BB/CBB UK - Rewatch discussions

Also keeping an eye on the episode/day numberings, Noticed Day 59 Daily and Day 63 BBLB was missing from this particular playlist. One of the alternates I found them had the same channel, just wasnt reincluded in this playlist and not on an alternate host link noted on it. Maybe similar to the rest of that first week of BBLB episodes from the BB3 list I was using may return to see if I can track at a later point.

I've also taken to watching the Daily covering the Saturday task before the Sunday BBLB does an update on the results since they seem to have stopped doing it live and whacked a Saturday Daily show there iirc.

I've gotten the rhythm of Efourum too, (Mon-Wed-Fri?) but I think when it turns into Big Mouth they could get away with it being twice a week (Before noms and before Eviction) or maybe even once, as a lot of the Wednesday and Friday episodes tend to blur the 'who's going to go' discussions/questions and rehash it a bit between them.

I think Big Mouth kept the same pattern for BB6 but for BB7 went to 4 nights a week airing after the eviction show from Tuesday to Friday (Monday they aired Big Brother's Big Brain - a new psych show). Always annoyed me on Friday nights they aired people talking about how the housemates might be reacting to the eviction rather than showing us the live feed of the housemates reacting to the eviction.

Day 59; Day 63 BBLB
Thanks, I did end up finding them elsewhere, as I mentioned one of them was the same channel name, but hadn’t been reput in the playlist.

Day 59 was important for continuity because Day 58 ended with Jason sleeping on his expression of wanting to leave, then Day 60 has the chained together task starting and he’s again going through the same argument with BB in the diary room before agreeing to take it a day at a time.

I think dropping in the exercise equipment the day before (similar to pandering to Nadia’s nicotine withdrawals by giving them a ration bag) helped a little bit initially too.

Ah interesting, about the psych show, they took a little bit to reintroduce those segments in BB5, Peter Collett hasn’t been back though Geoffrey and Sandra are still doing it, and they’ve added a couple of new ones into the rotation (‘Honey’ I think is one of them).

Yes - think those survive in BB6 but were taken out of the main show into Big Brain with Dermot in BB7 and then On the Couch with Davina in BB8 before just getting slots on BBLB.

BBUK5 Week 10 Part 1 (I'm up to the Day 70 Diary Room Uncut Show):
  • YMCA as the alarm Stuart dancing for it again.
  • Obstacle course comprising several elements of past Saturday tasks was a misdirect, the real task was 10 shots, from either 2 saltwater, 2 Cod Oil or 6 pureed fish guts! That was a whole lot of NOPE, if anything the best option IMO would’ve maybe been going the Cod Oil, Shell Declined, Nadia did one of those plus a Saltwater, Which Dan also did and it seems its designed to be a regurgitation trigger the body wants to reject from the reaction both he and Nadia had to it.
  • Stuart and Jason cleaned up the fish guts (giving Stuart the chance to redeem his regret about not going for the milkshake weeks back). Jason still having a few aftershocks of digestion later on. They won back 10 Grand for the prize pool though. 63 000 iirc its at now.
  • Jason playing up a bit - the Sock Puppet mini task some stirring up Dan how he's a bit of a suck up to Nadia; and also hiding the bottles of wine from the alcohol hamper from the others for a little while.
  • Oh so Michelle did audition for Pop Idol and maybe Fame Academy before. getting brought into the BBLB studio on a stretcher on the shoulders of several men - geez the clearance was only just, like on top of a train headed into a tunnel lol.
  • BBLB using the Aussie kids show ‘Round The Twist’ theme song for a montage of the season’s twists lol.
  • BB playing more mind games in the final week - I suppose its in place of a main task for the week and also there being a mid week eviction - Getting them to pack up suitcases but being no eviction that night, Playing some crowd noise.
  • Then they were asked to nominate one other housemate Face to Face. It was for an individual reward unbeknownst to them, but they all refused to do it, the next day baby crying alarm was back, some areas were blocked off, showers cold, BB plays them footage of nominating each other, which really annoys Shell and she has a bit of a rage moment.
  • Add to this, they leave a fake newspaper headline illuminated in the camera run which Nadia sees ‘BB MOLE TOPS POLL’ - sending them speculating a bit).
  • Was a bit of a surprise that Stuart went in the ‘Silent Eviction’ althoiugh it was put forward as a possibly in the last 2 Efourum’s (cool having Dermot and Davina on the panel in the last one). But who is voting for Shell? Cant be much more than Stuart’s 7% when I can take a look at the percentages if they are available.
  • The crowd did well keeping that silent. I got a bit confused in the part 2 when Davina finally let them cheer - but BB was playing music in the house as part of the ‘Final Week Party’. Evicting Stuart for real while called to the Diary Room was an interesting twist - for the moment Jason was theorizing that Stuart won and they might just let the housemates back in to party and stay one more night. That would be quite the flip twist, but realistically from a show spectacle POV I don’t think it’s likely they’d evict the ‘winner’ as 5th last in the house and not get a good interview with the other four as part of the finale and wrap it up that way come on now.
  • Speaking of using Aussie inspirations, Dan’s band name (had two of his uni friends on BBLB from it) - um, does the UK know about the 80’s band Icehouse (Who originally changed their name from ‘Flowers’)? ‘Great Southern Land’? ‘Electric Blue’, ‘Crazy’? haha. (*sees BBLB Day 70 when they go home town visits*) OH, so its technically ‘Icehouse PROJECT’ Riiight. :p
  • And the gymnastics they had to go through on the Day 70 BBLB Episode - Michelle was in studio but they had to use a blow up doll with her face on it to stand in for Stuart’s Superfan Glenns exit item - a western re-enactment. Why? As the ticker bottom of screen reads (and was also explained by Dermot), “BBLB Apologises for not using the real Michelle in this item. Due to a Newspaper Exclusive, we are unable to show Stuart and Michelle onscreen at the same time. Mega!”
  • FINALLY we’ve been waiting for that all season - a quick video Message to Stuart from Busted (although how long have they been sitting on that one it looked like could’ve been from any of those events they pull the celebrity roving eye vox pops from haha) . Ya pulled through BBLB.

Only got the last few eps and whatever post specials they have to watch now.

Finished BBUK5! Watched the GMTV Winners interview, and the winner’s week vignettes (plus the longer episode which shown some more BTS starting from Michelle’s Eviction). I’ll finish off some thoughts on rest of Week 10 and the after episodes, some OVerall Season Recap + Housemate final thoughts then next up is CBBUK3!

BBUK5 Week 10 Part 2 and aftershows:

  • Some fun morning alarm songs YMCA, The Final Countdown, Que Sera… etc. Final 2 days Recap: “This is Big Brother. It’s your Final Day. Get your asses up!”
  • The Last daily show before the end, and its only really now were getting some deep integral backstory to Jason and Shell’s character regarding familial distance (at least whats come through to the daily show edits), Shell hasn’t seen her dad since she was 12 and Jason is adopted (previously they were talking about many of them being the eldest of siblings, whereas Jason being the ‘youngest of 6’), which may go some way to explain the recent ponderings on BBLB how its always been his two mates coming to support him and never any of his family.
  • Nadia having a bit of an emotional moment when La Isla Bonita came on at the final week party/Stuart’s Eviction, Its hitting her that she’s now in the Final 4.
  • LOL Finale BBLB - Dermot asking Davina what its like finding out who the name is just before she crosses to the house - She referenced ‘oh they said the wrong name in Australia, they had to put the person straight back in’ That of course being just a couple weeks earlier in BBAU2004.
  • Nice aerial shot of the House (you can see where they’ve cut off the lawn area portion on the other side since the BB3 house) and also no frills promo for the BBLB Sunday Reunion BBQ, very Microsoft Powerpoint esque (I used to mock up some like this back in the day! lol)
  • The ex housemates parade Flat ‘no we dont have the time go and sit down’ to Kitten wanting to talk about more update on her antics outside.
  • Shell out in Fourth. Bit of a lol moment when She was aware of the watershed and saying ‘well crying and another type of thing was my tension release in the house’ - yet we got some more of the ‘Porn Mower’ newspaper headlines. Haha.
  • Daniel out in Third, trying to mime the autocue alongside Davina LOL. Seems he didn’t really know Nadia’s ‘secret’ or didnt fully hear the shouting. His best of package was really entertaining.
  • Jason and Nadia what a wild match up for Final 2. Nadia overwhelmed at winning. Jason cant bear to watch himself in packages although gets a few glances.
  • Davina didn’t go into the house this time to greet Nadia and then bring her out she came out into the crowd and then the interviews are back on the Stage with the sidebar of Housemates for this season’s finale.
  • Nadia’s exit and interview was well done, little bit of an emotional end to the season, also her mum coming over from Portugal with some cousins and friends. 74% of the vote (out of 2) is a staggering win.
  • They’ve just shown the final prize pool tally on screen this time and not done the ‘transferring now’ as we saw in Cameron’s Winners aftermath specials last season it might take a bit of time to process through to Nadia’s actual account. Haha. Still close to the ‘standard’ amount up until this season at 63,500.
  • Jason blew off the BBLB BBQ reunion in the house it seems to spend more time with friends and family, so we didnt get any interaction with him and Dermot, (plus it was a bit of an awkward few seconds for Pam his superfan in that segment) but it was good to see some more from the others.
  • Jason did pop up in the Winners week after specials a fair bit though at least, talking about needing time away from the group and the BB media machine after the initial press conference and such for a bit. He did end up doing some appearances like on GMTV and a paper article to clear the air on a few things as well as some to camera bits for the winners week specials like meeting up with Victor
  • They had a montage at the end of the finale (set to Green Day - ‘Time Of Your Life’) on BBLB it was Keane’s ‘Somewhere Only We Know’.
  • In the Winners Week episodes, Dan went to the premiere of ‘Dodgeball’ which had an actual game of said Dodgeball, Nadia visted David Hasselhoff doing some stage musical version of Chicago iirc.

Some more points in the Season recap and Housemate thoughts posts Ill do in a bit. ;)

A few overall Season recap thoughts for BBUK5:
  • The Opening titles and aesthetics (the eye, Red and Darkblue colour scheme, etc) were pretty cool, the rumbling through the eye opening was kinda exciting. They had a code going with the numbered letters for viewers to try and crack and they ended up selecting a winner later in the season on BBLB to have a go at being the BB Voice and calling someone to the Diary Room.
  • I expected the 'winning some money back' task to be maybe a little more than what it was (perhaps an extra task or two or spread across the week?), also that they stopped doing those tasks live halfway through (but maybe were still shown on E4 Streaming?). But since BBUK at least so far have shyed away from embellishing some parts of the 'no outside contact' experience like Australia did (Dermot's reaction to things like Gretel's in house visits, I wonder if he ever reacted to FNL and the 'Ninjas'? LOL).
  • But it was ok, also I understand in terms of scale, 100K pound only deducted from once per week vs 1 Million AUD whittled much more regularly by $5000 fines also a comparison to consider.
  • There were definitely some unpredictable elements this season connected to some of the twists (which created a few what if's for the BB history books and also a lot more wild moments) but also the way some of the twists and tasks stood on their own and were well crafted was a major improvement compared to BB4 just gone. More on that in the housemates write ups.
  • It was also well casted, with the Jungle Cats Vs Lip Gloss Bitches playing off and also some more interpersonal fireworks.
  • EFourum was an interesting addition, Diary Room Uncut was ok sometimes just showed more extended scenes from the diary room included in some other eps.
  • The removing the beds once evicted ended up only being the mattress originally slept on or something, so there was still some moving around (like Dan ended up in Ahmed's bed by the end).
  • Trying out the eviction interviews on the stage outside (Marco and Becki, then the Final 4) was interesting, sometimes it worked well, other times the crowd were a bit much and a bit distracting. One wonders how they balanced that in the Australian version from memory, or whether in general the UK crowds were just that bit more rowdy at times with some of those instances of booing, and them trying to figure out whether its genuine or sometimes a bit 'pantomime' and put on a bit for jest.
  • Also by the end watching the montage, I liked the move of the exit door to ground level, led to some great poses (Victor, Dan), and the doors opening face to face with a section of the crowd behind the mesh fence.
  • So many quotable moments this season.

That'll do what I can think of for now, Some final bits on the Housemates next.

BBUK5 Housemates:
  • Kitten: Led the way with a crazy first week in the house. She was never going to last long the way she conducted herself in there, but you could also tell she did mean well at times. She also disrupted the Bedsit twist, Her Ejection pushed it back by a week, and also rendered the opening Saturday task twist losing her suitcase moot, as the only lingering effect from that turned out to be leaving the house in Jason's (or one of his mates') Cardigan. She was a loose cannon on Efourum which was weird to watch. Apparently (as she also mentioned on the winner's week episodes) she did end up coming to Australia (Perth apparently) and did a BB Panto.
  • Emma: She was really funny, but had an explosive side as shown with Victor and also in the Bedsit. I think had she have stayed after Fight Night, she may have rivalled Nadia with a shot to win as part of the Lip Gloss Bitches. After the show, she moved in with Marco for a while.
  • Vanessa: She started out alright, but ended up coming off badly after giving in to Jason a little there, and also getting a bit of a self righteous/bitchy edit after fight night and being seen as perhaps on the Jungle Cats side (although I could also understand where she was coming from in her outburst at the same time. Also felt for her when Jason was getting pretty lecherous there on quite a number of occasions. She had by the end of the series started dating Ben Fogle, who had come on BBLB to campaign for her.
  • Marco: Before it was known as the Lip Gloss Bitches, It was also 'Marco's Hareem'. He clashed a bit with Ahmed as predicted, but also there was a moment where he started to stand up for himself a bit in the week he was nominated and left. To compare to AU housemates he kinda reminded me a little bit of a mix of Travis (2008) and Ari (2021). For all the high pitched seal clapping action, he also had a more grounded side.
  • Becki: She was really good as an Ally for Nadia, as the only one that truly knew her 'secret' whilst in the house. The Judas Kiss nomination seemed to be a big part of her undoing though, If she went for one of the Jungle Cats as a free shot instead of Michelle instead of waiting until later (which didnt eventuate even without Jason and Victor being able to vote in Week 6), maybe that couldve been a turning point but who knows. She had a bit of a kookier side too. And speaking of random dating after the show, I read apparently she was dating Russell Brand for a bit too?

BBUK5 Housemates Continued:
  • Ahmed: He is one of the housemates whom I feel really benefitted the most from this season's beginnings being so disjointed, and the first proper public vote eviction not occurring until the end of Week 4. If the Bedsit eviction was a proper boot in Week 2, He could've easily gone in that eviction, Also if He had been up against someone other than Becki in Week 6, He could've been released by the public as he so earnestly begged for the week prior.
That he Made it to Week 7 to give us one last and very memorable round of Ahmania in the Boot Camp task was quite the feat. Jason simultaneously revved him up and threw him under the bus in that first few days from the unsettled elder outsider to quite the debater who also did really know how to have fun with the others, despite being on a rollercoaster of wanting to stay or leave. He was definitely entertaining, even though some weeks it started to wear thin.
  • Victor: A housemate that really knew how to strategise and play the game. At first it was entertaining, then it started to grate a bit when it seemed towards the middle that he was getting consumed in it and it would be all seemingly the edit would give him and Jason to go on about. Still he had some lighter moments (such as the I'll Make Love To You' impromptu bit). The Wedding task did him in though, and it was Shell of all people who had her assertive moment of the series and inadvertantly created a massive game changer. His BBLB spots were entertaining, and he will show up again along with Nadia and Michelle when Ultimate BB comes up in my schedule.
  • Michelle: I thought She seemed to have a more mature/strategic grasp of things as far as moments like the Bedsit and Boot Camp Task were concerned, when It came to Stuart though, less so, and the wedding task and chained together task in Weeks 8 and 9 really turned the tables in the public wanting to give Stuart some space. She was only 3 years older than him but at first I thought it seemed like she was like 26-27 and bossing him around.
  • Stuart: These two go hand in hand, it was kinda fitting that they left one after the other. He reminded me a little of Wesley from the same year in BBAU same age, and part of their reputation was being 'smart at school' (It was revealed though He was talking himself up a little bit for the Audition). Stuart did seem a little more like a big kid a lot of the time though with those different characters. Someone even posited that they were part of some long method acting experiment as part of his psychology degree or something. It seems he didn't feel pressured or dominated by Michelle too much, although from the outside it did seeem like she was overpowering a lot of his edit. Nevertheless, they only lasted about a year together outside and Michelle later married a hypnotist?

OK Magazine sent the both of them to Spain to get away and apparently Michelle by selling her story was reportedly paid upwards of 100K pound, get that coin while you can... She also did various Glamour modelling as she wanted, which leads into the next few housemates its interesting about how they all differently perceive their reasons for going on the show now its 5 Series in - what they want to do after it, and how fame or 15 minutes of is taken by their friends and family... (continued next post).

BBUK5 Housemates Continued:
  • Shell: I Felt She was kindof in the bystander shadow of Vanessa I thought early on, having a few rage moments though and also the nude lawnmowing which then came to a head and she was instrumental in taking down Victor in week 8. I thought She also became a little bit like Dan as the voice of reason in some of the discussions and stuff. Also had a bit of a glam up (that fringe look with help of Dan).

Bit of a sad footnote having Scott Hutchinson appearing in a lot of her friends and family moments on BBLB - I think maybe I had heard before of his band Frightened Rabbit (not sure if I'm familiar with any of their material though from a glance) and his disappearance/passing in 2018. Apparently their 2008 album raised their profile and got some attention, it was inspired by his and Shell's relationship breaking down at some point prior.

In the Winners week episodes he was talking about being totally fine with Shell making some money from doing these photoshoots (some were a bit on the 'sexy' side) while the iron is hot on her fame from the show, why not.
I found an article from last year with a picture of Shell, She is now still in the Art business, moved to the US and has released a book on motherhood.
  • Daniel: I really enjoyed watching him, gave quite a lot of LOL moments during the season. I think the whole 'I dont want to win, I might walk' really snowballed for him, even though he was quite truthful about the not wanting to win part despite staying for the fans who wanted to see him stay. He said he found it a bit bizarre winning money for not doing much but staying in the house, and didnt want the winners title so he'd have an easier time returning to his regular life without as much notoriety, mainly doing the show for the experience of it. Also he enjoyed going back to Hull being a bit more laid back and disconnected from the bustle of London.

At first in his intro package regarding the whole has a way with straight guys he also mentioned something about effeminate gays he dosent gel with or something and I thought they were setting up for him to clash with Marco a bit more in that way, but as he mentioned in the house he can talk about sport with the blokes or go out on the town with the girls, and he definitely knows his way around makeup and such and has some feminine gay qualities in general.

As often pointed out also at first When he was in with Jason and Vanessa I thought like Shell he was going to become more entrenched in the Jungle Cat side of things by association, but as those early weeks and post fight night followed, Jungle Cats became really just spearheaded by Jason and Victor, with Ahmed and a smidge of Stuart as a more neutral as supporting players, and the other side of the house with The Lip Glossers plus some others allegiances were a little more blurry and also Dan took on more of that Mediator role.
He also became more of a real sidekick to Nadia, and sortof reconnected with Jason towards the end of the show too.

Anyways, I thought he was thoroughly entertaining. Kinda reminds me a bit of having a Boy George kinda demeanour, Maybe Ice House Project couldv'e done a Culture Club tribute act set. Haha.

BBUK5 Housemates Concluded:
  • Jason: He started out really fun, although Fight Night (which ultimately started with him going at Marco) took the wind out of his sails I think and He started getting the grumps and spent a lot of his edit plotting with Victor and the whole Jungle Cats thing. As Daniel pointed out to Vanessa (whom until she left, was also on the recieving end of some of Jason's questionable randy advances) there may have also been some deep seated insecurities there as well, which we later find out theres a backstory involving his past and upbringing being adopted. (He mentioned on the winner's week that his birth mother had reached out through the papers).

Some semblance of 'fun time frankie' returned in that final week, but he was another that benefitted from some twisty developments, mainly Victor and Michelle's evictions, and the vote switching to Vote to Win rather than to evict.
He also was fairly forthright in stating that he needed some time out from the post show group activities and initial media storm, only catching up with select few for the moment, and after clarifying himself with a few media he might be one who enjoyed the experience for himself but would be ok with disappearing back into obscurity tomorrow. I did find some recent where are they now pics of him, he's got a bit of a radically different look as far as bald head is concerned and some dark slight beard happening.

If there was one of those awards in that last 2 days for best supporting role, it would be a good contender Jason's Ass, right? LOL. He was definitely an Interesting divisive character of the season.
  • Nadia: and finally, we have Nadia. She definitely shone a light on transgender experience for its day, all the while keeping that from the rest of the housemates the whole way through. Apart from that as Victor said she had some entertaining moments and also some clashes, really getting into the journey of the house. I think after Marco left She kinda rose a bit more as herself and Michelle only ones left as 'original' Lip Glossers and Dan Shell and Stuart kindof were in her closer circle too. She of course visited the final week of BBAU2005. Also a song? (a few others from this season also put out something musical). I see she also appeared on Hollyoaks and some other TV Appearances.

So thats all for now for my thoughts on BBUK5. Onto CBB3!

CBBUK3 (January 2005) Begin!

CBBUK3 Launch, BBLB Day 1, EFourum Day 2:
  • So the only really major change to the house is Astroturf for Winter (Its January), Outdoor heated seating area (where the mud baths used to be) and the snug is now a sauna room. The Logo aesthetic is now Red and Black (Matching Diary Room) with a Star in the middle.
  • LOL the first housemate is John McCririck. “Cleavage Sex is safe! and so enjoyable!” thanks for that mental visual John. lol He’s not a fan of ultra feminists or fake breasts. Wow - and his wife’s name is apparently “Booby”. How fitting (watching the first BBLB its a nickname based on the bird). and did he just call his dog ‘Double D’? Davina said they would be sending in a Feminist Icon, so this’ll be interesting.
  • OMGsh its Germaine Greer. “I wont tolerate anal intercourse im not into that” LOL the one liners already and thats just the intro packages!
  • Caprice seems interesting, also Lisa I’anson with her ‘dont like being told by BB what to do’ energy. Some get a room level final snog to her partner and she’s in.
  • Bez is on another planet, I do recognise his bandmate/neighbour Shaun Ryder from his contribution to Gorillaz’ song/video DARE (which at this point was still a few months from coming out later in 2005 along with Feel Good Inc which was a big hit for them).
  • I know Jeremy Edwards from his previous appearances on BBLB. I don’t think he showed up during BB5. Oh he was dating Rachel Stevens from SClub at one point? Some points dropped by Davina suggest he’s being set up to clash with Caprice. He’s also intending to be a prankster. He’s got 5 layers of clothes on to free up space in the suitcase.
  • Kenzie is the youngest housemate they’ve had on so far, discounting the Teen Series. Germaine being the Oldest they’ve had by a ways. Entering on his 19th birthday. Davina: “His Ideal housemate would be Girls Aloud… All of them” and “a good thing to learn in there would be ‘how to live without my Playstation, and learn some alcohol games’ “ LOL.
  • Brigitte Nielsen, wow she’s tall and kinda reminds me of Pink meets Jamie Lee Curtis vibe with that short cut. She seems like she’s gonna be fun too. More snogging of the loved one then she’s in and thats the 8 housemates all in now.
  • I’ve watched The First BBLB and Efourum eps, Seems Jeremy has also brought in cigs Marco style as bribery tools, and has been the first to discover the double bed suite tucked away in the bedroom corner and bags’ed it.

Took another bit of a break (Eurovision on last week and stuff) but back into it (CBB3) now, I've just finished watching the Day 5 Special where Jackie Stallone enters as the 9th Housemate and 'Queen Mother' to Lisa In the task theyve got at the moment. Seems a good spot to do a little update of notes:
  • Much of the focus was on John just coming out with some outrageous statements and having no filter, The rest of them are a bit taken aback but so far it seems to have mostly not been taken too seriously and chalked up to 'rambling old-school man', with the girls pretty much taking it in their stride pushing it back onto him bar an instance or two where they've pulled him up on perhaps going a bit too far.
  • There were a couple scenes though it looked like he was somewhat making the effort to get to know some of them a little more, Talking to Kenzie, Brigitte and Bez for example).
  • Germaine I thought has been a little more laid back and fun than I thought she might be arcing up over some of the discussions a bit more from what I remember seeing of her previously, but she could also just be sitting back and surveying the scene a bit more atm, as theorised on BBLB. She had a bit of a 'Sorry not Sorry' moment cutting up some of the ratty towels to use as floor mops and getting a talking to by BB.
  • I thought it was interesting to note when they had the Heat Magazine guy on BBLB, one of the papers that dosent usually weigh into articles about Big Brother, suddenly did being surprised someone like Germaine going on a show like BB and being perhaps seen to be a low brow move of sorts amongst the general calibre of the other Celebrity HM's. OTOH having her on might get some more eyes other than the typical target demo watching the show as well.
  • They had a mini quiz task to win back some personal items confiscated by BB (or only choosing one or the other) for another housemate in the Diary room. Jeremy having already gotten as many clothes into the house initially on hi, instead had the rest of his clothes as Kenzie's 'all or nothing' Multiple choice question for him (What Jeremy rated himself out of 10 ), which he failed. Dermot modelling some of his clothes on BBLB. Also there was a bit of a 'wet t-shirt moment' for Jeremy in the jacuzzi, only with the back of his underwear. lol.
  • Another reminder of how far tech has progressed watching this in hindsight by 2005 standards; for the first time viewers can now text pictures and video clips from a mobile phone to BBLB; they showed an quick example of a clip, and if you all remember the pretty low quality footage/pictures and small aspect ratios capable on the phones of that era (let alone website formats were still pretty primitive and not nearly as optimized as they are today or indeed just a few years later with the advent of touchscreen smartphones coming into the picture) - anyway the weird nostalgia, think the early early days of Facebook, MySpace and Youtube.
  • In the same BBLB episode, they had a live cross to a 'webcam' set up in Covent Garden at various points of the show to have people rock up and stand behind a placard about their opinion of John's behaviour. Very CCTV footage level.
  • Speaking of the tasks, theres been some pretty full on elements involving meats, there was an obstacle task to get some of their shopping items which featured an 'abattoir' section where they had some of the bags entangled and needing pulling from Pork lungs; and in the current Medieval Court task they had a bit where 14 pheasant carcasses needed plucking. Poor Kenzie's fell apart halfway through and was hanging there by some stuff was a bit gnarly.
  • Anyway they got through, although it's really set John off in a sulk because some items they didnt get (such as the Milk and his Cola - BB had them swap for the milk, and secretly offered al but john a glass of Cola in the diary room). He's stopped talking to the others, isnt participating in the task (lol moment Marcus, on narration during the pheasant scene: "and John dosent give a pluck"), and had words with Kenzie the previous night after BB asked Kenzie to close the bedroom door to set up the Task equipment.
  • John called him weak Sending Kenzie into Grime gangster mode for a moment there. John apologised to him and only him in the morning, but has been getting really huffy with BB. Although he did look over and seem to enjoy the performance of the 'Queen's crest' the rest had painted. Maybe he'll come around eventually.
  • The task was set up in a similar way to the Boot Camp task from BB5, Lisa went and retrieved the shot arrow from the backyard, becoming Queen who has the others do things for her in roles. She's been given the solo suite. Caprice is her dresser, and Brigitte has to warm her bed and toilet for her. When She goes to toilet, Bez or Jeremy has to raise the flag outside.
  • Now Jackie is in, lets see how it goes Nominations are finally starting also, so that'll be interesting.

Interesting point about the technology - indeed in hindsight technology wise at least you weren't really sacrificing much going into the house back then compared to all the communication channels of today. Back then you'd be unlikely to miss your Christmas card from your third cousin twice removed, but nowadays you'd struggle to get through the day without knowing what they had for dinner!

As much though as technology has moved on I do think TV show websites have really moved significantly backwards. Now they tend to be just a link to the socials and the episodes on demand, but back then a Big Brother website was not just the live feed but a wealth of news and information posted throughout the day along with videos, pictures and behind the scenes snippets. So few TV shows tend to provide that now - at most you might get contestant profiles but even that seems a big ask.

Another bit of a break but I'm on the home stretch of CBB3 now, just finished Day 11 Daily and the efourum before the 2nd eviction.
Some updates:
  • Jackie entering really shook up the house dynamic, I wonder if Brigitte was the Queen in the task instead of Lisa, and didnt have to be subjected to waiting on Lisa as well as Jackie, whether that would have made a difference to the discussion around if BB took it a step too personal in the pursuits of being 'evil BB' even with a Celebrity season.
  • It came to a head with being the last straw for Germaine, she ended up walking after getting fed up with the 'Bullying' of John (over the Diet Cokes) and Brigitte (by bringing in Jackie).
  • An interesting point brought up in efourum did Germaine only go on the show despite being averse to Realty TV as experience fodder to back her assertions up perhaps for a book, and bailed as soon as she had taken as much as she could bear? She kinda regretted going in and was glad to be out. Davina had two tough interviews in those few days between her and Jackie's Eviction.
  • Jackie certainly gave them their money's worth, Germaine leaving and her Entry seemed to bring John back out of his silent sulk, to being at loggerheads with Jackie on several occasions. She didn't really understand the concept of the show half the time haha.
  • At first it had Brigitte and also Jeremy also thinking of walking, but they stuck it out. Jeremy did say he'd play up the prankster a little bit, him and Kenzie mainly against John and when he was talking about how he was smarter than Jackie after holding his tongue against her witty retorts and setting Bez offside about stopping him from fetching the wine for Jackie and she should do it herself is maybe coming across not that well in some peoples estimations. Also wildly dancing and cheering when Jackie was evicted and being a bit OTT in his reaction.
  • Lisa is similarly a bit polarising, some see her as too 'bossy' and assertive, but imo I'm enjoying her vibe, I don't think even when she's been a bit abrupt with others its come off as too up herself or bitchy, I think she's been quite measured. She's kindof the mediator role when dealing with Jackie or John and a sympathetic ear with Brigitte and Caprice.
  • About how technology/social media moves on, I'm pretty sure wikipedia was around back then iirc, but as a quick reference guide/'google fact checking' seems to have not been as in play regarding Jackie's real age as it might have been general public knowledge and they were just cheekily referring to the elephant in the room perhaps OTOH.
  • Dermot sticking to the 71 at first, Russell bringing it up and calling it out on efourum, then there was a viewer poll on BBLB, and a few further mentions on some of the later shows as being 80 something. In the house there was even a package about them guessing John's age.
  • It sounded like Davina had a bit of a hoarse voice on the eviction, that whilst having to direct and control Jackie's interview. Similarly Jackie was kinda chaotic on BBLB with Dermot. One kinda unexpected result of them throwing Jackie in there was her and Brigitte kinda getting along amicably and clearing the air a bit.
  • Vote to save change is interesting, I wonder if this carries over into BB6, I know Australia only started using the hybrid Save/Evict system with 2006 and 2007. Unbeknownst to John, he's trying to outdo Jackie in the unlike ability stakes to get himself booted, but the voting angle has shifted on the outside. He has started to get more involved again though with the rest of the house. The 'Ghost Train' not working when it came to his lap in that task meant that he got to skip his lap time and they passed that task.
  • Also the format with the extended season has been interesting, No eviction (bar Germaine Walking) until halfway through, gives them a good week and a bit to settle in, then it should be thick and fast in the final stretch.
  • Bez has started getting a bit agitated too, wanting to jump the wall and go out on the town one night after not having access to alcohol. Bit of pot calling kettle black nominating Brigitte for potentially getting crabby if she runs out of cigs. but they also had a bit of a chat about stuff in the recent episode. He's had a couple of fed up moments in the last few days too. Plus being nominated along with John for the next eviction. Theres been a bit of analysis about who might be playing the game, they had a poker player on BBLB.
  • There was a funny scene the camera angle was focused on the spa area outside with audio of Kenzie and Caprice in the Sauna that sounded a little sus, but then they had a quick shot where it might've been that angle cause the Sauna cam view was slightly fogged up for a little bit. Haha.
  • They also won a German themed party for completing the task.
  • Caprice has been kinda background while Jackie was in the house, but she just had a secret task that was kinda ambitious for BB and revealed two new spaces in the house design - and 'elevator room' and the circular crawlspace room where she got to watch a few diary room comments about her - triggering a bit of a heated chat with John later about how he thinks she is just all about self promotion.
  • Did Russell Brand write all his own scripts? Some of those monologues are just bizarre. LOL. Compared to some of the classic Gretelisms and alliterations of BBAU.

Off to watch the next few eps. :)

  • Change in Schedule due to a security scare on Eviction Night, the Housemates were evacuated for a few hours to a holding room. Apparently a sniffer dog picked up possible explosives from a package of some cable tie contraptions? Anyway, it made for a Saturday Eviction with No Crowd just some press, crew and the Housemates families, which was strange to me. Davina kept saying that 'we couldnt keep the crowd overnight so BBLB is gonna make it up to you Gos'. Was the eviction a ticketed event? What were BB Fans doing on a Saturday night that meant they would'nt just show back up the next night? Maybe they just wanted to give the evacuation incident some space and keep it low key. hmmm.

Backing up to the security scare which saw the eviction night postponed during BB4 here is C4 handled things during the evening.

Almost finished CBB3 now, up to the Day 16 Eviction show:
  • Bez climbing the walls and freaking the others out he was gonna walk after not being evicted against John. He seems to have settled down bit more now and rejoined the group after not taking part in the relaxation retreat task (they all went into the secret tunnel room).
  • John on BBLB - they played a short 'who said it' game and John still chose the prize of a Coke supply over a weekend away with Booby. lol. Also a classic quote from his package when he was talking to Kenzie about Blazin Squad: "I don't know the difference between Mary J Bilge (Blige) and Dildo (Dido)" Haha.
  • BBLB getting away with a lot more now with its later timeslot. They even had a segment where they played 3 audio clips of moaning and the guests had to pick which one was Caprice's yoga session which sounded sus - the other two were from Pron. Then they actually showed highly edited/censored mini clips of said Pron sources. LOL.
  • They did a Silent Diary Room Eviction on Lisa, during the Nursery Rhyme character party (Kenzie in a bit of a tizz about being dressed as Humpty Dumpty and his image wit the boyz lol), Went to Diary Room to play hide and seek and counted down. Davina was happy to finally have a good interviewee that enjoyed the BB experience so far this season.
  • Jeremy dosen't want to talk about Rachel Stevens and himself.
  • Talk on BBLB and EFourum about who to win now we're in the final days. Brigitte has kindof mellowed after the whole Jackie thing and not as outgoing as she came into the house with, Caprice is odds favorite to go next. Kenzie has moved past Bez in odds to win. Also return appearances by Stuart and Victor from BB5 on BBLB and EFourum.
  • Jeremy had a mini task to insert Queen songs into casual conversation. some of the mandatory ones were difficult but he did well, Kenzie got given a mini digital camera for a 'secret paparazzi' mini task.

Last couple eps to go now.
