BBAU 2025 house at Dreamworld Exhibition Centre

I wonder how sound proof the diary room actually was given the entire set was constructed with ply wood.

Unfortunately Alana didn’t acknowledge my comments in her latest livestream she was more interested in talking about bullying.

I'm no expert in building, but surely a purpose built house would be more logical both practically and financially. Given the success of this season, sponsors shouldn't be too hard to source. I understand the original house was renovated each season, but pulling this one apart and putting it back together, especially if they were looking at doing 2 seasons in one year (unless back to back) just seems very costly. Plus having a purpose built house means DW can cater to fans during the off-season with tours and private functions.

I've said this before, but utilising the Exhibition Centre solely for the live shows would make more sense, too. Much easier building and removing a small set for the live shows than an entire house.

But like I said, I'm no expert in building 🙃

Temporary soundstages are a thing and something that I’m shocked they didn’t explore. It’s also not as if Dreamworld don’t have the space.

I'm sure Dreamworld have plans for any lots that are currently sitting idle, it just takes them years to survey, plan, commission, get approvals, etc. I know the northern aspects of the park (including the old BB auditorium) are being fast-tracked through development as a tourism precinct, which they want to try and complete before the Olympics.

I imagine they'd want a long term commitment from Ten to do anything that's somewhat permanent/requires heavy planning and capex. Dreamworld posted their largest visitor numbers on record for H1 (Jul-Dec) so it's not like they're starving for the revenue.

Key word in my last post was TEMPORARY. I have no idea how that turned in to “somewhat permanent”. A temporary soundstage could technically be taken down and reconstructed when needed.

Even temporary, it could interfere with planning for long term use. It's not necessarily as simple as nabbing a plot of dirt. There's also the shared economics to negotiate.

Like I said, I'm sure Dreamworld are open to working with them but I would hazard a guess that Ten are pretty non-committal about anything that requires spend.

I’m not saying using that land is as simple as plopping something down there but it’s definitely not going to interfere with future development. Especially if it’s being only being used temporarily.

If that were the case Nine would never have gotten permission to use to continue using the old house. The development plans for that plot predates any talk of the Nine era series. IIRC Dreamworld sold off the land to developers in late 2009 or 2010.

Also consider the patch of dirt I’m suggesting they use is a disused parking lot next to the Exhibition Centre. While redevelopment plans involve the entire park and excess land Dreamworld held on to the development they’re pushing for is on the opposite side of the park.

Not to mention that Dreamworld are said to be interested in attracting more event TV productions to the park so while 10 may still be on the fence regarding BB the suggested space is perfectly positioned for the type of investment they’re going to need to make in order for that to happen.
