BBUK returns Sun 8 Oct 2023 (and Celeb BB back in 2024)

Sadly the Elstree mob found the new house tonight and ruined the eviction completely - hijacking the announcement with their pathetic chanting and just making the whole thing negative and depressing after the party atmosphere we had last week around the first eviction. Also meant we barely saw the reaction to the evictee leaving in the house because the attention was on the crowd.

We seem to have a fanbase bought up on C5 Big Brother who think locking two girls in a cage in the pouring rain for hours isn't harsh enough punishment for discussing nominations but that the rent a mob on Friday nights should be entitled to communicate to the house who they want out - and it'll likely backfire as the housemates who heard it will likely now think twice about nominating Kerry as they won't want to be seen to be easily swayed.

I was absolutely buzzing after the eviction last week - it felt really old school and a real event. Tonight the crowd just made it depressing again with their booing throughout the show and chanting during the announcement. Hopefully they take the announcement back in doors next week - indeed given how close the studio is there is no need at all to do it amongst the crowd.

Will be interesting to hear Zcsund1234's account of being in the audience tonight since the chanting broke out - since pre-launch they had said they wouldn't be tolerating booing and chanting for the revival.

It was so shockingly unexpected. I’ll write up my experience soon. I’ll just say that seeing the chants of “get x out” on TV, is so different to being part of it. It was honestly brutal.

The whole chanting thing could be sorted by simply telling the crowd to STFU when the announcement is being made and having strict rules for those who violate it.

AJ has improved but still don’t think she pairs that well with Will. He has such an energetic presenting style that doesn’t match well with hers. The only thing I found a bit annoying was how slow AJ’s eviction announcement went. It’s almost like they jumped the gun by a few minutes and told her she needed to slow it down.

Highlight of the night was Matty and Jordan. My heart melted 😍. Will be interested to see if this develops in to a Harry - Jordan - Matty love triangle.

Not much they could really do other than kick them out. And since the eviction happens right at the very end of show, would anyone even feel like they're missing out on anything at that point for it to be a consequence? The audience probably starts to leave anyway once Late and Live is filming/airing, so it would probably just mean that they'd get to leave first instead of slowly getting out with the rest of the crowd.

Also, the Kerry-haters by chanting have also guaranteed she'll get her own segment in the next episode showing her reaction to the chant. They've made themselves see more of her. 😂

I do think they get a few repeat audience members so banning them from future shows might be a worthy punishment.

I can’t believe there are actually people out there that thought the chanting was a welcomed addition to tonight’s show.

Went back and re-watched the Hallie and Olivia "code" scene during nominations... Production did a little bit of shit stirring imo when saying that Olivia confirmed the letters "N" and "O" but left out that the fourth letter was easily visibly an "I" (as Hallie just drew a line) to make it seem that she was possibly passing on a message about Noky...

Absolutely, and now producers broken the rule again for a second time by letting the crowd influence nominations. Hope they're locked in cages in the rain for the weekend.

The eviction announcement was so weird. Everything about last week was perfect but the crowd really seem to throw AJ and she seemed to slow down to make sure the house heard it (Davina would just speak through it). Also assumed Will would get to do the annonucement this week and they'd alternate (like Ant and Dec do). AJ announcing the evictee very much makes her the lead presenter, and she leads the interview too. Perhaps she technically is but on screen Will is clearly more than a match for her.

I've realised tonight - and indeed earlier this week with the reaction to the Hallie and Olivia punishment - how vile so much of the fanbase is. They forget the housemates aren't just housemates - they're people. I got slated last night for being vocal against it on Twitter, though looking on Digital Spy forums today the feeling seems to be much more line in what I'm saying with a few threads calling it out.

Now I wanted Kerry out last week, wanted her out this week and want her out next week - but when you step back and look at her supposed crimes what is it she's actually done other than throw a couple of childish tantrums and been a bit fake? Certainly doesn't warrant the vitriol some fans seem to think she does - I've seen some people encouraging their followers to email her boss and abuse the NHS complaints system just because they don't like a couple of things she did on a TV show.

This is why I kind of prefer the US format now - most our judgement on housemates is on the gameplay first and foremost rather than their personality. It's only when they're truly vile that comes into account.

For anyone who needs easy access to episodes, this website has all the complete seasons of BB UK (civilian + celeb) and is very quick with uploading latest BB UK episodes. It also has every season of BB Australia and Canada.
Thanks for that. I've been making do keeping up with the general gist of whats been going on here and with the little shorts to they've been putting up on the official youtube channel and other little bits since about Day 5. (And also continuing my watch of BB6).

Where they had to set up the tents in the mud room with the big blower was funny.

Was hoping somewhere might put up the live feed slots considering if you miss it live on ITVX they don't make it available to stream later. Seems the Big Brother EF-Net IRC channel is all but dead now.

When it comes to booing at the eviction shows, the biggest bullshit is people defending their action with Davina's "It's just panto" excuse. It's clearly been a line by Davina to calm people down and not her approval towards the crowd to be shitty. It's so obvious that for many of them, it's clearly more than just panto.

But the Twitter crowd is weird anyways. I'm surprised that so many people think/thought that this BBUkIris account is a proper producer and not just a weird fan saying general shit.

VERY LONG POST !!!!

I finally get to lay down in bed after an exhausting 2 days of constant travelling. So I’ll share with you all my experience at the BBUK love eviction show.

The studio is a short walk away from the train station, once I got to the studio at about 7:20PM and along the walk there were about 7 security guards every few meters showing people which way to go. Once I got to the studio I entered a giant warehouse that looked like a giant school gymnasium where we were all to line up.

Lining up took about 45 minutes and the process was extremely slow. Once you reached the end of the line they would scan your ticket and then lock your phone in a yondr pouch. Apparently ITV are extremely strict when it comes to photography according to the floor manager.

The security was also pretty tight, we all got fully patted down and had to empty pockets and prove we had no other phones/photography devices on us. One lady was told to remove her watch (something about it being able to take pictures) and she went ballistic at the security lol. Her husband had already passed through and she called him back over and they stormed out and left lmao.

Once you get checked you go sit down in rows of about 80 or so, just as you would in primary school assembly or so. There was about 300-400 people I’d say in the hall once I was in there. What really shocked me was that about 70% of the people there were easily under the age of 30. There were some people older, who must have been long term fans as I heard them discuss how this was a lot smaller than what the crowds used to be. Oh and so many gay couples. I’ve never felt so single in my life lol.

The floor manager also told us that 10,000 people applied for tickets and we were all very lucky to get them. So I’d say the chances of there being repeat attendees in the crowd is not likely at.

We sat down in our rows for about half an hour and then at 8:20 they opened the roller door and allowed us row by row to walk over to the stage. The stage is TINY. It was honestly so small I was so shocked once I saw it. It is literally the size of a regular person’s backyard. I was no more than about 2.5 meters away from the stage.

The staff were super friendly actually. The guy that comes out and hypes up the crowd was so funny. They really emphasis how important the crowd is to the show. During ad breaks there’s a DJ that plays music and we all danced and the best dancers got a signed card from AJ and Will.

Speaking of, AJ and Will came out within minutes of us all arriving. And they were super friendly and did so well. They interacted with us and they really appreciated all the enthusiasm. Poor AJ was freezing in the jumpsuit as it was really cold. She had to hold heat bags and had hot water bottles on her feet to keep her warm. Will is also so much sexier IRL. I thought he just sucks in his cheeks in pictures, but no he just has really nice cheekbones.

Honestly, they have way more chemistry than the show lets us see. They were super happy and looked like they were genuinely having fun as we watched them rehearse lines together and they even danced and sung with us during the ad breaks.

There’s also so many people working on the show behind the cameras. Every time the show crossed back to the daily show a team of about 8 or so people would rush onto the stage to do up AJ’s makeup and fix up Will’s hair. There were multiple camera men and heaps of supervising producers and many security in the midst of the crowd.

They also loved the signs in the crowd (I really wish I made one now) they actually took time to look at every single one of them and even invited everyone with a sign to come and take a group photo with AJ and Will. And because there’s three different spots in the crowd where AJ and Will present from there’s multiple opportunities for crowd members to appear on screen.

As for the crowd, they hate Kerry. It was made obvious to me as early as walking towards the house in our rows. I heard multiple people say things like “Kerry is a horrible person”. They really hated her. That crowd genuinely despised her. Surprisingly they loved Jenkin, anytime he came on screen they’d all laugh. There was a lot of praise for Jordan and pretty much universal love for Yinrun. I cheered for Yinrun and the people around me started to as well and we got so loud to the point where one of the security had to tell us to calm down.

You may notice that in last week’s show when AJ was naming Farida and Kerry as nominees there was almost no cheers the first time their names were spoken. It seems the first crowd did the same thing as us, we weren’t sure if we were allowed to make noise so we didn’t do anything. Then later in the ad break the crowd manager said to us whenever they read a nominees name we are to cheer even if they aren’t our favourites.

Along with that, they never explicitly told us not to boo, but they were definitely alluding to wanting us to cheer and be crazy and loud.

When I was walking in my row I heard a group of girls behind me discussing if they could boo or not, I said I’m pretty sure we can’t. Everyone seemed to be under the impression that we either couldn’t boo or it wasn’t very clear if we could. But once we all figured out it was pretty much free reign, yeah…

During the whole show the crowd was rather positive for most of it. Yinrun was getting literal universal cheers from everyone. Many people were interested in the Matty and Jordan storyline when it showed on screen. The only negative thing I noticed was Olivia and Hallie getting booed when AJ and Will mentioned the rule breaking.

When it came time to the eviction I was not expecting the get Kerry out chants at all. The crowd was not giving that vibe at all. I knew they didn’t like Kerry, but I really thought everyone would just be positive like they asked us to be. But omg once they crossed to the house and the chants started. It was just so weird. I wasn’t expecting it at all.

I was on the centre left part of the crowd facing the stage, the chants started coming from the right side. Everyone around me was shocked at it and we all just started laughing at how savage it was. Everyone was surprised at it. Then everyone else started joining in. I’m not sure if everyone just stopped to let AJ talk or if the other side was told to stop. Either way, it came out of literal no where.

So yeah, then Zak left and he seemed so uncomfortable facing the crowd in person. He looked so tense up on stage.

Oh and also, the late and live stage is literally right next to the house, like 10 meters from the end of the walkway. And the fire exit door seems to be used because it’s the only door I think that is actually there. The other entrance was blocked by numerous security and camera men.

Once AJ, Will and Zak had entered the late and live studio, we started to all head off back down towards the street to leave. Of course everyone was desperate to get their phones out of those pockets lol.

But yeah, that was my experience. Honestly I had so much fun. That’s one of the highlights of my European trip so far. I’ll forever remember it as a great experience. I’ll absolutely go out of my way to try go again!

I hope I included everything. Ask any questions if it seems there’s things I should have mentioned!

Thanks for the account. They make good use of a small space - I just wish they had thought more about how the set would look on the inside when transferring from inside to outside considering they do it quite often on Late and Live as well as for the eviction. All they had to do really was turn the set so the tunnel lined up with the fire door (I think there is also a studio door too).

They've got an eye which they put in front of the tunnel on Late & Live this week but removed it for the eviction - just stick that in front of the fire door and it's job done.

I still think as well the proximity of the studio to the house meant they could have got away with an indoor eviction set - even if it's a replica of the outdoor set they used. I think that's a more than acceptable trade off for a bigger garden - they just need to rejig the exit from the house to line up with the studio door they use. Means everyone is warm and the crowd, however big it is, can stick around for the interview.

Yes - it was panto in the early days but it soon became much nastier than that and seemingly even worse in the C5 years. There is a section of the regulars who have a complete disregard for the viewers at home, the format and indeed the housemates.

And yet someone still managed to get their phone in.
