Benjamin HM 2012 - Officially joins Behind Big Brother.

So Ben, what do you think of all the "twists" this season, what with prize money being given away to HMs, the whole "power" twist in general.... and the biggest one, limited nomination discussion?

It was about damage control, I just had a conversation with Angie in the bathroom after 24 hrs of people complaining about the nature of Ava and Estelle's friendship. You have to understand - a small issue in the house is a massive conundrum for the housemates. I felt I was the only one who would complain about someone and then voice it to their face. A majority of people just would sit in corners complaining. Every single person who was making fun of the fact Estelle had an issue with a simple fact: she was simply just agreeing with everything Ava said. She was lying. Estelle had spent a few week saying she didn't eat/like certain food but when Ava arrived Estelle completely changed her beliefs on food and most moral stances. It had made Angie believe something needed to be done. That Estelle was needing to be sat down. Actually they were all going to have a house meeting to discuss her behaviour - asking for an explanation from Estelle. I had told Angie I would bring it up with Estelle in a less confrontational manner. Ava had arrived and no one had a chance to talk with her because Estelle was blocking them. It was also heavily felt Estelle would go home that week and we were all concerned if Ava had put all her eggs in one basket - it would be hard for her the following week. Josh had said on a number of occasions - every time I want some time with Ava, Estelle would be there to make life difficult. The fact of the matter is Estelle lied to Ava about their relationship - for reasons unknown. Had she cared for Ava she may have not have thrown herself at Josh the moment Ava was evicted. To be fare on the telling of this particular story - Ava and Estelle are complete strangers on the outside world and have little in common. Had their bond been a true and honest friendship I don't think anyone would have cared. PLUS they would still be friends now.

I knew something wasn`t quite right in the House but in the environment you were all in, I really did feel for Estelle. It really did affect me, that year, I just wanted somebody to be there for her, not go running into Childish School Play Ground type situations and talk and laugh about her. I still like, admire Estelle. When the last 3 were there, you Estelle and Layla, I thought even then how you were hurtful, not including her. No matter what the situation, I could never not make someone feel welcome, part of the threesome. It should have been special for all of you. I felt nearly as strongly about Tahan, who I will say is the most beautiful person to ever go in the Big Brother House. Seemed to be the one chosen to be left out, talked about. Tahan was honest, direct and behaved like a Lady in the house, I might add. I am now hoping David isn`t the next target this year. Ben, you won the money, good on you but I do believe it`s best leaving Estelle alone now, outside the house. You don`t like her? Fine. Move forward and let her be.

In the last twenty four Hours of Big Brother there was very little shown of the dynamics between the three of us. In actual fact the last day was not shown at all. Estelle was more sure of herself than ever before. Her behaviour made Layla and I believe she was was under the impression she had won. There was an arrogance I had never seen before. Almost like a truth she had been hiding. She talked over the top of Layla, she cut off every story - to contradict it and this made it impossible to bring sympathy to her. I woke up every day in BB and looking at Estelle and thought I am going to try again. Within minutes she would make me feel uncomfortable or frustrated. If it was as simple for people to see what really happened with Estelle I am sure people would not have seen her as a poster girl for targeted-Bullying. I think she conjured a characters for the show. Something I could never understand, (as I was being as real as I possibly could.) I think she would chop and change with these characters and in this example I can discuss in a clear light one of the reasons why I didn't feel like it was possible to include her. Pretending to be something your not makes people feel uncomfortable. I would have a conversation about climate change with her - which Hippie Estelle would have thoughts and opinions. Then the next day I would have a conversation about climate change with RAPPER-GANGSTER Estelle and she would contradict everything from the day before. One day I asked her point blank why she had so drastically changed her opinion - she did not repsond with words - she mad barking noises and disappeared off into the next room. I was left wondering what part of this performance was real. Who was this girl?

This is the best season of Big Brother yet. Its a real game changer. I honestly think the teams will dissipate at some point - I mean the show does still say - there is only ONE winner. (In the opening credits)
 
Ben, I still hear bits and pieces of all housemates from your series from time to time all apart from one. Bradley. Do you know if anyone still keeps in contact or even if he is still around somewhere? Or nobody knows what happened to him?

Thank for explaining, I guess we only saw what was heavily edited. I never felt that Estelle was bullied, I did feel very sorry for her though. Hey if there`s an abandoned dog with three legs, one eye, I`ll always go for it, comfort it rather than the very perfect dog. I didn`t think Estelle would win, in the end and am not sorry you did win. Just a few things were bugging me from the past, I`d put them to rest until I saw it all brought up on this Forum.

The beauty of Bradley was how perfect he was for Big Brother. He went in and did his thing and then went back to Uni. I have spoken to him a couple of times since the show and I get the feeling he has just gone on about his business. He is a really lovely kid. Very intelligent and I am incredibly grateful for the friendship I formed with Brad during the show.

I remember Angie saying to someone that Estelle would be doing weird things in front of the cameras and mirrors, kind of like playing up to them I guess. Was this a constant thing that she did? And on the finale night when Sonia went into the house to talk to you after it had been announced that you had won, did that shock you at all that Sonia was there?
Oh and full disclosure here during the 2012 season one day I would dislike Estelle and the next I would feel bad for her. by the end I wanted her to win, just because I felt bad for her.

The beauty of Bradley was how perfect he was for Big Brother. He went in and did his thing and then went back to Uni. I have spoken to him a couple of times since the show and I get the feeling he has just gone on about his business. He is a really lovely kid. Very intelligent and I am incredibly grateful for the friendship I formed with Brad during the show.

I then got a bit angry, felt sorry for Zoe. Michael was very smart but some of us were a step in front. I think in the end he sacrificed his win to make sure Estelle didn`t win. Was happy enough to see Ben win. It was all happening. ;)
