Big Brother 2003 on official YouTube channel (Live streamed Aug 15-17 + 22-24)

Was just looking, if they continue with the split season weekend livestreams, it'll get us to Nov 2nd. Assuming they livestream 05-08, (maybe they will, or maybe they'll just upload the eps as I think those have already been digitised, but not sure)

But Nov 2nd could mean that the weekend after is launch?

I mean, speaking of "rigged", as well. 😄 When the finale vote wasn't going their way so they started showing the voting with the HMs' pictures and saying "IS THIS HOW YOU WANT IT TO GO?"
Then the voting infrastructure melting down halfway through the 2007 grand final broadcast, production had what was coming.

Gogglebox is slated to finish up on Oct. 30 allowing for BB to take its timeslot the following week, November 2 has gotta be the date we’re looking at

That was the night that finally destroyed Gretel, though... 😔

I'd be tempted to watch it back, and enjoy them desperately cutting to The Potbelleez pretending to DJ every few minutes, to fill time. And wheeling all the Housemates on and off the stage in different combinations. 😅

But Gretel's torn dress, and the rubber chicken, and her obvious voice-cracking at the end, and the rumours that she was seen crying in her car afterwards, would just make me sad. Poor woman went through a lot on that show. 😅

I find the 2007 finale pure heartbreaking to watch unfold again. It’s one of the only episodes from the entire series that I desperately wish we could travel back in time to and stop them from showing the graph with images at the start of the programme.

It’s even harder to watch because it was so evident the producers had made the effort to go back to the shows “roots” for the production of it (we even have the leaked satellite rehearsal footage in existence to back this up). It was the first time since 2003 they had planned to bring back the “winners walk” from the house, as well as a whole bunch of other elements to finally run a much smoother finale than the previous few years. And then… ironically… it backfired, and that phone line meltdown completely fucked everything.

It’s a very tough watch now - and also knowing it’s (a very stressed) Gretel’s final ever moments on the show makes it so much worse.

My heart genuinely breaks for Gretel, her talent has been so overlooked by the industry for so long and she really should have won several Logies for her work on Big Brother. 10 should have taken better care of her as flagship talent on the network.

Yes 100%. The Logies and aren’t the be all end all and but was she ever nominated for BB? Sonia is good at reading autocue and it sounding genuine and that has allowed her to have a good hosting career but Gretel brings so much humour and intelligence and warm and so few could carry a show as well as she did. She deserves so much more recognition and praise.

YES, THIS!!!

My bf and I are rewatching 2013 at the moment, and he saw bits of the BB03 marathon when I had it on. He commented that Gretel seemed to make more mistakes than Sonia... this was during a live Noms episode.

I pointed out that's because they were pretty much able to drop Gretel in the studio with a clipboard and a pen, and let her run the show herself. You get the impression the only real input on production's part was to give her timings, so she could switch back to the autocue and hit the ad breaks.

Whereas Sonia just... reads the autocue and tries her best to stay lucid. 😆 There is quite literally less for her to fuck up. Plus she read out [TO THE AUDIENCE] that one time, so even her autocue reading wasn't amazing.

I always quite liked her... she kinda strikes me as a "mad/drunk aunt at a wedding" type. But never a patch on Gretel.

Can you imagine Sonia dealing with Merlin's eviction? The BB04 power-cut? 💀

Oh, I don’t remember the rumours of Gretel being seen crying. That would be sad if true. I remember the day after, there was a leak here on BehindBB from the after party with audio of Bodie (he was the one who flung the rubber chicken) apologising to Gretel, and she responded with something along the lines “Lucky you are cute”. Does anyone else remember that?

They also won’t turn away a lawsuit, if you use any trademark device commercially without permission it’s against the law.
You’re continuing to show that you have no idea what you’re talking about… Advertising isn’t use of a trademark. Use of a TRADEmark you’re conducting business using said trademark. For example you can’t just setup a stand slap the Golden Arches on it and call my business McDonald’s.

Yeah they weren't allowed to take books later, not sure if it was because someone reading a book doesn't make for good TV or maybe also because they could potentially use them to communicate secretly by pointing at words or letters. Maybe both reasons.
This and there was a push to make BB tougher.

I’m a bit lost here, I was just trying to clarify how the use of a trademark in a media context can carry legal liabilities. If you don’t agree that’s totally fine, there’s no need to insult my intelligence in the process to counter-argue your point.

I do have an idea of what I’m talking about, and I even summed it up with an easily searchable term “product displacement”. Here’s a Wikipedia page on the phenomenon, it’s a good read - I can tell you’re clearly very passionate about it.

That is completely and utterly untrue.
she’s not that bad! I’m not meaning to defend her so fiercely here either, I remember a lady on The Biggest Loser, not Ajay but her replacement, and she just sounded like she was reading out loud with no inflection let alone personality. And some dating show from the 2000s had a model doing lots of BFF style chat hosting but it was very obviously a poorly delivered script. Sonia has made plenty of mistakes and brought very little to the BB role and didn’t do anything to make it her own and obviously paled in comparison to Gretel but my “praise” to her is that she is able to read autocue and it can pass as her just talking. Fine for some shows but BB is all about human connection so it definitely needs more.
