BBAU 2025: Casting open, return to Dreamworld Confirmed

What we really need is something to go wrong which forces them to push it back to 2026 where hopefully they'd get a longer broadcast slot. At the moment neither a November air-date or a 4 week series window feels like it's giving the show it's best chance.
Agree, I’d actually rather wait till next year for a 12 week season. 4 weeks just isn’t long enough tbh, things would happen so quick it would be hard to keep up.

Mike Goldman also does some of the Coles instore ads I've heard while I've been in there recently. LOL He's also done Amart and stuff hasn't he (or if not its someone that sounds extremely similar).

I'm with you on that one. I also believe what made BB a success was the time of year it was screened—during the colder months in the Southern Hemisphere. If they could start it in April that would be perfect (and it would be keeping in line with tradition).

I feel they might go down the UK route - A month max?
I think the way they could do that is if its a 5-6 week season (the last 2 BBUK's have been 6 weeks each and they're adding a 7th week for upcoming BBUK22) that starts as early as possible once November starts and finishes 2 weeks into December like the week before Christmas (which is a Thursday this year).

They'd have to copy the multiple finalists on Finale Night route though as well depending on if they insist on overstuffing the house at the start with too many housemates for the expected length, Unless they do like a Finale week full of evictions to get to a final 2/3. and extending into December lends more into the 'Summer' tag I suppose a bit more as well.

Does anyone know how public voting will work? Vote to evict, vote to keep, or both?

Vote to evict - least hated HM wins
Vote to keep - most loved HM wins

Trust me, there is a difference.
Perhaps being the original crew, I'd say they'd stick to "vote to evict" only. But wouldn't mind either way.

Yeah the promise of a return to old school BB would suggest Vote to Evict, but I hope they have Vote to Save as well.
Brining back both wouldn’t necessarily fall outside of that “old school” BB box. They are leaning more towards 2001/2002 as inspiration but I argue if it was done in the original 10 run it’s not necessarily off the table.

We all can’t agree on what “old school” really means so if it works within the context of what they have planned I don’t see anything wrong with a mix of the different flavours.

Except for whatever that hot mess was in 2008. I’d try and tread carefully around that. Casting is probably the only areas I’d look at and try and adapt that angle.

What year did it deviate away from the original format and was a little too "scripted" so to speak was it when Peter Abbott left? I didn't see much of the 04 season, but that's when Kris took the reigns, or was it more 05 it started to go a bit off the rails?

Obviously it was still BB, but it wasn't by any means the 7 version 😂

I suggest that because Vote to Save only (which I'd honestly prefer) might seem odd while they're pushing the back to basics narrative.

I think season 5 was when it really became stunt-based storytelling with their "sexy, single, competitive" angle and twists.. be it the eviction of the housemates that were not single, the twin twist, the fines, Friday Night Live.

You might argue that season 4 had some elements where they were aiming for a set or almost set storyline (Miriam's visit, the whole Secret's Out episode).. but none to the extend that we've seen a year afterwards.

I wonder how BBAU would have looked like with Peter Abbott still on board and how much it would have adapted to international trends. "Evil" Big Brother wasn't invented by Kris Noble. Competitions weren't invented by Kris Noble. And secret missions haven't been invented by him either.

2004 was the last year before it went off the rails. Either Kris Noble was still finding his feet in the role or a lot of stuff had already been sorted before he got the job that while there were some hints of what was to come (see kamui's post above), it was still mostly classic BB.

While it was a few years later when Virginia Hodgson pulled the trigger to shoot the show in the face, Kris Noble definitely loaded the gun and was the one to aim it at the face.

Just saw The Amazing Race promo, and hearing Gretel say "It's time to go..." really is iconic.

I vaguely remember when Sonia did it at one point, and it was something like: "The housemate who has the least amount of votes to save, and will therefore be going home tonight... is..." 😅

I have Kodi on my Android box and one of my apps give me access to Samsung TV + and Pluto TV with hundreds of FAST channels. On one of them (can't remember which) it has channels for BBUS: a split screen four-camera feed and four individual feeds. I wonder if we'll get this from Channel 10. I hope they don't paywall it because free FAST streams that are easily accessible like this would be great. I'd leave it running on my TV all day.

I think that's exactly what they'll do. I hope they don't put ads on it, though.

The problem for me is 10play is pretty well geoblocked but I've had a couple of tips on VPNs I'll check out closer to launch. None of the ones I've used previously have ever worked for 10, and I tried five or six of the big ones over the years.
