how do we normally find out when it starts. do we just wait from news from BB or does someone come here before that with a leak that is reliable?
 
so do they always block out the aerial view on google maps of the area leading up to the show?
 
So, it looks certain that big brother will be starting in august! But the question is , when? My best bet would be the 13th. But i think is could be later. Even into september. The block goes for 9 weeks, 2 months 1 week aprox. If the block started today it would end aprox august 7th. But no promos have aired, and usually shows are at least 3 weeks after promos start. But that's is at the earliest. Big brother is most likely to start between August 25th and september 10th! *cries uncontrollably* But maybe nine will start big brother during the end of the block at 8.30-9.30 week nights. Fingers crossed. That would be a dream. But i think we can rule out a July start.
 
Let's say they run Big Brother right up until the final week of ratings. If the finale is a Wednesday that would make it 26th November which is the Wednesday of the last week of ratings in 2014 according to OzTam.

If the series is going to be around the 100-ish days mark it would need to start 18th/19th August

If it's going to be like 2012 and be an 85-ish days series the it would need to start 1-2 September.

Surely they wouldn't make it less than 85ish days... Or even run it after the rating season finishes?!?!

For Big Brother to start week of 18th/19th August with the Block finale being on 17th/18th August, the Block would need to start tomorrow. So unless I'm wrong, 2014 is looking certain to be a shorter season. (Without the option of extending it as they did last year unless they were willing to run it into the summer non-ratings period).

For it to be an 85ish day series starting on 1st / 2nd September the Block would need to start in 2 weeks. (15th June). This seems unlikely with basically no promo as yet.

Hmmm.... What's going on Nine?????


ETA: the above presumes that The Block is an 11 week series as it was in 2012 and Sky High in 2013. Maybe they will cut the block down to 10 weeks as it was in 2011. In that case the block could start in 3 weeks time and still fit in an 85day BB season.
 
I think you are reading into it a bit to much..
I'm sure.. as they have previously done with many of their shows.. They could always have a crossover between 2 shows..running over 2 -3 weeks..
sharing day's together. Nine is all about cross promotion.. I can't see why they can't have an overlap of say, the block..with Big Brother daily shows either before or after the block each night.. and then they just juggle in the specials, launches and finale.
I'm sure they did that ^ with AGT and Big Brother last year?
 
Nine really needs to get its stuff together. If there is no sign of any Block advertising within 3-4 weeks i will stick to my original estimate, either the block will be held until next year or big brother will. Or like i said have big brother at 8.30pm until the block ends.

They did but AGT was only a Sunday night show. The Block + Big Brother are too many hours to be on at the same time. The Voice could overlap with either BB or The Block. It overlapped with the Block last year. The Voice Kids will have to overlap

UNLESS they move BB to a later timeslot. That would be a dream come true for many older fans but would be an odd move after all their talk of having a family friendly show. It's possible I guess, I just think that's unlikely.

More probable that the Block will be 10 weeks instead of 11 and BB may even be less than 85days.

Or yeah. Big Brother gets held over for 2015 season.

I don't think Block will be held over. Filming is done I think and they are already auditioning for the 2015 season.

Here's an idea... The block and big brother run along side for a while? Why has that been completely ruled out? I think a late July start is still posible. Seeing as agt and bb ran alongside we can't rule late July / early August.does any body know how much earlier they usually announce the launch before the series actually starts. I think a September or late august start can be 99% ruled out.
 
Because both BB and The Block run like 5 nights a week. Also each show has that once a week big episode in Room reveal with The Block and evictions with BB. Unless BB runs at a later time say 8:30 ( really 8:47 or some bullshit like that) as suggested by somebody above I do not see how they can both run together.
