest, but the rest have so many problems.

Yeah it's a bummer. I'd have been happy with them streaming the damaged master and just replacing the damaged bits with Kevin's uploads.

I pray they've fixed the 03 finale. In saying that, in the Reggie Rules special, there was the winners announcement in the master quality, so at least we have that.

I think they made it unnecessary complicated by the way they've presented the results. They had two results graphic, kinda like this:

SaveEvict
6%21%
30%36%
26%16%
38%27%

And then the final results, which were like:
SaveEvict
10%
17%
31%
42%

And it used to throw me off as well on how somebody that had 36% evict votes and 30% save votes could end up with 17% of save votes.

But it's because the save votes in the first graphics are based on the total number of save votes and same for evict votes (e.g. Person 2 got 30% of all save votes, not 30% of their total votes being save votes). And then the second graphic is calculating the percentages of the votes that didn't cancel each other out.

@jessy_girl it might become clearer if we take an example with the actual number of votes, not percentages.
SaveEvict
1121
5437
4716
7028

So there are a total of 182 votes-to-save and 102 votes-to-evict.

Housemate 1 got 11 votes-to-save, which means they got (roughly) 6% of all votes-to-save. They also got 21 votes-to-evict, or 21% of the total votes.
Housemate 2 got 54 votes-to-save or 30% of all votes-to-save.. and so on..

Now we calculate the difference between all the votes and get these final results (with a + meaning it's more votes-to-save and a - meaning it's more votes-to-evict)

11 - 21 = -10
54 - 37 = +17
47 - 16 = +31
70 - 28 = +42

After calculating the differences and cancelling out votes, 100 votes remain.

Housemate 1 got 10 votes-to-evict or -10% of the overall remaining votes.
Housemate 2 got 17 votes-to-save or 17% of the overall remaining votes.
And so on...

Since housemate 1 has the smallest number, they are evicted. In the case of a double, housemate 2 is also evicted, because it's the next smallest number of votes.
