yeah this is true. I was hoping once digitised they would AI upscale them. Maybe they still will?Watching the stream, you could tell different cameras were different resolutions and quality.

In 2001, the show was not shot or produced in a resolution that would look good today. We had HD TV back then, but most people watched in SD and HD displays were smaller and not full HD. There isn't going to be some extremely good looking version of the show that exists. It was also probably produced at a lower quality than the cameras captured due to the tight production turn around.
Watching the stream, you could tell different cameras were different resolutions and quality.
It's weird how it all worked with old TVs and the resolutions. We used to watch VHS and think it was fine. Now load it up on a screen and it's potato quality.
Even this stream, watching on my second monitor, or my big flat screen. It didn't look great. Watching on my phone it look perfectly fine.
They need to delete those 480p uploads and start again. I just want the original footage uploaded in 1080p. When people don't know what they are doing they often make things look worse. And that's what happened here.yeah this is true. I was hoping once digitised they would AI upscale them. Maybe they still will?

Agree, the upload quality is horrendous... they ran them upscaled 1080p on the stream, they should have just cut those and output upscaled because if you're doing 720p it'll downscale it to 480p.They need to delete those 480p uploads and start again. I just want the original footage uploaded in 1080p. When people don't know what they are doing they often make things look worse. And that's what happened here.
Also to note, Uncut eps are censored (unsurprisingly)
Imagine being the diehard OG fan who is overseas at the moment… where the live stream was, and the YouTube channel is, geoblocked so can’t revel in this glorious and unprecedented experience with you all…

Look, I never thought I’d see this day. I’m surprised, albeit excited. Although I am still very curious how they’ll skirt around music licensing and sponsors as the seasons progress.
What I will say is, someone at Ten definitely has the right idea. Not just about Big Brother, but about most of their legacy TV and using YouTube as a means of archiving their catalogue shows.
Not sure how many of you are aware, but over the last few months they’ve also been digitising and uploading EVERY single episode of Neighbours here and here. This is arguably a bigger feat than uploading BB, and those episodes get thousands of views and ring in extra revenue for the production. (The only downside is a lot of the original music and underscore is replaced at times, again due to licensing. But the weigh-up is you’re getting long lost media in full and fantastic quality not seen since 40 years ago.)
So I am very impressed by the effort being put into all this. Likewise, with their plans to now seemingly do the same for BBAU. A genius marketing strategy in the lead up to the new season.

I never realised. How close the control room, etc were to the stage in S1. You can see the windows into the control room in the evictions. Did these facilities move as more season were made. Because I recall the stage getting bigger as seasons went on.
For this new season, control room, edit facilities, and other technology can problem be kept off site. Now tech has advanced.

They're really dark and murky compared to the stream, too... I wonder where in the process they fucked it up.
At least we know to capture what we want from the future streams... I managed to get the BB01 titles on my phone, but I would've made more of an effort to keep the resolution and frame rate and stuff intact if I'd've known there was only one chance.
EDIT: It's private again

Not in the US. At least not without a VPN. The channel is only showing 1 video uploaded, and it’s the video of the full theme.Nah they're there, I can see 'em. In all their 480p glory![]()

Yeah, the US was the only country where the marathon stream was blocked, too. So I wouldn’t expect them to provide the uploaded videos there either
That's still way better than what was available beforehand. For anyone wondering what the quality was like before they got taken down. I took a screen grab of one of the eps:
Disappointed to hear they ran Uncut back through the editing system. Perhaps 10 Play will offer the content as it was?

I thought this too! The stage was bigger in later seasons. Though for the Aus version the control room was actually quite far away in comparison. I always found it interesting they ran utilities through that stretch of woods out to the compound.
The control room will still be on site. While audio, lighting control and features such as remote door locking can be done remotely, they need a hard-line feed to the video equipment to capture uncompressed HD video en masse. They also need to have access to the house.

The control room was always situated in the amphitheatre, it actually never moved, even for the 9 era. Idk how they concentrated with the screaming audience thoughI never realised. In the live chat BBAU said they would get banned by Youtube if they uploaded them, so it seems they at least decided to put edited eps up rather than none at all.Disappointed to hear they ran Uncut back through the editing system. Perhaps 10 Play will offer the content as it was?
I only took a few of screenshots during the stream on the weekend. For anyone wondering what the quality was like before they got taken down. I took a screen grab of one of the eps:
I'll chuck some up for comparrison. They're at the captured resolution of my PC though.
