Rewatch Big Brother 2003 YouTube stream (Aug 15-17 + 22-24)

season 3 is probably the most enjoyable but I am definitely feeling sone Big Brother fatigue here so I get it. The first marathon was so magical and obviously was a new concept, I really couldn’t look away, season 2 and I can take or leave for the most part and popped in and out. Season 3 is top tier BUT I find myself asking “can I do this?” So far the answer is yes I can, but I will find my limit.

It seems 2002 isn't as fondly remembered as 2001 or 2003. The live chat of the 2002 marathon had many, many people at the very start commenting about how forgetful the entire season was.
Yeah, 2002 was a bit of a dud but 2003 was huge, and despite the bloat was generally viewed as the best season at the time for the way they manipulated Ben drip feeding HMs and ofc ultimately merging the houses. Jo's love square, Ben Vs Chrissie, Reggie... it had a lot going for it.

Sometimes it's best to leave the audience wanting more rather than to give them more.

Perhaps if only doing BB01-03 spacing them out and doing one a month would have been better than weekly.

From what people were saying the season three livestream had more people viewing it than the first two, at least at the start.
The BB02 stream was frequently in the mid 100s... I didn't see BB03 drop below 400, even in the middle of the night Aussie time.

I did see in the chat during the BB03 stream, BB said they were looking into licensing issues around specifically the FNL episodes... so it sounded like the plan was to stream what they can, including the later seasons. 🤔

I'll definitely be disappointed if we don't get BB04, like others have said it feels like the last series before the show changed tack. I'd totally understand not wanting to revisit BB05-07, as much fun as they were. 😬

But then, it was the one series I was actually planning on rewatching in full, so if we're not getting individual episodes, and I doubt I have the capability to capture the entire thing – ehh. 🤷‍♂️

Season 3 stream was quite high averaging around 600-700 people watching thought the day and not dropping below 400 overnight. Was definitely more fondly remembered and enjoyed.

Yeah, 2001 was great cos it was new. I feel from 2003 onwards thats when it really hit its peak though, especially when they did the Logan brothers. That was the year I went and saw the house in person.

Also rewatching these seasons, they brought in books with them and one of their headboards had a sign. Was a rule brought in later no writing on surfaces and from what I remember no reading material (I might be wrong with the reading material)

Yeah they weren't allowed to take books later, not sure if it was because someone reading a book doesn't make for good TV or maybe also because they could potentially use them to communicate secretly by pointing at words or letters. Maybe both reasons.

Also, sidenote watching 2003 series currently. God Belinda is annoying, the first housemate that got evicted I quite liked her. Belinda had some wierd sexual crush on Carlos, and shes currently crying cos he didn't say goodbye to her when he got evicted.

I think this would have been better. But, in saying that, I would probably be saying they should have done it every weekend. I am enjoying them nonetheless and such a great move from BB, but yes… I need a break.

Yes definitely thar and also I think it alleviated boredom too much and prevented possible connection and conversation.

Ugh the Logan twins was the worst! Those later seasons were maybe more exciting and compelling to watch but it deviated a lot from where it was and became a bit too contrived IMO. But I actually loved the 2006 season which was super manipulated. 2003 hit the sweet spot I think and had a pretty good cast overall.

The worst part about it was they did indeed get busted but both were allowed to stay when IIRC they'd initially stated that one would be ejected if that happened? Or is my memory failing? @BigKevin's playlist seems to start at Day 3 so I can't rewatch the launch.

I admit I am slightly hazy on the details but It’s been 20 years but I’m still low key max about it. Somehow they were able to both compete and the twins kept saying it was a disadvantage because one could have a hater and it lessens the votes when clearly it’s an advantage because there are two of them and more friends to vote for them.

Dave left but Greg got to stay but still represent both and Dave was able to be out and even vote for himself.

Honestly it should have never been allowed.

I remember it all unfolding on here... One of the Logans broke a two-way mirror in a ball-game, injured his arm and needed... if not stitches, then a large, obvious bandage.

And yet BB continued switching them, and didn't get the placement of the bandage right, so all the Housemates noticed.

Then "Logan" went into the Diary Room for literally hours, presumably while they figured out what the fuck to do. Not exactly the quick thinking needed to keep up the illusion. 😬

And then they both eventually came out with laminated "Logan Greg" and "Logan David" signs that looked really shitty and thrown-together. Because they were. 😅

Honestly, people look back on BB05-07 fondly now, but I remember how done with the stupid production decisions everyone was even then haha.

Between that and racist bogan Terri being put back into the BB8 house (and going on to win) says all you need to know about producer manipulation, and Australia for that matter. Embarrassing.
I mean, speaking of "rigged", as well. 😄 When the finale vote wasn't going their way so they started showing the voting with the HMs' pictures and saying "IS THIS HOW YOU WANT IT TO GO?"

With the clear implication of, "Well we don't, so go away and vote properly."
