BB/CBB UK - Rewatch discussions

Finished CBB3!
  • That breakfast in bed prank by BB was pretty harsh, I woulda been pissed off too for a moment.
  • Bez won 10k in the sticky money task then answering the question about Vietnamese Dong right.
  • Double Eviction, Caprice and Jeremy! Jeremy's wiki is one placement off because I happened to read they had him as 3rd when I looked him up back when he was a guest on BBLB in BB3 or BB4. Bit of a tense moment going over how he's been percived with the pranks and towards Jackie.
  • Fun Brigitte kinda came back a bit more in the last days, her friendship with Bez was nice.
  • EFourum had a little 'Quiz' episode. Vanessa Feltz has been on a lot this season. BBLB had a pre-finale wrap with the ex-hms.
  • Finale: Germaine made it back for a contactual appearance, Brigitte's interview was fun, Kenzie a little emotional. And then Bez is the winner. They also had the stage on the opposite end, and a bit more decked out to resemble the indoor Eviction/BBLB studio.
  • BB6 auditions ran from Feb to early March 2005.

Some overall thoughts about the season:
  • The length was pretty good, they found a good rhythm, also the casting helped there were several quirky dynamics and characters, upping it from only 6 housemates.
  • Also adding BBLB and EFourum gave it a bit more background than before

    Housemate Wrap ups:
  • Germaine: She was good, but I think she just realised when she had enough and it wasnt her cup of tea anymore. I thought she mightve clashed with John more, but they had somewhat of a respect for each other. Funnily enough the subject of Anal and Cleavage sex only turned up in the truth or dare with Caprice after she had left. LOL.
  • Jackie: "Yeah, It's Jackie" and "Kiss My Ass" were definitely memorable quotes from her as Dermot often reminded us of with those button things on BBLB. She didnt know what was going on half the time, but as she said on BBLB she had gotten to watch it a bit more outside the house. It would've been interesting to see if she hadnt been up pretty much by default of Germaine walking, whether that would've had a knock on effect even to the point of perhaps Bez being booted in the second eviction.
  • John: "How DARE You!" He was great entertainment value too. I think it helped that his brand of sexist attitudes often didn't come across perhaps as much in a truly harsh offensive way (although it went on that borderline a number of times) and also it couldve been the time period compared to now a little as well. I read that he went on to put up an unsuccessful case for unfair dismissal and ageism against Channel 4 in the early 2010's.
  • Lisa: I said before I didnt mind her and thought she was often one of the most centred and level headed in the house (apart from the morning he lost patience with John). I would've liked to see her win.
  • Caprice: She kindof blended in somewhere in the middle there when Jackie/Germaine/John were eating up the scenery, until she got that secret task. She kindof had an introspective moment there. I read that she had a few more appearances on BBLB so we'll see more of her.
  • Jeremy: I think some of his game playing and prankster activity ended up not coming off the best for his image. He had a good team up with Kenzie and Bez to an extent.
  • Brigitte: Jackie's entrance took the wind out of her sails a bit I think but ultimately they got along and cleared the air (Everyone on the supplement shows couldnt stop going on about 'how well she handled it') She got a bit of her pizazz back towards the end. She also had a few nice moments with Bez. She married that boyfriend and is still married with a daughter to him I read. Also appeared on several other Reality shows.
  • Kenzie: again everyone couldn't talk enough about how well mannered Kenzie was. He had a bit of an image complex (the egg stuff, being seen as sappy for when Jeremy left). I also see that he appeared on some more TV shows. Blazin Squad didnt go too much further, He was also on The Big Reunion in the early 2010's.
  • Bez: He was wacky, He did have that rough patch in the middle there, but turned it back around and won the publics favour. In the aftermath though The prize money bailed him out of tax debt, but not for long. He also decked out his car with multiple DVD players and screens on UK Pimp My Ride, and has appeared on some more recent reality shows.

So thats CBB3! Onto BBUK6 now. I see theres a couple of 'Most Outragous/Best Moments Series 1-5' Specials at the start here, may take a skim, then get into BB6. :)

Started BBUK6 (2005)!

Launch Night thoughts:
  • The stairs are back, although you can still tell areas of basic structure carried over from BB5's house, bit more spacious and not as cramped though.
  • The bedroom has moved right up into the space BB5's bedsit and Diary room was with a massive glass wall. It reminds me a little of the bedroom Australia later had in BB2007, with the partition directly into the Rewards room. The Lounge is its own enclosed cube area outside and the Showers are outdoors under the alcove. I think the toilet off the bedroom might be right about where BB5's Bedsit toilet was.
  • Theres a 'plunge pool' area and theyve introduced a loft/treehouse hideaway with a 'naughty step'.
  • The Kitchen is a bit more opened up with two Islands, The dining room table is see-through perspex style, and the Diary room has moved across to the far wall with a semi circle style Diary room chair.
  • I do vaguely recall knowing about some basic points of this season (such as Makosi and the 13th housemate thing being some sort of secret mission twist at the start) but largely fuzzy so this will be interesting.
  • I was already getting the vibe with a lot of this season's housemates that weve got a bit of an opinionated bunch, but we shall see how much of that comes out in the course of the game. Craig seems like he's gonna clash with any and everybody on a whole range of subjects, Derek could have some big political arguments/discussions, etc. Maxwell seems pretty chill.
  • Some first impressions are blurring a bit like Lesley, Sam and Saskia seem similar in some ways but im sure we'll get to know them better as it goes.
  • Some big outfit choices were made like last season, This time we got Lesley in a Nurses outfit, and Kamal decked out in a sari and stiletto's. Anthony dressed right up in a suit, while Mary came out in hood and broomstick and had to be rerouted on track by security because she veered hard right straight out of the car. lol. I'm seriously wondering how much of her is put on or if she's all there and what are they thinking putting her in that house. We shall see.
  • Close your eyes and listen to Vanessa's intro package. Sounds a bit like Marco no? Haha.
  • Anthony was getting a bit annoying from the get go just get in the house already mate, you're starting to get booed. Roberto was another one that took his time, hugging the security guy that was trying to hurry him up.
  • Interesting dilemma for Makosi, she is automatically up for the first eviction but must get the most nominations to be immune from public vote (the housemate that does will be safe) BB I think was making it harder there as soon as she left the Diary Room was that BB announcing She had 'won' them a first night party?
  • The intro titles are a bit frantic and the colours scheme is a little bit zebra esque mix of Purple, Green and White this time I think.

    More thoughts later!

Ah, you're on what I consider to be the best series - though people seem to either love or hate BB6. I thought it was the one UK series though other than I guess BB2 which took what they'd done in the previous series and then built on it.

As you're watching BBLB just a quick question - have they started using ex-HMs regularly yet? In the early years other than the winner perhaps appearing on the next series or next celeb series I think they took a concious decision not to have housemates from previous series as guests, but that did change at some point midway through the C4 run, though I'm not sure when. Possibly happened first with E-Fourum/Big Mouth.

Well scratch that, ive now seen day 2 and things are really kicking off already lol, and It's not just Makosi trying to get herself nominated by insisting the bedroom lights be on and taking off Science's Salad cream from the shopping list.

Kamal and Science clashing over the chicken and later again in the lounge area, and Maxwell isnt so chill now, shouting match between him and Makosi over the lights, between the pool and Loft. However later on they appear to be having a chat in the loft on their own and agreeing they just have big personalities or whatever, but then again could it be Maxwell thinking 'shit ive been a bit too loud maybe try and smooth things over lest i cop nominations'.

If I were Makosi Id perhaps be starting to half second guess whether She wasnt the only one given some sort of competing secret task by BB to stir it up. Although as seen on BBLB, she was briefed on it again in the diary room plus she got given a whole keyring of keys to open her suitcase that wasnt opening.

Mary thinking of walking and in particular citing the outdoor showers as something she wasn't happy with 'being an exhibitionist like the others' The others are suggesting making a makeshift cubicle for her (Shes been showering in a full get up) I think BB might concede on that point if thats what it takes for her to stay at least for now (I mean BB3's outdoor shower had a partition). We shall see.

EFourum is ow officially Big Mouth, and both it and BBLB have had a set dressing update. Big Mouth now has the panelists on stools facing the small audience while Russell roams (as he started to do more of second half of Efourum episodes in CBB3). BBLB in the main studio warehouse appears to have opened up a bit more or maybe its just a bit brighter lighting as well, more similar to BB3 and BB4 than BB5/CBB3, I think the surrounds were more darker in those.

They haven't yet, but still early days of the season. CBB3 did have Stuart (BB5) on BBLB (very brief cameo in the last segment) and Victor (BB5) was a panel member on an episode of Efourum.

Thanks - I think it might have been from BB7 onwards. IIRC BB6 still relied quite a bit on family and friends, something sadly missing from later series.

Finished BBUK6 Week 1.
  • This season is a bit spotty on the playlist, several alt links and still a couple missing episodes in the first week I'm having trouble finding alts for whilst avoiding spoilers (or just coming up with results for CBB4 or BB7) but its mostly there and Im able to follow it and I can maybe do more of a catch up search later. One of the only major developments i've only got a general context of so far for example is whatever was going on with Craig getting emotional around Day 6 or Day 7 daily show (which was referenced on BBLB Day 8). The first part of eviction #1 is also missing so I just watched the Day 8 Daily show which covered that part and then the Eviction Interview.
  • all of that aside, theres been so much friction between various people. I think Vanessa is the one definitely flying under the radar so far, and also Anthony and Sam to certain extent. They seem to be a little bit peripheral to a few of Maxwell and Saskia's scenes atm, although there's been a possible love triangle brewing and also Anthony set Derek off into a bit of a tirade about not wanting to hear any more talk about the bloody 'Cherry Aid' Makosi kept wanting anymore.
  • Saskia seems pretty level headed about things like body image when the inevitable conversations about boob jobs and stuff comes up. Maxwell upset Lesley a little bit in the 'rap task' for Mary's Birthday Party or whatever by referring to her's (in an oblivous complimentary way though) and making her feel a little paranoid/insecure against some of the other girls. Mary and Saskia had a heated exchange in the lounge over others perceiving Saskia as being dumb or fake or something along those lines.
  • Makosi and Roberto were also a bit at it in the Kitchen over doing/not doing washing up. they made up though not long after. She did well with her task, even creating a fake task to wash some aprons by 9am to get wine from BB then not doing it (Kemal was let in that it was fake) setting the others in a bit of a stir. Also lying about being a virgin and causing some gossip.
  • Makosi passed her task, She was most nominated in a tie between herself, Sam and Roberto. Twist was she had to nominate the 2 up for eviction. She chose Mary and Craig. Also She was able to discuss her task with the others, but perhaps smartly game plan wise I thought chose to only confide with Kemal for the moment, and later humour Derek thinking he'd worked it out that the Public chose to 'save' Makosi from nomination.
  • Makosi's sister was funny on BBLB, her thinking on Makosi's choices were of the 'top of mind' variety: "oh you know, Virgin Mary... and Craig... Craig David!" lol.
  • Craig also taking a bit of time to compete with other personailities or come out of his shell compared to the typical 'i'm gonna stir it all up' shown in his intro package was discussed also.
  • Some of Derek's profound analysis on the house dynamics have been entertaining. One of the first guests on Big Mouth? Vanessa Feltz is back haha. They also brought back the Nick Carter lookalike guy from UK Queer Eye on BBLB for a virtual computer generated tour (vintage 2005 graphics) of the house layout.
  • They are also holding a 'housemate lookalike' thing on BBLB this time, maybe they'll be this seasons' version of 'Superfans'? I daresay though If they do a photo version segment, someone could send in BB4's Steph as one for Craig or maybe couple pass as a relative of his with some similar features and that short haircut I reckon haha.
  • Also on that note, Mary reminds me a bit of Amy Lee from Evanescence, and Kemal a bit of MIKA before we knew him or the Grace Kelly song, lol.
  • Also warmed a bit to Mary, there were times she came off a bit kooky (like really overexcited at the goth deck out for her birthday and getting her broomstick delivered), and others she was more very well spoken but just perhaps a little awkward but takes some time to gather herself or warm up. She said as much that she was just beginning to find her groove in the house, but then she became the first Evictee, but handled herself well in the interview (Cool indoor set staging this season for that too btw).
  • Also they all stayed in the lounge while Mary walked through the house and out the door (and no suitcases for Davina to say 'leave it there' at the stairs, I think they'd already done away with that in BB5 iirc maybe?) but maybe thats a new thing too, well have to see what happens for Eviction 2.

That will do for some points for now, Onto Week 2!

BBUK6 Week 2 finished (been juggling playing the new Final Fantasy lately among other things, but been getting back more onto this now I'm finished haha).
  • The counting mini task was funny, getting them dressed up silly and BB trying to throw them off the count. Saskia won and got a secret task to become BB, she got to watch a few things in the bedroom toilet with the pull out screen. She also got to choose putting Maxwell in the baby outfit to sit on the naughty step for attempting to burn the football underwear (unbeknownst to him) Saskia chose as a prize for him.
  • Science and Maxwell had a bit of a tiff early in the week, a water bomb fight got a bit out of hand and a bin 'slipped' out of sciece's wet hands and flung towards Max, BB separated them for the night, Anthony was starting to get up in Science's face about it as well.
  • Kamal and Roberto were also at loggerheads in the start of the week, having house meetings and an audience of the rest of the hm's watching them argue. I think Kamal is a little too quick to escalate and could do well to just calm his farm and have a reasoned debate, but I did think Roberto was a bit out of his depth trying to tell Kamal he shouldve come out to his parents. Having his friend on BBLB and also remembering back to his background and intro package you can understand a bit of the regimented order of things he likes it to be in.
  • Later in the week when Vanessa sprained her ankle (after Saskia did hers and got a day trip out of the house, and this wasnt even anything to do with the Nurses/Patients task this week) Sam was telling Roberto not to be so elaborate with his stories about torn ligaments from the sidelines.
  • Sam was also on the outer with the house this week; Craig, Lesley and Vanessa starting to get a bit of a clique going, things kicked off when Lesley hid her makeup bag, then Anthony had a go when Sam took her inflatable leg cast of the task off early. It was discussed on Big Mouth whether she is being hard done by or brings it on herself a little bit.
  • The Hospital task itself although not quite as high stakes as the previous season's Military task (although noms still had a big twist in another way) was entertaining, Craig was 'pregnant', Makosi got an RSI from her erm hand 'actions' with Anthony under the duvet the other night. Roberto was the matron and Sakia, Vanessa and Science were nurses. They ended up failing by going over 3 fails the 3rd day.
  • I recognise Stephen K Amos who guested on Big Mouth, He appeared as panellist on a couple of Australian shows like Good News Week or the comedy festivals a couple years after this. Mary was good value on Big Mouth and BBLB. She even helped co-present the BBLB segment about analysing the housemates drawings of the perfect partner and seemed a bit more adept at presenting than the guest model they had on who was a focus of the episode and didn't seem as good with her words haha. She also did the little pick a key competition segment well.
  • Vanessa is the scapegoat for this week's twist with the nominations by discussing noms with Lesley before they took place. Although theres been rumblings of some others being sneaky such as Derek 'writing letters' on Makosi's feet, Vanessa's gotten the entire 12 of them nominated. Could've made for the most unpredicatble eviction since BB3 having the whole house to choose from and Housemates evict. Sam and Derek (who is starting to also get on a few nerves with the HM's and the public) would've been up otherwise.
  • One of my lines for the season so far and I found pretty funny was the way the Female BB read back Vanessa's words about Sam to her so matter of fact and Vanessa's face ..."you said, 'She's a. 'Conniving Little Bitch, and I'm nominating her today'". LOL.
  • It was Lesley out, and the House walkthrough while everyone stays in the lounge seems to be the format this season. She exited in a stripperesque 'sgt sexy' cop outfit. She herself admitted maybe she went a little harsh on Sam (they did have a little made up during the week).

I think thats a few points for now. Onto Week 3!

Used to love it when Big Brother quoted back things to the housemates. It's like when your teacher starts talking like a normal person!

BBUK6 Week 3 Done:
  • Lesley on BBLB - they showed her the clip of going for a pee in front of everyone while Makosi was cleaning herself up after the fish oil. LOL.
  • Gnome Cam from the corner of the garden as well as Dermot opening BBLB in different languages (with apologies on the captions) hadss been a thing on BBLB this season.
  • The BBLB ‘Song’ was a bit all over the place by that DJ bloke but he got a beat going as it went along. It’s no ‘Don’t You Think That It’s Strange?’ But ‘BB6 in the mix’ was catchy haha.
  • John Mccrirrick back on BBLB Day 18. oh dear first segment and we have him and an audience lady trying to talk over each other lol. the rest of the show is kinda mayhem with him being outrageous lol.
  • They had the ‘last one staying under their cardboard box wins a prize’ mini task for a three course dinner and access to a treats fridge. BB played them the catchy 80’s song ‘Living In A Box’ by Living In A Box as Makosi, Anthony, Derek and Roberto were the last ones. Makosi didnt return after their break given by BB then not even 2 hours later or so BB declares the task over and a tie between the last 3, Thinking it was a test by BB they went on a little longer. BB also gave the winners Cherry Tango which Anthony drank in front of Makosi.
  • Nominations drama again. Anthony’s impression of Sam ‘talking out her ‘a-hole’ by mooning the diary room camera was a bit ok then lol. Derek, Roberto and Craig excluded from nominating because of their conversation about Saskia, which I do see where Craig is coming from got dropped into by association. Then it was played back to the house!
  • Although Saskia did have a point as well it does show Craig up in his capacity for bitching. He’s kindof over the Pirate task now as well as Captain Science (which unbeknownst to them they’ve already fully failed).
  • Science has lost the plot a bit again too - getting all haughty over Anthony not making him a cup of tea then throwing water at Kamal. Also wordy with Makosi in the bedroom and having a go at Vanessa while she was at the table in the kitchen.
  • Derek, Roberto and Sam are up for eviction. They’ve started to be a bit more naughty, while on watch in the loft Roberto and Derek covered the cameras and moved their mics away although you can hear Derek is over being there. Also Anthony let the others ransack the task winners fridge and scoff everything in the lounge before BB demanded he collect everything to be confiscated.
  • Anthony and Maxwell going after Kamal at 4am with the shaving cream and the mop as a prank was a bit ott I thought too, Reminded me of Ray BB4 and taking things a bit far beyond the joke, but to Kamals credit he gave it back to them and got a bit of help from Craig/Saskia I think too.
  • Makosi and Anthony are looking highly likely to get it on at some point unless they’re just shit talking (beyond the handsy she’s already given him lol) they were talking about their type of partner and then Makosi was asking Anthony how he’d like to ‘Find out’ if she was really a virgin in the loft and the conversation was getting a bit spicy. lol.
  • and then BB put on ‘Date Night’ in the loft with some interesting pair ups! Roberto and Kemal, really went for it in character lol, Anthony and Sam had a lap dance, Anthony and Makosi, Maxwell and Saskia, and Sam and Makosi all had pashes, Saskia had Derek Barking like a Dog and later Derek dressed up in drag and went in with Kemal shouting out, lol. Science and Kemal also had a bit of a talk/apology about the water thing.
  • Lesley going for a driving lesson as part of BBLB, There was a daddy long legs in the diary room and Sam had a bit of a screaming moment on the Diary room uncut episode. Lesley was also on Big Mouth and theres been some pretty animated back and forths between some of the audience in her episode about Craig for example.
  • They failed the task with a whopping 28 fails.
  • The 'Mouthpiece' section of Big Mouth is pretty funny, people leaving voicemails, I wonder if thats partly where BBBA podcasts the following year got some inspiration from to add on.
  • It was interesting who would go this week, I’m kinda surprised but not at the same time, it ended up being Sam going, might have been a mix of a lot of the female viewers didnt really like her (some very animated discussions over on Big Mouth) and her ‘Joker smile’, plus compared to Derek and Roberto who started to play things up again and have some real comedic moments as the week went on, may have come off dull in comparison.
  • Or People wanting to keep Derek and Roberto in longer just to get up Saskia and Maxwell’s little clique forming as well. The Percentages will be interesting to see. LOL Davina’s little wardrobe ‘reveal’ for the evictee interview. and the lapdance! this has gotta be in the top bizarre evictee interviews Haha.
  • Ooh the Room 101 task is coming up next week.
That’ll do for week 3, onto Week 4!

BBUK6 Week 4 Done:
  • Bit of a divide starting to form between Makosi, Kemal and Vanessa and the Saskia, Maxwelll, Anthony group. Vanessa overheard Anthony talking about how he might be flirting with Makosi for the cameras. The psychologists also think and it was discussed on Big Mouth whether Saskia’s still stringing along Maxwell/establishing herself as a bit of a Queen Bee of the house, and the psychologists theory is She and Anthony might actually fancy each other. If Maxwell gets evicted before either of them, will there be some cutting the grass perhaps.
  • There was a mini task to get to a barnyard dance party for the afternoon. They had to wear chicken suits and hold a big ostrich or whatever egg. Makosi was the only one who dropped hers and wasn’t allowed to join the party.
  • Science continuing to start up being belligerent this week against Derek and Roberto in particular (although I did think Science had a point over the whiole eating the spaghetti thing in a perhaps undignified but not rude way, Roberto overstepping his place over something trivial again a bit IMO) then having some shouting back and forth’s with Anthony as well. Derek and Roberto up for eviction this week. Derek is a bit over it and wants to go. These two have a bit of a friendship going.
  • Room 101 task, Vanessa originally was Worker 01, but freaked out and noped out of even setting foot in the room to sort the maggots. Maxwell took it on in her place, and the rest successfully passed in making him think they were all doing the task instead of having parties whilst he was in there. Although in some of the analysis on BBLB (Jenny Trent Hughes was back on) maybe he did kinda twig that something was going on. Australia had a kinda reverse of this task with the ‘Ice Room group’ in 2007, gradually adding another housemate to have secret parties whilst the rest did it rough outside.
  • Sam was fun on BBLB - the ‘pick your key’ segement went off on the first go this time, they sent her on helicopter to attend ’T4 On The Beach’ big outdoor concert along with Lesley and Mary, Lesley still taking the mick out of her behind her back. Also her double take to Dermot’s flubbing the first question in the ‘if you laugh, you have to put more clothes on’ segment was funny: ‘Would you rather suck Maxwell… sorry Craig’s TOES…” LOL
  • BBLB also had another person come in to perform their made up BB song, and another choice of 3 housemate lookalike makeovers, I thought they picked the best ‘Makos-A’ last week, this week it was a bit of a toss up between Maxwell B and C iMO, B got it.
  • Vanessa got called in to the diary room. Since she refused to perform the task at the beginning, she will not be allowed to eat any of the luxury shopping budget items lest she puts herself up for eviction next week. She will be given 3 meals a day in the diary room. She tells Makosi and Kemal and Makosi agrees with her suggesting she keep it to herself and say shes not eating a lot to look like she’s not greedy and can restrain herself to get in the others good books. We’ll see how long that lasts.
  • Some more mini secret tasks for extra items, Science slapping everybody on the ass for toilet paper, and Derek getting everyone to kiss him on the head, Science ran to the loft until Saskia cottoned on to what was happening.
  • Big Mouth Russell wants a better name for the ‘Textual Preference’ poll, Some animated opinions on Vanessa, Derek and Roberto.
  • In a very close vote, It’s Roberto out. I’m kinda sorry to see him go, although OTOH he started to mellow out a bit more and Derek was a bit more entertaining as well although clearly being over it and fine to be going. Roberto’s eviction interview was funny as well.
  • BBUK Doing 3 Potential Intruders for the first time since BB2! I vaguely remember reading bits and pieces about this back in 2005. Kinga, Eugene and Orlaith will have to live secretly in the ‘Secret Garden’ room off the diary room and stay undetected whilst having to ‘borrow’ food and items from the housemates. Theres a talking Stag head in the room, and the 3 entered the house dressed in fig leaves.
  • They must’ve had some good separation of soundproofing because while the HM’s were being played crowd noise in the lounge while Kinga and Eugene had a few Squeal moments in the house when they came in.
  • It’ll be really interesting to see if the HM’s just think BB is f-ing with them (the missing fridge items and kettle moved/cup of tea for starters), or they work it out.

That’ll do for week 4, onto Week 5!

I still regard Sam as the dullest housemate to ever step in the house. Can't think of anyone duller internationally either. Literally had nothing interesting about her whilst she was in the house - hence why Davina had to do what she did.

I don't think it's a secret though BB6 is my favourite series - indeed so much so I'd probably be a bit too scared to rewatch it in full if that memory was ever tainted. I've watched bits and pieces though - the twists that year really were next level, with almost every twist having a twist.

Not that I'm a fan of classic TV being written off due to subsequent allegations but the Big Mouth episodes may be seen through different eyes with Russell Brand rumoured to be the comedian at the centre of a "me too" style set of allegations airing tonight on C4 and being published in a Sunday newspaper tomorrow.

I didn't realise he had gone full on right wing conspiracist nutjob in recent years - real shame to see someone who seemed to be above average intelligence sucked in to that nonsense, but now people are seeing it as a calculated move to try and discredit any "mainstream media" and "establishment" accusations which may have been forthcoming.

I think Sam was a housemate who didn’t know at all who she was (I mean, I didn’t really know who I was in my early 20s) but she substituted any kind of personality with bikinis, faux sex chat and pinned all of her hopes on a few lads mags deals post-BB.

Absolutely. It would be quite fascinating to see a series with some of the younger original housemates from a social experiment perspective to see how they've changed over the years.

Yeah I was reading the article this morning, pretty shocking stuff but also not surprising in a way. I think BB7 was the last Big Mouth he did wasnt it from what I've managed to read without series spoilers. Apparently Davina ends up hosting it at one point? (BB9 or BB10?).

And Dermot leaves BBLB at the end of BB8 to do X Factor. I hope theres a send off montage as cringe as he sometimes is Ill miss him when I get up to there.

Yeah her last BBLB segment was what she did during the week, lots of modeling spreads and agent talks, and then Dermot tells her they've t-ed her up with some agency and her eyes lit up. Haha. Would've definitely been a Zoo Weekly covergirl if she had been on BBAU.

Back on BB6, give Makosi an Oscar, she is PLAYING this button press thing and its hilarious. Derek's reaction too. (more thoughts in my next update). 😅

Yes, Russell departs before BB8 (he did Celeb BB5) with Big Mouth having guest hosts for a couple of years before Davina took over. Dermot leaves a year later after hosting Celebrity Hijack. I assume he got some kind of BBLB send off as it was known he was leaving - indeed his replacement George Lamb is a guest at some point and Dermot says he'll probably be back in the summer doing his job.

Ooo we seem to be watching the same series! BBUK6. I've seen most of the newer seasons (last 6-8) so I've jumped back much more in time as sometimes the newer seasons reference past seasons and I don't want spoilers.

I'm only about 3 evictions in though but finding this season really boring. Like a really unlikable or meh cast, no real standouts for me. Even all the tasks are really dull (the pirates task?)

I've been watching on VideoBrother which is hosting all the episodes and side shows in decent quality.

BBUK6 Week 5 Done:
  • The Button press; Makosi played that situation so well. Being on a secret mission to help the Secret Garden 3 get food and clothes and even one morning out for a quick shower. She comes back in crying then walked out to the garden flanked by Kamal and Vanessa in shades past Saskia, Anthony and Maxwell sitting at the table giving them a wtf is that all about look. Derek having a bit of a frazzle over Makosi being a ’Stupid, STUPID woman! whats she done’ was a bit funny as well.
  • Kamal was starting to rethink wether Makosi was being legit and had a bit of a catatonic moment in the bedroom before he got over it.
  • Maxwell got a talking to by BB after he and Saskia were telling Craig about how he might’ve put some of his foot scabs in Science’s food as a prank. Maxwell says he was only joking and didnt actually do it.
  • Then we had Cidergate. At risk of failing her secret mission, Makosi races to the diary room to collect the 10 cans of cider Maxwell asked for, and goes to initially drink 6 of the with the Secret Garden mates, but then a little tipsy decides she’s going to tell them she drank 6 and not bring any of the other 4 cans back at all. This causes a huge fight and Saskia loses her shit at Makosi.
  • Anthony, Maxwell discussing nominations (both times within earshot of Craig, I was thinking get away from them Craig lest you get yourself dragged into it again) See’s them both banned from voting. Makosi passed her task to be immune from nominations/remove herself from being automatically put up good thing after the previous night’s stunt, and It’s Saskia and Maxwell up against each other (theyre predicting it before the nominations are announced even based on Anthony and Maxwell being barred from nominating.
  • Makosi has to choose which of the2 Intruders to bring into the house. I was pretty surprised that Kinga didn’t get in, from what I remember her name was one of the things I remembered about this season, so I thought she was a shoe in. apparently not.
  • She was pretty good value on BBLB and Big Mouth, joining Roberto one ep and again in the Blind Date segment (which also featured Mary, whom Roberto picked to go to dinner with).
  • The woman who was sounding off about how Anthony was the ugliest thing since sliced bread’ on Big Mouth LOL. they had some rowdy ones on again this week. Also Jon Connell was actually in the studio as one of the guests for the first time this season rather than doing his little ‘Connell Files’ segment.
  • The new name for ‘Textual Preference Poll’ was put to a poll and its now ‘Textually Transmitted Disease’.
  • Still on Anthony, He’s now besotted with Orlaith, lots of discussions with her and a couple others about sex etc, They were all copping a feel of her boob job and she was more than happy to answer their questions about if she’s self pleasured whilst in the house yet.
  • Moreover, They were assigned the lead roles in the late in the weekly task this week of a Romeo & Juliet: The Ballet performance (which they pass not before another tirade by Science and Derek squabbling over the Narrator role). It features a big pash and also Anthony tries the exact same ‘are your eyelashes real?’ kiss that he did with Makosi - right in front of the whole house and Makosi right next to whilst they were practicing!
  • Saskia and Maxwell also decide to hell with it and get it on under the doona’s - A LOT. Allll over the house, often in plain view (Anthony, Craig and Derek all walk in on them in the Lounge, and BB turns the lights on on them mid act as Anthony helps Orlaith bring her suitcase into the bedroom). This causes another late night face off between them and Kamal when he loudly asks if they’ll stop the ‘ordeal’ and that they’ve probably got their magazine deal already’ which earns him a cup of water over the head by Maxwell. Saskia tries to play it off as just ‘a cheeky snog’ riiiiiight, it was clearly a bit more than that now. Yes Kamal probably could've kept the comments to himself but at the same time those two were starting to get a bit obnoxious about it if it was waking the others up.
  • Eugene sometimes I can relate somewhat to the social awkwardness with his stories, but other times he’s a bit much. Like he story he was telling about washing machines was interesting, but then it went on a bit. He’s also piping up in some weird moments like when Science and Derek were having the argument over the Narrator, and congratulating Saskia for making it so far at the eviction.
  • Vanessa completes her 3 meals in the diary room a day as punishment for last weeks task - just, she had a bit of a teary moment about it on the last day.
  • Saskia is the one to leave. I thought it might be interesting to give her one more week to see what she woudve done (She was saying in the Diary room. how she wouldve liked to have been up against Science for a better shot at staying and ‘starting over’).
  • I kinda went back and forth on Saskia, I thought she was fairly level headed and assertive in the first few weeks (even after that tiff with Mary) as a contrast to Lesley, but leading up to this weeks antics and Makosi sending her over the edge, My opinion of her took a dive. But then not sure if she was being legit with explaining her side of things at the eviction, maybe its somewhere in the middle again; I could somewhat see where she might've just fallen into things being seen as bitchy and like she was playing the queen ringleader of Anthony, Maxwell and Craig; and cant quite work out what her deal was (whether yeah ok, maybe at first she wasnt keen on Maxwell and it was nothing serious and her feelings may have grown, plus she did apologise to Makosi somewhat and had a talk out with Vanessa before she left as well. and just got painted as the ringleader by being ‘one of the lads’ in that group and the only girl).
  • Orrrr Did she just play a bad game and it backfired on her pretty spectacularly this week and now she’s trying to say it was genuine and all that to claw back some dignity. It’ll be now interesting whether Maxwell can reintegrate and do an image overhaul, and also the what happened after this season will be interesting to read up on.

That’ll do for week 5, onto Week 6!

BBUK6 Week 6 Done:
  • BBLB Sunday, 3 Kemal impersonators got done up They picked the one done up in the pricey Sari to head straight out to Kemal’s Dad’s birthday. Also just back on. Saskia’s Eviction, it also started late ( maybe because of the daily show content being a bit risque perhaps?) and She was evicted announcement and then 30 seconds straight out for the interview with Davina).
  • But then we have the Day 36/37 show. They had a crying task to collect tears to get a dinner party. After the dinner party (And this is the other thing I remember briefly reading about this season back in the day) things get SUPER raunchy in the pool! Anthony Orlaith and Makosi. Meanwhile Craig ‘gets the hump’ and has a sulk inside but then later gets in on a bit of the action, before Anthony and Makosi appear to get be going for it and everyone else jumps out in shock. Particularly Orlaith about Anthony’s behaviour.
  • Morning after the talk is how far Anthony and Makosi actually went, then later in the week Makosi comes out with she might be pregnant (although she just told everyone that they only fingerbanged) WTF. She even goes to BB for a pregnancy test. Is she trying to play a game? LOL.
  • Derek put its out there Maybe Anthony could be Bi or Gay and needs to be a bit tipsy to actually perform with the girls, evades talking about his prior ‘girlfriends’ and feels comfortable with all the touchy attention Craig gives him because Craig also gives off the uncomfortable/questioning with his sexuality vibes at times. orrrr he could also be just shy when it comes to the action kinda thing Makosi says. haha.
  • Anthony Maxwell and Craig still a tight trio after Saskia’s left.
  • Weekly task is a holiday retreat, Vanessa comes to the diary room first and chooses Makosi and Orlaith to be the ‘Reps’ that have to do everything for the holidaymakers. Like cook for them. This causes a little bit of tension between Science and Orlaith. They end up failing mainly because the Reps dont wear the ‘Full Uniform’ which they briefly protest about in the diary room then strip off and leave them there.
  • Part of the task was also when the music plays everyone has to do the Conga line train. There was one particularly funny one where Kemal jumps up out of bed starkers and is hopping around with his ass out trying to put on pants to join the conga line.
  • Eugene gets a secret mission to ‘mimic’ and shadow the first housemate to talk to him after the diary room to get some alcohol for the group. Makosi ruins it by calling him out, which gets Eugene a bit emotional as he runs to the diary room feeling sensitive and bad about failing the task. They all console him afterwards. Later He tries to ask Makosi to leave Science a bit of the Lawn to mow that he is kicking up a fuss about wanting to do, but Makosi telling him not to just pander to Science chucking a tantrum.
  • Nominations are Maxwell Vs Science. Anthony just misses out whilst its interesting Orlaith and Eugene both flew under the radar getting only one vote each iirc.
  • There is a ‘Mass Debate’ mini task to get a party for the nominee who stays on Friday - the catch is they each pick their debating ‘team’ and only those few will be allowed to attend the party. Maxwell picks Derek first, then Science goes strategy by picking Craig, which put’s Craigs nose right out of joint again and he storms off and isnt happy with Maxwell. He storms off again during the task but comes back to listen to the rest, then he Anthony and Maxwell talk it out and make up in the loft later.
  • An appearance by future BB host on C5 Emma Griffiths (later Willis) on BBLB - its the one on 7/7 which I was wondering if they were going to refer to or if it affected the housemates because I was anticipating it coming up seeing the episode air dates come into July and also some references to the Live8 Concerts which happened around then too Ricky Gervais mentioned Saskia at one of them onstage. Dermot said that none of the Housemates friends and family were affected so the decision was made not to inform them.
  • Some wild audience moments again as per usual on Big Mouth - Saskia got a few impassioned dialogues from some of them on her episode.
  • There was an incident with Maxwell and Anthony pranking each other, Maxwell takes things too far and uses the toilet brush holder from the lounge toilet to fill water with to chase Anthony and Craig with to throw at them. some of it gets on around the kitchen area floor vicinity and rightfully so gets called out as pretty unhygienic by Science who is cleaning the bins by the showers. BB makes them both clean it up later (Anthony gets saddled with most of the work by Maxwell who promptly goes and eats first).
  • Also there was the annual haircut/shave makeover - this time it was tied to a mini task for alcohol - fill up a jug to the line with hair. Maxwell, Eugene, Craig and Anthony all shave their heads (Craigs looks particularly short - Emma was only saying on BBLB a day or two before how he might think he’s the next Brian Dowling - remember when he did the haircut midway through the show? Seventeen magazine? lol). They even start taking to Anthony’s armpit hair to fluff up the bowl a bit more.
  • Bit of a shock result in the eviction - Maxwell out (it was a closish though as the Sunday BBLB I just watched revealed - 57%). Anthony and Craig are in shock, Craig gets to go and somewhat reluctantly join Science’s Victory party, and Anthony later helps Science get to bed after finding him a bit delirious outside while Craig snoozes in the lounge.
  • Again agreeing with Emma iirc talking about which of them to go, I think there mightve been slightly more value in Maxwell staying a little longer, Science’s argumentative schtick is starting to become a little stale and might continue at the same level, it might not who knows, but on the other hand Maxwell going at this point after being so confident and what it does to Craig and Anthony’s games from here is also an interesting prospect, so we’ll see how it goes.

That’ll do for Week 6, onto Week 7!
