Ben Appreciation Thread

I thought I read somewhere ben said he does make stuff up. I had my doubts about some of his nocturnal eating stories but hey it was funny and nobody got hurt so I don't mind.
As Mark "Chopper" Read once misquoted - never let the truth get in the way of a good story.
I think he's hilarious! Just the kind of friend I would love to have.
I love his guts out.
Ditto! Everytime he is on screen, I love him a little more.

Most of the time I reckon Ben is good value. And then there are the times when he seems to be offering up talking points for the Australian Christian Lobby as the self identified tragic gay.
Just hearing him talk on Confidential about how he wouldn't likely become a parent because of his selfish indulgence in gay life made me cringe. Unfortunately some gay guys buy into the myth of gay identity as a way of deflecting personal responsibility. If he wants to own up to being too selfish for kids then I'm fine with that. But then he makes it about being gay. It's the sort of comment the likes of Jim Wallace would love to crow about as evidence of why they think people don't make good parents unless they're straight.
Fortunately Ben makes up for it. When he donned that dress for his DR reward I thought he looked like Tamsin Greig. What a carry on!

^ the dress thing. We can't have any un-family friendly (barf) footage on our screens lest the poor closed off individuals of society see some boozies but you will screen footage of the gay man, shock horro, cross dressing! Hope channel 9 wasn;t bombarded with hate mail or anything from all their wowser viewers.
BB I am confused, what are you playing at?
Are you automatically 'selfish' if you don't want kids? Maybe you just know it isn't right for you, doesn't have to be about being selfish or not.

Ben is the best housemate in the place, at the moment. He is sticking his nose into everything that is going on, being a good and clever friend to every other housemate, drawing them out (even Charne, a little). He is very good at keeping his mouth shut when people express opinions that I am sure he does not completely agree with, and the look on his face on those occasions is priceless (eg. Zoe on why Sarah should be allowed to hurt Zoe with her vegetarianism, and yet not allow poor Zoe the right to hurt animals, when they are made of meat etc.)
He is no shrinking violet, loads of innocent, fun entertainment, but he already has a sizeable dirt file at the ready if any housemate should choose to turn on him, and this week he will close the door. (Although, later on I could see him turning around and facing the housemates, delivering his nominations with the door wide open. He is not afraid of controversy, but he is very strategic.)

throw Ben away
Thrown out of every job he ever had, of course you would chuck him out of your house before he could say another rude thing to you. He is very nasty.
honestly i don't like him i think if he were to ever set foot in my house
i'd probably end up throwing him out the door lol

I really love Ben ... He is one of my favourites
ONE SMALL THING that annoys me with him .... He doesn't like being pigeon holed as gay, yet he seems to be putting dresses on at any given chance he gets, and fitting into almost every gay stereotype out there. I obviously have no issue with him being gay (I'm gay) - But come on!

I expect he'll be the sort of HM to be up for eviction pretty much all of the time. My impression is that a large proportion of voters spend their money to punish the nominee they imagine has done wrong. Ben's behaviour simultaneously makes him entertaining to watch and propped front and centre of the radar.
This is a shame as the longer he's in that place the more chance he'll throw us some samples of his job losing talent at tantrums.
