Ben is a Fake!

I suspect that BB knows he has done comedy work, but they kept it quiet. Doesn't BB usually keep housemates with media occupations pretty quiet? This could be the same thing. I bet the comedy stage in the LOL task was set up with Ben's comedian skills in mind.

Ben may have told the housemates, wouldn't really be a shock to them cos he is so good at roleplaying and doing it all the time. BB will just keep that from us, it makes Ben's character more believable and the wow factor for those who do not realise he has done stand up before.

I do suspect that Ben is hamming it up for the cameras with his comedy and acting skills. Like others have said it is probably himself, just exaggerated? Some things like talking to the photos I always thought was purely for the cameras. I'm just glad they have stopped airing the photo talking stuff for a long time now. That was so boring.

Ben should get an Oscar for playing this role 24/7 and staying the part.

The pics posted on this page show screen shots of people's phones showing the continuous votes they are sending to save ben. It's going to be very hard to get him voted out any time soon.
 
The samesame story is getting traction on Twitter now. It might turn the tide a bit. Tim to win methinks.
 
tim has openly told everyone he worked in radio

and we have evidence of at least 2 paying gigs for ben - i'm not going far out on a limb to say that if he was opening for hannah gadsby (who is well known and hi.lario.us) then he's not only more than competent on stage, but likely to be highly experienced.

face it, he's deceptive, he's a ringer, he's played every ben supporter like a virtuoso (with BB's help). suckers.
 
So how many people have actually been to a Ben Zabel standup comedy gig? Surely if he were a regular on the circuit we would have heard from at least a few people in this forum who have actually been to one of his shows. The best people here can come up with is a mention of an obscure show or two at a tiny theatre in Brisbane (Metro arts is a nice performance space but it is small).

I think think the reason he doesn't talk about it is he did a few gigs several years ago, and he does not consider himself a comedian.
I used to do theatre and have acted in several short films (but not for a few years now) but I would never tell people that I was an actor. There is a difference between an occasional hobby and vocation.

Ben's situation btw is nothing like Tim's. Tim was a professional. Not big time but he had a paying regular gig on TV.

Hannah Gadsby is well-known now, but this was a few years ago. Plus in Melbourne at least you can go to some really small gigs and the first act might be someone doing their first or second ever show ever first ever show, but the last performer will be a pro (for example I saw Cal Wilson perform at a tiny bar in Collingwood one night and it was that sort of set up - the entrance fee was three dollars). My guess is the pros just do these gigs to try out new material.
 
I guess Ben's act annoys me more than Tim's because Ben's "poor little me" schtick obliges people to tread gently for fear of being seen as bullying. It's a pity he didn't choose to go with the more adult, wittier persona. But then that wouldn't shelter him so well from confrontations or nominations. Tim's act is also less insulting because he involves us, and acknowledges that we know he's playing, whereas Ben is content to play the one level and seemingly thinks we deserve no more effort than pyjamas and pathos.

Maybe that's why he left home 10 years ago? now BB have him hyped up on the OS, as Australia's Favourite Mummy's Boy LOL
I guess he may have sorted out things with his mum now, especially if he lost his job, and has anxiety issues. Doesnt he have problems with his sister?

I dont think Ben talked much to the HM's about his life, as it was few weeks before Tim ever knew he was once a flight attentant.
I think those flight attentant jokes he did in the LOL task could be ones he used during his time as a stand up?
There is a special Facebook page for supporting Ben. Friends and old workmates are supporting him, and have t-shirts and badges etc..so I think he does have a life to go back to when leaves the house plus he will have heaps of fans, and job offers.

For some time I thought I like Ben much better when he's not Ben, but one of those weird characters he seems to be pulling out of nowhere... first one comes to mind when he told Drew that he wasn't really gay, hated pyjamas etc. etc., that was just so good... then when he went back to his Ben Ben, his character lost all its appeal again.

the other night Ben and Drew were outside alone at night, joking around, Ben flirting and joking about being the P.S together, joking about he could breathe through his ears LOL , saying something about, man has to do what a man has to do , and some of us in the live feed thought he make have been talking about masterbation, or he had done it in the house. with no late night feast show now, BB won't be able to show that video LOL
later though he was found by Tim upset in the bathroom saying he would have nothing to go home too, and crying while Tim comforted him (BB showed us this part on the daily show)
 
It's interesting to me that Ben has stated on a few occasions that he has had a falling out with his siblings, and yesterday told Tim he cut a decade long friendship off because he felt obliged to pay for his friend. Doesn't look good on him. Also, someone on this forum brought up a good point that if Ben has lived alone for 10 years, how is it that he doesn't know how to cook, do dishes etc.?

Personally, I do like him generally speaking, but I find him to be fake as well. The whole schtick with talking to photos, jumping in and out of the tough guy character etc. is all a bit weird. He keeps mentioning that he doesn't have a job, and this is his (and BB's remember the whole BB secretary task?) way of promoting him as a likeable, yet quirky character. I imagine he will have offers flooding in after this. I don't feel he's done enough to win BB though.

Ben said he buys frozen veggies, so doesnt need to cut up fresh veggies. He doesn't like to cook but does do the dishes at times in the house. He said he has dishwasher in his apartment but doesnt use it,so he must so his dishes at home...and make his bed.
