BBAU 2025 outdoor live show set discussion

1000055599.jpgIt is hard to tell if that is the actual stage or the Fan Pit. If it's the actual stage, perhaps housemates come from the left of the picture and the audience are split up the middle so there's a walk way to those stairs to greet Mel, as it wouldn't make sense for them to come in through the eye, just to go back out again... but maybe that's how they'll do it.

Or... that is the Fan Pit, and that is where the audience get to see housemates as they go in, and come out for evictions, as I can't imagine you'd need (I assume 2) big monitors either side of that eye, to see what's going on... from several metres away. They used to have several normal sized monitors showing the broadcast feed at the auditorium.

(I'm no expert) But I'm also thinking, from a studio camera perspective, the big monitors are positioned a little high (and Mel is quite short) If they wanted to show any graphics with Mel in shot, it could be done from either a crane or a static cam on the ground angled up, but it just doesn't make a lot of sense to me 😂

At this point I'm sick of speculating and arguing with myself about what that set could be 😂 I just want Saturday to come ASAP so I can see it in the flesh.

That eye looks to be the main stage (the scaffolding would be camera towers for the live shows). So I'd assume the area behind the stage up to the house is the fan pit. Those long white/silver bench-like things might be assembled as a runway to bridge the house and the stage?

These sets always play much bigger on camera (the OG auditorium was never as big as it feels on TV), and we're looking at it now from bad angles while it's unfinished.

You're right, they wouldn't. With little to go on, I think it makes most sense they'll walk up the stairs then "enter the house" via the eye.

I mean, I dunno... the set really isn't too dissimilar to BBUK.

There's also no sighting of any other big screens, so far, in a relative outdoor area. This area does match the description of the Fan Pit, as described on the Dreamworld site. @imsocold, I wouldn't be surprised if the entirety of Launch is filmed from here (makes sense for many reasons) but I do suspect there's still a separate Live Stage for Nominations/Evictions that we haven't yet seen, which may even make its debut on Monday. Obviously could be wrong, and happy to be - the only thing we can do for now is theorise (;)) - but I'm not yet sold that this is the main stage. The most obvious sign is no shelter from bad weather for interviews, etc... I know the ticketing website mentions outdoors but I'll be shocked if there isn't an undercover studio space as well.

Especially in STORM SEASON 😂 like you're playing with fire here BB haha

I honestly just think the eye is actually the main stage and the space behind the stage between the eye and the house is the fan pit.

There is no where else it could be based on the ticket T&Cs all saying it is standing only and filmed outside.

It is very UK based, which is no surprise, albeit it, from drone footage looks smaller, but can always make it look larger through the magic of TV. I guess this also makes it look fuller from a crowd POV, if ticket sales start to drop off (UK audiences have been very small this season and it is noticeable and lacks atmosphere).

My only concern (storm season aside), is eviction interviews. I’m guessing a one chair each on the stage and that is. I do have full faith - and maybe im naive - that at night, with lights etc, it will look much better than the drone overhead we have now.

As per @the Theorist ‘s request - here is my take on the stage area we’ve seen.

I honestly think this is it. Although, yes, we have seen stages that have been purpose-built just for launch night, those days have truly passed us. It’s financially nonsensical for them to build 2 different stages just for one of them to be decommissioned after just one live show, 10 simply can’t afford to throw cash around like that anymore.

It will look a lot better just after sunset with a bit of depth in lighting to the area. It’s important to remember that these photos of the stage are taken during daylight, however the stage will likely only ever be used at night time where the lighting design and camera angles will bring it to life.

I think the “fan pit” is going to be an area of around 50 people standing, lined up against some kind of barricade bordering the ~10 metre long pathway between the house and stage, where the Burger Bar is.

I don’t think the archways in the stage structure will be used as a ‘revolve’ effect like in BB08, I think it’s just to tie the house design in with the stage design. 10 is emphasising the memo for this season is to modernise the nostalgic DNA of the original era - I can already picture the housemates walking through the eye on Launch Night, with Steadicam Steve meeting them on the other side in the fan-pit, filming their very raw final moments of the outside world, entering the new BB House.

The stage is a bit cute, I’ll give it that. It looks like a BB x Polly Pocket collaboration toy, so teeny tiny it’s hard not to call it cute!!

Oh I don’t think anyone was implying that it wouldn’t be used after Launch. Just that this stage might be used exactly like the outdoor stage is utilised on BBUK (Launch night, most of the hosts’ address to viewers throughout the season, meeting evictees), with the rest of the action happening elsewhere (also like BBUK). But yes, that area is definitely going to look a lot more schmick on-screen and at night.

I just don’t see how they plan to facilitate interviews and unpredictable weather in the vicinity of what we’re seeing. I’m still convinced there’s an indoor studio, which is potentially what the Live Stage tickets are for. Even if the plan is to mostly be outside, it would be ludicrous to not have a contingency.

I remember in the original BBUK C4 run, Davina would do the eviction interviews from a different set on a sound stage and it actually worked quite well tbh, iirc there are I think 3 or 4 disused buildings surrounding the stage area which could definitely be used for eviction interviews.

I’m more concerned that they possibly haven’t even taken the consequences of an outdoor set into consideration when planning the series out. There’s something off about this house and set build and I speculate it stems from an original plan for a house possibly falling through and then scrambling to pivot towards a house built in the exhibition centre and whatever space they could use for a stage instead.

Hmm. Like, yeah, maybe.

But as someone who works in an industry where forward planning is an essential key to builds and projects like this, I can almost guarantee no stone is left unturned. The logistics, detail and forethought involved in planning such a thing is pretty critical. They’ve obviously considered the weather. It would be naive to think otherwise. We have to give them some credit.

I’m not trying to oversimplify a multi-million dollar production by any means don’t get me wrong, I just have low expectations for Network 10 in general..

Just checked Saturday's weather for Coomera - chance of rain between 6-9pm, Mel Tracina might have the 2003 experience on her first launch night.. talk about nostalgic!

This is a good point. The first eviction in the UK this year had to move into the Late and Live studio from the outage stage due to storms. So would be weird to have nothing as a back up during storm season

This is looking like a much better weather outcome

Tickets say 4:30 entry, so unless they plan to record from 6pm, the set will still be quite sun drenched until then. I'm worried a lot of the people tuning in are expecting to see the amphitheatre, but then again people are still asking on the BB Insta if Mike G is returning.... on videos that clearly feature him... like really? 💀

More pictures, I don't mind the look of the stage here

The stage does look better at night, I'll admit. I'm curious about evictions and such - it's gonna be tight on that stage with a couch.

Also looks like this is gonna be the main stage. The fan pit must be in the DMZ between the set and the house. Evictions will be interesting - the hm's won't be allowed outside due to crowd and the volume on the speakers.
