Ben is a Fake!

Ben haters should be directing their displeasure at Ch 9 for their focus on Ben in the daily shows than Ben's purported acting. I don't think going on diatribes about Ben's lack of authencity will achieve anything to be honest. You've been doing that from almost day dot and yet to make any inroads or at least none that I can see. Try another angle would be my advice, you may get somewhere attacking Nine's obsession with showing Ben's childish antics.

In my opinion it's a question of how different the Ben we are seeing in the house is from the one before going in it. If he is that drastically different from pre-BB as the haters are constantly crying about then I can only say that he should've decided on an acting career a long time ago. The dude's got mad acting skills for keeping up that charade 24/7 for 2 months and counting. It's darn impressive I must say.

as a fellow fan of Ben i find it impossible to believe that you haven't seen the different side to Ben that pops out occasionally
While i do disagree that he is being 'fake' i can't deny that there's overwhelming evidence, with what I've seen for myself and with what his own ex workmates have said about him that he is definitely exaggerating certain aspects of his personality

All of this just makes him all the more interesting to me :)

That's the thing I'm not even a Ben 'fan' per se but I just don't get why certain posters get so worked up about him. lol

Nobody is 100% happy, sad, etc.. of all time so I don't expect from Ben or any other human for that matter to be in one state of mind/emotion all of the time. And from my perspective I'm yet to see any evidence that there's a totally different side of Ben that his critics are adamant pops up once in a while.

An example of what I consider a different side to his 'adorkable' persona would be saying and/or acting like the Michael and Ben douche bags of 2012. If he had slipped out of character and let someone like those 2 out of the bag then I'd be jumping on the hate bandwagon in no time. 'Til that happens I just don't see the point of going on about his fake persona when is probably not that different to how he actually is before entering the house.

I'm a bit perplexed at the excitement of 2 articles relating to a comedy routine from 8 years ago and a couple of articles about being done for protesting. My 2 bobs worth: nothing to see, move along...

Ah see i don't think he's like those two at all, i do think he's more self aware than what he makes out....
An example is a time when he made a flirtatious remark to i think it was Matt, it was quite funny and i had a giggle but stopped dead when he have a sly sidewards glance into the camera...kind of like a 'did you catch that' look..... it was the kind of thing you would expect to see on a comedy skit, if that makes sense lol

Can someone explain how Ben is entertaining? Is a pathetic I can't do anything for myself, make an occasional joke and talk to photos persona really entertaining?

He may not be fake, but he's certainly not being 100% genuine. He's found a way to target sympathy votes from the public. Odd looking, single gay man, with the social awkwardness of Bradley last year and his constant talk of his mom wins him points.

He pegged the majority of voters. Middle aged woman and mothers who find his child like behavior as a cute trait. And the younger voters with sympathy.

Just saw this thread. So what if he has done a bit of stand up comedy. He is clearly not a seasoned pro. He definitely has some talent. I sincerely hope Big Brother wins him a wider audience.

If it turns out the his whole thing inside the house was one big act, then good on him, I hope he wins an academy award AND Big Brother.

Do you think Tim isn't acting. Did you really believe him when he "fell for Lucy", and then he "fell for Jade", and now "he is falling for Boog". Tim is making up a story for himself every week. He is acting. Doesn't bother me one bit. So long as it is entertaining.

Exactly! No one can go in and not make stuff up, or exaggerate. Everyone puts on some kind of show, but also shows their true self - impossible not to. Really comes down to what producers decide to show us...

He's funny in an oddball awkward sort of way. Heck there are people who find Josh Thomas funny and pay to watch his material, a comedian who I don't find funny at all, just pathetically weird. Ben's awkwardness (put on or not) on the other hand has amused me on several occassion, not in a LOL kinda way but still. Plus the anger he arouses from the 'haters' adds to the amusement as well. That's the type of reaction I expected to be reserved for scum like Michael and Ben last year.

Having said that he ain't getting no votes from me. He's outlasted the housemates I'd wanted him to outlast and would be happy if he were to be evicted on this upcoming eviction.

Bollocks. I do stand-up. The everyday, garden-variety "me" - frequently anxious, awkward, idiosyncratic etc - would never be able to do stand-up. That's why stand-up is rehearsed, with a slightly exaggerated (often in terms of confidence/brashness) persona frequently adopted.

I have a bunch of friends who do stand up and have hung around many. So I have a slight experience with people doing it.

I totally understand how people aren't always on. It's an on stage things. However Ben cries having to do basic tasks in the BB house. Where there's no pressure. The way he has presented himself to me on the show doesn't fit with this.

It's why for a long time people on here have been commenting that he doesn't make sense. That there's different incompatible parts of his personality. Discovering something like this, goes the way of helping to explain it.

And he makes out like he has no one on the outside yet when I was at an eviction I met his friends.

They seem pretty good friends too - Team Ben
I have a pic if someone could tell me how to post it.

I've just watched half of Wednesday's episode and I have to say the voices he used to mimic drew and ed so effortlessly were a tad to deep and velvety in tone for his real voice to be so squeaky and nerdy. Not to mention the 'tude he demonstrated when he spoke in those mimicking voices, it's all very suss. lol

To stand up on stage & do anything in front of people seems to be in exact opposition to what Ben portrays to the HM's & viewers...

I'd much prefer someone else to win BB than a person who attempts to win by deceiving the viewers he wants to vote for him...

Guys shy people can get on stage and do things! I remember being pertty shocked at how this guy was the loudest most enthusiastic in the school play, but off stage he was so quiet and you could barely extract one word from him. It was suprising he was the best in the play. And also, on that note, a girl who was very outspoken in real life, actually was very nervous on stage.

I remember reading somewhere about how a lot of actors are actually very shy, and they are drawn to acting because they don't know what to say in real life. Or soemthign like that. I'm just guessing now... maybe on stage, they might not be worried about being judged for a "fake" persona, but in real life they fear being judged for themselves.

Whatever he does - he should at least come out & tell the HM's & viewers .... not keep it a secret - smacks of deception

"The reason I play characters so well is because I am (or was) a stand up comedian" and let the chips fall where they may. I just believe its better to be upfront & honest, not hide bits of your past, coz on reality TV shows like this, it all comes out eventually...

omg... Ben's an actor? Nowai!!@#@!!!

(I added the extra !! for tension)

In perspective, he had one paid stand up gig seven years ago while Tim was on TV and radio for a couple of years, and passed off as a student.
