BBUK returns Sun 8 Oct 2023 (and Celeb BB back in 2024)

Do we know for sure that HM interviews will take place on the outdoor stage?

I wonder if it's a similar situation as to what they had at Dreamworld - a main audience/stage area indoors, and then a flashy house entrance for some nice entry/exit shots?

The outdoor stage is almost certainly just for them to enter/exit the house with the rest conducted from an indoor studio. Indeed they've already confirmed eviction interviews will be done on the spin off show which will obviously be using a studio.

I am so excitedddddddd.

Sidenote, random request. Does anyone have BBUK 2005 on a hard drive somewhere? I realised just recently when searching for "kinga wine bottle" that this season has been scrubbed from Youtube 😭

I’ve not been this excited for a season of Big Brother for years! After the interview with the producer saying the season took inspiration from the Australian iteration, I’m actually looking forward to seeing what our version could’ve been if it were live.

The C7 house designs have been aesthetically great, I personally enjoy the robotic Big Brother voice and if you take the poor editing away the casting has been solid (Angela, Tilly, Taras, Garth, etc would’ve been great TV in a international format version of the show). If the UK is doing all that with sticking to the original format, I’m over the moon.

The other comment that stood out is that TV has gone full circle and to stand out in the saturated reality market of glossy, slick programming they are going back to raw tv. If only the Seven executives were this switched on!

I'm watching BBUK6 at the moment I'm up to Week 7. I'll PM ;)

Speaking of YouTube my biggest concern is where I’m going to watch this new series. ITV are pretty relentless when it comes to scrubbing their shows from YouTube.

Is ITV a paid on demand service or free catch-up? VPN?
I believe ITVX is free with ads or a paid subscription without. A VPN is an option I guess however it would be much easier if I didn’t have to go through that hassle and more cost effective.

Yes - and a bit of worry for the archive too. Production companies and channels often turn a blind eye to programmes up online which are no longer in production or being repeated, but now it's back in production they may be much more ruthless.

That said though C4 still hold the copyright to their series at least so ITV would have no claim on them.

As for where you might find it - there is a "Biggest Best Bits" show on tonight on ITV2 so if that shows up for you somewhere I'd imagine the main show will as well.

I must say, it's been a good pre-launch week. AJ and Will have great chemistry and both have a deep-rooted love of the show. ITV are playing to their strengths, using their daytime shows to plug away at the show's return. Who knows what I'll think of the show once it launches, but it is nice that they are shouting from the rooftops that Big Brother is back.

I assume that we'll get the house tomorrow morning with AJ and Will appearing on This Morning, but I do like that it's still a mystery.

I guess that the show tonight will feature the same handful of clips that we always see in these kinds of BB show, but it acts as a good precursor to the main event this weekend.

I wonder if we'll see any clips from the C5-era on the special tonight. I remember hearing that they wouldn't sign off to allow the footage to be used on the "Bests Shows Ever" thing they did in 2020 on E4.

The only "best bit" that might come close to consideration is the David's Dead Farce - indeed telling that came from a bit of natural confusion rather than production manipulation.

They might avoid Celeb BB completely though if they want to concentrate on it being about real people.

I highly doubt that there will be any CBB involved - I’d imagine that they will be wanting to remind viewers that the main show needn’t live in the shadows of CBB and that it’s popular enough on its own.

From a ‘civilian’ BB perspective, I can’t see any C5 being used in the same way they haven’t used any C5 housemates on itv since the show was announced as coming back.

Well I got that completely wrong, we got C5 a-plenty, and more CBB than BB which was disappointing to me. They barely scratched the surface with Big Brother’s best moments.

However, AJ and Will’s enthusiasm and knowledge of the show is infectious. The show is in safe hands.

Way too much C5 content - David's death I can excuse as the only moment from the C5 era which reached an audience beyond Big Brother but the rest just highlighted how fake and manufactured moments were on C5 in comparison to the more authentic early years on C4.

AJ and Will came across really well though and the opening intro was very well done.

All the C5 celebrity clips reminded me of was fake reality personalities trying to create viral moments and awful earpiece challenges.

I’m surprised we didn’t get the BB9 electric shock task - that seems to be a staple of the BB clip show.
