Big Brother 2003 on official YouTube channel (Live streamed Aug 15-17 + 22-24)

Looking at the house plan from a previous thread. I don't remember much of BB3. Can someone explain the two layouts? I also think it's flipped -- the "main" structure from the previous two seasons is at the top?

Yes, the main structure from the previous series is at the top. The green and the purple areas are inside the main building. Check out the images that @Being Big Brother has posted earlier, they align with your floor plans

Left image is when they had the two houses, round house left and square house right, just like on the pictures from the launch episode. Both houses were lacking some features like an indoor bathroom and an indoor kitchen.

When they merged both houses, they gave the housemates some extra space. The pool on the right side was initially covered by the garden walls.. and with that gone, they also got access to a proper indoor kitchen, which was in a new structure opposite the main house. Those areas are the ones covered corrugated sheet metal on the linked pictured.

They also connected the two living rooms and the two bedrooms, which also gave them access to an indoor shower.

I'm not sure if they really had the rails going like it shows in the left picture.. the "North Run" is pretty pointless and it would mean that they've added the glass front the night they took down the walls.

There has never been a better house design anywhere in the world - that two into one house was so clever and surprisingly has never been repeated. Those who've done some kind of split house twist since either have a second house they just shut down or crudely divide their regular house, mostly sticking to the rich/poor split which originated in the Dutch version a couple of years before this. BB Aus took that twist and gave it a twist of their own.

In comparison to the BB1/2 house obviously there is the new kitchen area at the back of the garden but also looks like those angled portions of the main house were added, as BB1/2 just had their doors flush with the main building IIRC. I think these angled additions then remained right through to the end of the Nine era.

Last year's Secret Story in France came close to the two houses twist from Australia, but fell kinda flat compared to the Australian version. All of them lived in the "fake house" and initially, I think there were two people who went into the "real house" temporarily for tasks. Eventually, they lifted up the wall and both houses merged into one.

Best non-blocked video I could find that has at least part of the reveal in it (towards the end):

What was kinda neat though: When the two people entered the real house for the first time, they spun the diary room chair around, which revealed the hidden door.

I wonder what this means, and why. Hopefully they’re not planning on editing it for the individual uploads.

No wonder this marathon is being halved. They're streaming the boring The Insider shows.

Bit odd since they skipped the Saturday episodes in the 2001 marathon. Maybe its inclusion is to just pad out each half a bit?

I hope they leave the VOD of the stream up then because there is noway anyone can watch the whole thing in one go. I'm already 7 hours behind after sleeping last night.

I'm >10 hours behind but I'll skip ahead some bits. I'm up to Leah "we've got two pools AND A TENNIS COURT" 🤣

You think that would be one they would keep as it won't make alot of sense without it
They've just stopped the Nominations that was playing to go back to it. So just someone skipped it when queuing for the stream I guess.
