BBAU 2025 house at Dreamworld Exhibition Centre

The former parking lot beside the Exhibition Centre is the perfect place to expand going forward with a semi permanent/modular soundstage. No idea how accurate this is (perhaps someone like @matts bb can chimes in) but I ran this through ChatGPT and the cost estimate it came up with is about $3.5 - $4 million which no doubt would at least be partially shared with Dreamworld.
If it does well enough, make a bigger stage, keep most of the tickets free but sell 50 or so "Superfan" tickets. There are surely ways to subsidise it, within a theme park. 🤔 If it was, like you say, more permanent, it'd also be easier to open it up for tours and photos and stuff in the off-season like they used to... I know it's not exactly Disney but I assume they still put some effort into their "sight lines" and wouldn't want people seeing the backs of the ugly TV flats. 😬

Have they never heard of texture? That's the difference between it looking like a set and a house.
Yeah, that's 100% the biggest problem. They've tried to make the ITV bedroom (for example), but that had:

tumblr_3bfa7e7883fe72678370472fe53b0ce4_b652a518_1280.jpg
  • Brick effect on walls (three kinds, some painted)
  • Wall sconces
  • Floor patterns
  • Ceiling lights (two kinds)
  • Planters
  • Cushiony fabric panels on the wall
Meanwhile BBAU has:

  • Wall
  • Paint
  • Bed
  • Circle
They've kinda tried with the headboards but it's obvious they couldn't really afford to. 😅

ETA: @Fenix said, it's like they ordered the BBUK House off of Temu 😅

Don’t hate the stage actually. The BB eye looks great there.

The house looks like a cheap set. The wall mounted Panasonic cameras don’t do anything for me either.

The bedroom could’ve been a lot more simpler and still sold “Big Brother house.”

Universe: this will be a great season despite the lack of effort we’ve seen so far.

I'm guessing this is quite a big website, to have interviewed Mel and the new EP. How have they managed to take such ugly photos AND compress them to fuck? 😭 The ones I upscaled from the Instagram videos look shit, but somehow not this shit.

Tbh it's probably about time for Channel 10/BBAU to start taking proper press shots and working with fansites like BBUK does – I've been trying for months to convince them but all I got is an email from some Channel 10 dude saying he'd forward it on to Paramount for me. 🤷‍♂️ There are people trying to promote your show for free, stop making it difficult for them! 😅

But the no roof thing? Did they run out of time and money? Did they learn nothing from 7?

I feel like that might be another thing that was re-affirmed by the Dutch-Belgian version. Their house is not in a studio, the shed was purpose-built for the version. Yet, inside it looks a bit like it's just inside a soundstage:

I do think that this construction was a bit of the inspiration for BB Australia. Just like the new Australian house, it's only the main living area (and the arena) that use these rigs. The other rooms have regular flat ceilings.

(Also, this photo is a good example for the arches that NLBE took from Seven's version, then ITV took from the NLBE version and Australia now've taken from ITV. If you look closely, you also see the LED strips and lights)

Another reason why I think that was somewhat of an inspiration for Australia is that they also use these balloon lights in their house.

And lastly, the Netherlands have already exported this type of construction to other countries as well. Here's the South African Big Brother house (decorated for the African version of Secret Story), where you can also see the mix of flat ceilings and some excessive wooden construction. Unlike the NLBE house, the South African one is soundstage though.

This one is giving me massive Secret Story vibes, even more so than the diary room.

Their doors are LED screens though, so the eye is moving in the background and they can display other content as well (or just the clouds, when the doors move).

Look, I know countries borrow from other countries. This is not BB NL. The designs and colour schemes don’t need to be copies. Now BBNL BBUK and BBAU are basically the same house, bar a few subtle differences. Where’s the originality? Even the fridge looks fully stocked. Will they even have to work for food?

If what you’re saying is true the NL version was built in its own facility. The roof thing isn’t an issue there. They at least appear to be joined with what roof there is. What Australia has done they’ll be able to hear the crew on the other side of the plywood walls. I would expect an echo too with the bare metal ceilings being exposed and that high. But I don’t doubt this stuff has been considered.

This house is a temu house, or ITV Lite. There’s just so many other directions they could’ve gone in. Again, my expectations must’ve been set high. After 12 months of speculation I’ll be the first to admit I’m disappointed with what we’re seeing. Let’s pray they get the general production value right.

This is their product for their first re-attempt at the show. I think this is the theme, so to speak, we're going to get moving forward.
Maybe but look at the original run… Which went from pretty basic in the first few series to a complete revamp for the third and then it continued from there. I haven’t had the best track record at making predictions but I’m not certain they’ve completely locked in on anything moving forward. I’m sure they have ideas of what they’d like to see but I do get the impression those ideas can and will change based on how this series is received. That said I’d hoped ITV would do the same so who knows 💁🏼‍♂️

To give credit where credit is due, 10 seem to be interested in what viewers want. How and if that’s implemented remains to be seen.

ITV threw stuff against a wall to see what sticks in their first series and they haven’t shifted from that.

This doesn’t look bad at all and given that this was purpose built the exposed trusses were a conscious design choice. It looks complete albeit maybe a little too industrial.

The BBAU house on the other hand just looks cheap, unfinished, and sloppy. Like the house was thrown together so they’d at have something workable on show day. One can only hope at some point they realize what they have isn’t going to cut it.

Yeah, fully agree and didn't want to say that they look equally good (or bad, not a fan of the NLBE look either, even though it is not as bad as the BBAU one). But I think the NLBE construction was the vibe they were going for and I assume that they consider it similar enough to get away with it.

I want to love the BBAU house, but it’s so hard when you see this and the “shed” is basically a like for like.

Just even having larger rugs and coffee tables makes it feel more grand.

I think the BBAU house is missing warmth. But as I always say, happy to be proved wrong once I see it on the tv…
The cheapness of this house does in a way feel back to basics. The original house may have been purpose built but the overall design and decor wasn’t anything special.

The difference is that the Dutch house looks good. A major problem is they went for the colourful ITV house but for some reason didnt fully commit and made it a weird blur of pastel colours that don’t give off the same vibrancy and busyness that either the Dutch or UK house does. It’s a small house yet still looks empty and unimpressive, which is a shame cause the Dutch revival was on a budget as well yet they produced a much better house with just design choices

I’ve been agreeing with almost all the moves ten have done so far. The house and eviction area though are just flat out bad.
