Episode BBAU2023 - Episode 20 Discussion (Finale)

This could very well possibly be the last episode of Big Brother Australia… ever! 😢
Don’t hold your breath. I’m quite certain that if BBUK can get another successful series under its belt another network will want to take another shot at it.

There’s been a few that have argued that Australia isn’t the UK which is true but if you look back BBAU likely wouldn’t have happened if BBUK wasn’t a hit and the 2012 revival was clearly sparked by BBUK’s move from Channel 4 to Channel 5. I think there’s definitely some potential for an ITV style back to basics series to be successful.

Well yeah of course I’m hopeful. I actually think there is a chance that 7 would have one more crack with a format close to the UK revival.

But it is also a very distinct possibility that it never comes back.

As I can't watch live, I wonder if I will actually end up watching the finale as I will know the winner.

I'm just super curious how different they will look.

Will Josh refrost his tips?

Will the sisters look completely different?

How much of a focus will there be on if Josh and Minee's relationship and what happened? I assume they probably banged after production wrapped then just "kept in contact" as they went back to their normal lives.

The finale was pre-recorded too, so they will look exactly the same.

Seven attempting a reboot at this point could very well be disastrous. I think there’s a good case to be made that viewers want the authentic BB experience not a completely different show with the BB name attached to it. There’s too much bad blood with the current era for Seven to go back. If they were to try and fail it could potentially change the narrative to Australians just aren’t interested in the show at all.

Completely agree. With the Bachelor currently failing hard on channel 10 (possibility of cancellation) and the Traitors cancelled, 10 will have holes in their schedule to fill, just saying....

It’s really too bad we’re such a small group these days as I wonder if a BBCAN style social media campaign would be enough to convince them to do it.

Angus Ross said he would be watching the success of the UK revival. That’s what makes me think there is still a (albeit small) possibility that they might give it a crack. At the end of the day, fans can wish for whatever they want, I truly get that. I’m just not as optimistic that 10 would want to try. I fear the expense would be too risky for them.

Time will tell.

The first revived season of BBUK is done and dusted and still no word from Seven and with the ratings as poor as they have been for the current series I’d say they’re over it.

As for Ten they may be strapped for cash but losing some of their other ten pole reality shows would definitely free up some cash… I’d also say that you have to spend money to make money. The fact that they’re in the position they find themselves in means the hunger is there to ensure they get it right.

you guys have been going on for a decade about how ten could bring big brother back, but they never have, i am sure they dont have the money for it.

Yeah it’s possible at Ten, I just wouldn’t hold my breath for that. I’m just not totally ruling it out. They wouldn’t want to announce a different format before the finale tonight. Angus Ross’ comments have given me reason to think it’s still possible, but of course every Australian FTA makes baffling decisions all the time. At the end of the day, we have no idea what’s going to happen.

Well Channel 7 have another 'good for a poll' question for straight after the finale, running a repeat of 'Ed Sheeran Vs Adele' LOL
