BBUK returns Sun 8 Oct 2023 (and Celeb BB back in 2024)

Yeah but it’s also more… real?
7 have focused on shiny plastic looking walls and led strip lighting everywhere. This still looks like a house? I respect the fact they have actually built a structure within to give it a pitched roof etc.

7 on the other hand had no roof and it’s just open with studio lighting.. no attempt to make it feel real.
100% an improvement over anything 7 has built but I also see influence from earlier houses.

If I'm really picking my only criticism is the bedroom and bathroom seem far too big and luxurious. Part of that comes with too many housemates but I think the bedroom would look better if had been split into two spaces.

Overall though it's great - nice they've added a lift and them not filling every corner with furniture or dressing them with plants perhaps suggest it's designed with accessibility in mine, although the main entrance door (right next to the outdoor door) looks quite narrow with a tight turn down to the eye.

And yes, the garden could do with being bigger. I'd have probably sacrificed the eye stage almost completely for it and just had a smaller exit either through the garden or at the side of it with housemates going straight across to the studio opposite.

I'm impressed with the house. Thank god they didn't get heavily inspired by Seven's BBAU.

The limitations of the old Elstree house are well and truly gone. I was somewhat worried that they may have tried to replicate elements of Elstree to make it seem more familiar and more BBUK of old.

Yes - I don't really get why some of those who'd seen it were referencing BBAU because they've never had a house like that. The only comparison really perhaps is the overly long corridor.

P.S. Don't think it's been posted but the remixed theme tune:

100% agree with you. As for the size of the garden it’s fine for a late year series but would definitely be due for an expansion if they do in fact intend to air BB in spring/early summer. As for the entrance I guess with this series being the launch of a new era and the first in a new house they really wanted to bring some spectacle to it all.

I get they might have wanted the view across the water but just a slight tweak could have basically switched the entrance and garden around allowing for a bigger garden but a smaller entrance area - but that wouldn't matter it would lead directly into the studio so the crowd can all be housed in there.

Another tour with BB3 winner Kate Lawler - confirms the entrance also contains a lift, although she's clearly wrong with the stairs being for evictions given the geography of the house.

Wow they have spent a bit of money there. In particular by enclosing it with a proper ceiling and not just a stage lighting rig like BBAU. And yes it does seem huge. Very cool. Great idea to get a bunch of influencers in there for a sneak peek to build hype across the various platforms, too. Free advertising.

Oh they spent some money! I’m getting strong bbcan/usa vibes from the house but in the best way possible, I love that they’ve kept the small details like the eye-shaped lock indicators at the top of each door. Looks incredible!

Highly recommend checking it out if you’re longing for something that more closely resembles the original BBAU format.

6 nights/week with a spin-off chat show every night following the highlights (usually a miss unless there’s something major or post-eviction). Live feed will follow for 2 hours post spin-off. The entire series is 6 weeks which makes it fairly easy to stick with over the course of the series. The biggest and most notable difference between BBAU and BBUK is the demographics… BBUK is more adult.
Thanks!
I'm definitely going to try and give it a shot.
