BBAU Rewatch

Watching 2004 Uncut #1, first topic of discussion is Krystal explaining breast implants, Bree is with some of the girls across from the table and comes out with 'Oh I would'nt care if had em, I'd just go 'look at moiye... I got tittays' (makes some exaggerated hand gestures). LOL its funny in hindsight because wasn't there a whole thing on the Podcast about her getting those 'Chicken Fillet' bra filler things or marketing them or something later on?

I never understood why both David and Greg were allowed to compete in Friday Night Live each week. If they were one housemate, only one of them should have been playing each week.
They alternated who played each week, as far as I remember?

My love of Big Brother has always come down to the fact that my mum loved it. My entire early childhood I remember her always talking Big Brother and hearing names like Sara-Marie, Jess & Marty, Reggie and Fitzy. Her love for the show has conditioned me to always think of the show as such a huge thing. My parents divorced when Nine brought back the show and I have never seen her so happy or excited for something before. Me her and my sister spent weeks watching clips online and looking at photos of us visiting the house in preparation for the revival. It's a period of time I will always hold dearly as a loved memory. My mum would have no idea how to navigate an Internet forum lol, I should try to convince her as she has a lot to say about how horrible the show has become. I think we may have the interview with Fitzy on file somewhere, I should definitely look into finding it.
We've talked privately about this but thought I'd take this opportunity to talk publicly since you've brought this up... I'll never forget some the first times you'd told me about your family's relationship with BB... It's just so sweet, wholesome, and loving, I can't help but smile. That said my heart sank a little knowing that I've made some comments in the past that were pretty insensitive and dismissive towards how you feel about the show etc. and for that I'm sorry. Being annoyed and challenging someone are one thing. Name calling, insulting intelligence, and even worse telling people to harm themselves just because you don't like what they have to say is another. I’m shocked some of you kids from that time weren’t scared for life or worse because of me.

I hope @Zcsund1234 ran with my tip to read the WP S4 thread whilst rewatching.

Amazing that Southern Star Endemol managed to get BBBA shut down by their hosts back then.

Haven’t watched much while I’ve been away. Only up to igor’s eviction. I’ve started reading some of it but I’ll take your advice and look at it more throughout my watch.

Good on Tim and the host company for standing their ground. I think what's even more shocking is that anyone found/known to be a member here was banned from being a part of the show. I remember someone in 2012 had posted about being booted out of auditions and was called out for being a member here.

Tim had to scramble to find a new host that time (2004), judging by his posts in the WP thread. The existing host had caved to SSE's demands which is why the site suddenly disappeared without warning in the lead up to S4.

That story sounds vaguely familiar - from memory they did it quite brutally too. I remember reading something about someone turning up for their audition, but the got taken into some other room and shown a bunch of printouts from site and was asked if that was them, when they said yes they were asked to leave. Maybe I'm mixing two stories together because I feel like this also happened to someone in 2013 as well.

From memory, the forum member in question had been quite open about the fact they were auditioning, where they were auditioning, etc.
You sign an NDA when you sign up to the show, basically saying you wouldn't talk about the audition process.

They didnt automatically disqualify any forum members. I made it pretty far in casting under the same producers and was an active poster here at the time. I just didn't talk about the audition process.

I want a world where mr Mac was on BB. Problem is we probably would never have known it was you 🤣

With the personalities that got picked that year (several of whom I met in casting), I would've had an awful time. I immediately clashed heavily with someone who made the finals that year just from a difference of perspective/interests (I also want to say our emotional and general intelligence were at very different levels at that stage too), and there were a couple of others picked who I felt were just waaaay too high energy for me to stand being around for more than a day.

Talking about wanting to audition and revealing secrets are two very different things. IIRC the member wasn’t even given a chance simply because production could trace him to BBBA.

Well I'll have plenty of time to finish 04. Got from Gold Coast and friends tested positive so now I'm a close contact. FML.
Oh that sucks. Hope you and your friends are all ok.

If you can get an antigen test, it's more accurate for Omicron if you swab your throat first, then your nose. Just don't eat/drink for 30 minutes first as mouth acid can cause a false positive.

Best of luck.

Did a rapid yesterday and today, both negative. Going for my PCR tomorrow, the public holidays are making it impossible to get tested right now. Just sat in bed isolating watching Big Brother. I'm not really complaining right now.

Haha well I guess you'll get an uninterrupted run for a while then. Hope you feel better soon. Reason I mentioned the throat swab was it's apparently more likely to detect Omicron than a nasal-only test, i.e test negative from nasal then positive from throat. Anyway good luck with the PCR, hope you get the all-clear.

Watched 2004 Day 24 Daily Show, They had a halfway house style thing for the task, Krystal and Bree having a divide with Terri and stuff.

Also watched 2005 Uncut #11 (the finale for that year). Kinda like a best of, and several digs at all the media attention that year on Uncut.

The classic Vesna ‘Burger’ and ‘Snatch’ moments, to Hotdogs showing his boil on his bum to everybody (and having an audience in the lounge when Vesna attempts to pop it - seriously - get some proper medical attention). Also the infamous ‘Reverse Kanga’ wars.

Kinda funny how Dean is so put off by Vesna loudly talking about yeast smelling in the nether region whilst plucking her burger on the bed next to him, yet pulls sh!t (literally) like the kanga episodes. Didn’t Christie have some skeezy habits too from memory?

Also I’m not sure if but feels like 2005 in hindsight was one of the most Blokey with the guys group. Tim was pretty much the only one with an obvious physical point of difference, personality wise as well he came across more you could say ‘Intellectual’ but held his own during all that more ‘boys club’ stuff that was going on.

Heath was literally the only male intruder that year and he fit right in with the likes of Glenn, etc. I wonder how things would’ve gone if they threw someone like Zach or Merlin in that year to mix it up a bit. Or provide another POV of counter to some of the discussions.

Tim is mates with the Chaser guys. He actually went in with a strategy to kind of transform from a scrawny dork by befriending the alpha types and working out etc. But yeah, that season was absolutely the most bogan/blokey of all. Having two Logans didn't help. Ugh.
